Both the globes in my 94ssg compass and clock lights have blown.
Does anyone know a place in Australia where to get the globes? Im in Melbourne and I cant find a place to buy them. Been to various auto elecs, jaycar, tandy, repco, bursons. All got nothing similar.
Have been to Mitsubishi but they are very expensive ($17each) but the main problem is that they need to be ordered from Japan which will take 6 weeks or so they reckon.
Any one had to replace these before?

following jims advice i managed to get water pump off,the bolt holding lower crankshaft pulley was a bit of a bugger, there are timing marks to line it up to,one point of interest thou is mine has the 1830cc 4g93 engine fitted which was used in the lancer and some other models,it was quite a popular engine, yet when i phoned the one and only dealer here,i was informed it would take six months to get one,so im taking mine over the border to south cyprus to get one and to get a new bush put in my old one so if need arises i will have a spare one,so if any of you ever deside to tour over here bring your own spares with you as ACI HALI mitsubishi dealers dont seem to stock much.another point is if you need a manual for engine use, check to see what other models yours was used in...

Hiya,
Sorry just to wander onto the forum asking for advice and giving nothing back but I'm kind of stuck.
Mitsubishis arn't really my thing - its Alfa's that I generally work on, so I don't know a great deal about them.
I've been roped into replacing an engine in an M reg RVR after the 1st engine died. I think the bottom end may have failed after a cam belt snap but as I never heard it running I don't know.
Anyway, my mate, Adam, sourced a new engine from a breaker which I have installed using the turbo, fuel pump and gearbox off the original engine. I also replace the cam belt, balance belt and tensioners. I was able to find the cambelt replacement proceedure from an Autodate manual so I don't think its a timing issue.
After many weeks working evenings off and on (Adam's away working for 3 weeks at a time) the engine is back in and all hooked up. As I wasn't there when Adam stripped the majority of the top end off I can only say I THINK all of the fuel lines and vaccuum hoses are back in the right place.
Top and bottom of it is, the engine turns over but there is absolutely no sign of life.
I think its a fueling problem but I can't be sure. There is fuel at the pump but there is no pressure in the fuel rail to the injectors.
I disconnected the feed to one of the injectors and cranked it over. There is no pressure there, just a small dribble of fuel.
Anyone got any ideas? Please?

hello world.
Apologies for posting twice but PC crashed. my RVR has a terrible vibration at idle, below 1100 rpm. Anyone have a similar problem or is this normal?
I have been told to look at -
cambelt - stretched, jumped a sprocket or wrongly installed (timing marks out)
injector blocked on one cylinder
engine mounts broken
any ideas?
anyone got a tip on a good garage in Norwich?
Thanks

Help- I'm in love with my LRV Sport AWD, but It's having what feels like an electrical problem...Engine power cuts out and I hear the clicking sound like relays resetting or something up behind the glove box, and then it goes live again...cuts out major at freeway speeds....not so much around town...Once and a while it dies totally (occasionally even in park) and will re-start in neutral or park...I read about the bad Mitzie ECU so I got a Re-built Unit and had it installed at the dealer and it DIDN't solve the problem...Whenever the electrical power cuts out, it's accompanied by the clicking sounds from the firewall area (behind the glovebox) and then the power will resume... We love this little LRV and we just recently got it, so having this problem is both upsetting and expensive...Has anyone else had this problem ??
Remember- we just replaced the ECM and it can quit either in gear (automatic) or in park......HELLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPP

Hi all
I have recently purchased a 1992 Non-turbo Mitsubishi RVR-X. After a couple of weeks everything seemed to be going ok. That is until i put it in for a service. The mechanics removed the radiator to clean it and flush it. 2 days later after getting it back I noticed a pool of coolant on the ground under the car. I took it straight back to the mechanics and they found leak in one of the hoses. I bought the car back home and let it sit in the garage overnight. I took it out today and once again there was coolant all over the ground. I looked under the car and found a drip coming from a small nozzle on the bottom of the radiator. I had noticed this before but didnt think anything of it. There is a knob just above it that I tried to tighten and got it to tighten a little bit more and it seemed to do the trick but now it is dripping again. Can anyone tell me what this little nozzle is and should it drip.
Any help would be appreciated.

A couple of months back I bought a 1994 RVR Turbo. After I had it for a few weeks I noticed that a white deposit was building up on the the battery terminals and electrolyte was seeping from the cell filler caps. As I was unsure how old the battery was replaced it.
Now several months after replacing battery the same problem has happened yet again. Could this problem be linked to a faulty alternator either overcharging or undercharging battery. Would be grateful for any help in this matter as the escaping electrolyte is starting to damage the underside of the bonnet.

I have a 97 RVR, imported from Japan.
I have been reading the other posts and have been on other sites and the problem we are having is the same as other posts. It appears that the transmission is in third gear and will not change. Other posts say that the transaxle is in safe mode. Which means the TCU is giving error codes. It also says I need OBD scanner or a multi meter to read the codes. It has also been suggested that I get the car coded so I get a readout of the errors.
My problem is that the car is in the Solomon Islands and is an import from Japan. I have just cleared it from customs and when I went to drive it away I knew something was funny. The company is reputable but since I didn't get a full mechanics check I have doubts about recourse since they are in Japan and I am in the Solomon Islands.
I can get parts from Australia if needed but I have to know which parts I need. Is there a starting point?

Symptoms;
When starting from cold, it starts 1st time & idles at around 1100rpm. After approx 2-3 minutes running, engine speed rises to around 4000rpm & will not come down...
I have no alternative but to shut down the engine at this point - after a few minutes & a restart, it will idle at around 800/900rpm & shake the fillings from my teeth - Any ideas guys ???

Hi all - I just bought an auto 1994 expo sport. 109k miles, but 30k of that was towed behing a motor home. LOVE the car - but know nothing about it. Pros and cons please. And, what should I look out for. I want to take good care of it. I got it from a one owner who changed the oil regualry, but did not have other service records. I have not owed an automatic transmission vehicle before - and that makes me a little nervous - should I be?
Thanks - Lisa

Hi,
Im having a poor mileage on my RVR 4G63 93 model and read that it might be the O2 sensor so I tried reading the voltage of the O2 sensor thru the pin in ECU. The reading I have is 0.91 V (warm/cold engine) which means Im running rich. I tried revving upto 4000 rpm (not running - P mode) and suddenly depress the pedal but the reading does not change.
Is my O2 sensor defective or it just my car getting rich mixture always (thus poor mileage)? If it reads rich (approx 1V), supposedly the ECU will make it leaner right? How come I still have poor mileage?
Please give me some advice.
BTW, I observe that when I drive my car for a long time without resetting the ECU (unplugging the negative terminal of the battery), the car stalls for sometime. However, if this happens, I just reset the ECU and I can run normally again.
I already changed the ff:
1. Fuel filter
2. Air filter cleaned
3. Engine oil changed
4. Spark plugs cleaned
5. ATF fluid changed
6. Re-timing the belt
7. Changed the ECU capacitors
Im using unleaded petroleum with 93 octane.

hi, hope someone may be able to help me keep my 1992
Mitsubishi expo lrv (actually a colt vista import) alive. Just pushed 210,000 mile and it died in the driveway.
found that it had spark but no fuel delivery. It will run off carb spray when I shoot it up the intake. I removed the fuel filter and found no fuel was being pumped - also did not hear the pump running. pulled the pump access panel off under the rear seat and connected up a volt meter to the connector at the pump. No voltage with key on or when cranking or when running with carb spray for a second or 2.
Heres the question. Does any one know where the fuel pump relay or mfi relay or any other relay that may cause no power to the fuel pump is located ? The chilton book shows a diagram i of the computer with an connection to a fuel relay but does not state where the heck it is. I have pretty much torn this car apart looking for it.
I hate to scrap this car - it has been the best vehicle I have ever owend.
Thanks for you help!

Hey folks, howdy from TX, my first post here, got a 95 Expo with a 2.4, the other day my wife noticed a sound and loss of power, then a few days later it appeared the timing belt was breaking, pieces of rubber were breaking out of the cover, but all I found was a small cut in the timing belt. What I found were pieces of the balance shaft belt, I checked the cam timing and it was about 12 degrees of crank advanced, I guess the other day when it lost power and made a noise the timing belt jumped, probably due to the balance shaft belt shredding.
Now the question, now the cam timing is off about 12 degrees, and it has been running like that, smooth with a very hard idle, so I don't think any valves were bent. Are these engines prone to valve bendage?
Thanks for the help.

Hi, My 95 RVR 2.0l auto just lost reverse. Goes forward but sometimes loses drive.
Events before this were: several jump starts due to shot battery (now replaced).
I have read all the post re: TCU & hope this may be fault as possibly effected by above bat problem.
Does anyone think that this is a possibility before I go to the gbox? Most posts say Limp-Home mode has reverse.
There is also sometimes a vibrating/clicking sound from the unit at tob of trans where the wiring enters if reverse selected with motor running. this come & goes.
Any suggestions welcome please.

Hi all,
I am new here because there isn't much info on the net concerning these great vehicles. My wife and I have had a gray import 95 model RVR for the past two years and love the car but the front shocks are totally shot having blown the seals.
I'm sure there are members here who can point me in the right direction for obtaining replacements along with the more common front suspension rubbers and bushings.
Are there parts from other vehicles that can be swapped in place of the hard to get RVR parts? Here in St. Lucia there are very few and other owners have been paying the local Mitsubishi dealer through the nose to special order parts direct from Japan.
There must be a cheaper way!
Thanks in advance for any help that anyone can offer.

Hi,
I recently purchase the 1996 Mitsubishi SportsGear RVR v20 4WD. Unfortunately, while travelling on rough Kenyan roads the left driveshaft came off. It was repaired after it was found to have a broken chassis around the left wheel. After 2 2 hours of driving it merrily, my joy was cut short when an orange light showing a skidding car enclosed in a circle lit up. Since then I have tried to find out the cause of the trouble but no one seems to know.
Some help from here or suggestions will be highly appreciated.

[attachmentid=5177]Hello, I have a Mitsubishi RVR 1996 and I am in Australia.
I do not have an owner's manual.
There is a red light that comes on intermittently on the dash (but not really so often) which I suspect to be a catalytic converter light - but I am hoping someone knows what it actually is? picture attached or could be viewed at:

Hi,
Can anyone here send me a circuit diagram for the power mirrors of RVR-X? When I bought my car the power mirror controls were missing but I found the cable where the controls should be attached.
Questions:
1. Do you know any replacement of the controls from Galant, Lancer, Pajero or L200? The are the models locally available in our area.
2. Do you have the pinout for the cable? I think I can make my own control keypads if I cannot find any replacements.
Please help.

Anybody here knows how to trigger the rear water sprinkler of RVR-X 93. I can trigger the front by pulling the wiper control stick towards me. I tried the reverse and nothing happens.
Also, how can I adjust the sprinkler at the front? Can I just pull the cover with a pliers? I looked for a screw under the hood but was not able to find them.

Hi,
I need help on my RVR-X 93 4G63 16V engine. After I send it to a shop to repair the squeking noise in the engine, I observed that whenever I set the transmission to N or P, the RPM increases from 800 - 1500 up to 2000. However, if I change it to D (while stepping on the brakes), it goes back to 800. I notice this especially when the engine is hot. The shop told me that they just adjusted the timing belts and replaced the tensioner.
Please advise if the symptoms I have is due to the poor quality of the timing or not.
Thanks.

RVR TDI recently low revs power started to reduce (below 2000 rpm) I diagnosed a failing turbocharger. As I would expect the engine was producing large amounts of black smoke if given full 'throttle' due to lack of air this clearing as the turbine comes to speed. Quantities of white smoke are then produced but exhaust clears as engine speed continues to rise.
I have now replaced the original turbocharger (it does show a little wear) but to my horror the symptomes remain unchanged !
The vehicle has 80,000Km on the clock, the engine starts well and sounds perfectly normal.
I am now forced to admit that I have come to the end of my knowledge, any suggestions out there please?
A workshop manual would help if available??

near stealthy silent GDI engine. If anybody care to look it up, the GDI engine is iirc about 32% more fuel efficient than convectional engines.
For a car its size, the handling is not bad but nothing like the FTO. Conering is well managed and aint too much body roll - Probably due to clever suspension and the fact that it is not a fast car....Overall it manages to strike a right balance in terms of handling.

GDI aint mean it is a diesel engine!
More images and what i think to follow.

My aircon fuse keeps blowing, but it will work fine if i keep the engine revs down, if i have to overtake for example, and rev the engine, it pops the fuse, my only theory is the compressor pump is the problem, but it seems free enough to turn by hand...
Has anyone else had this issue?

I have a 91 RVR and it is stuck in third gear. I pulled the TCU and there seams to be some water damage. The mechanic can't pull codes either, so this tells me I am going in the right direct. My problem is I can't find a TCU anywhere (MD750104/G1T11675E). Can anyone help me with this problem?
