Hello Mitsubishi folks!
Im new to this Forum, recently switched my choice of cars from the (cursed) Subaru WRX to a Lancer.
I am 18 and in college, so affording a Lancer wasnt in my next few years.
I found a 1998 Mitsubishi Mirage for 200
A little about it.
Sedan (4 door)
1.5L engine
195K
Maroon
etc.
Unfortunately
Ive been letting my sister use it until she can buy a car, and a guy side-swiped it in a parking lot and now I have a nice dent in the back...
Nearly 200k miles (time for a Lancer engine swap!) HELP!
Some body damage ^
Does anyone live in the Beaverton/Portland/Hillsboro/Aloha area that might come look at it, and help me out?
I want to be a diesel mechanic, engines have been my life since I was 6, but they were all muscle cars and had very simple engine layout.
If you have spare parts that would fit my car (body parts especially) I wouldnt mind taking them off your hands for you or maybe can pay..?
Let me know

Also would be interested in some modification ideas/pictures?

Well, I'm 18, and I just recently bought my first car for $500. It's a 1991 Dodge Colt, automatic, stock, and I have some questions about it.
It's in pretty damn good condition, engine wise, for its age. No knocking or anything... but I'm not much for speed anyway. I mean maybe sometime in the future I'll do an engine swap or something for bragging rights, ya know? But at the moment I'm more interested in looks.
So, I'll just go ahead and throw the few questions I have at the moment out there.
1. Where could I find a body kit that would fit it, and around how much would it be? The cheaper the better.
2. Where's the best place to find cheap replacement parts, specifically interior, for these cars in a state like Georgia? I've checked 7 different salvage yards in my area. None of them had one, or any parts for it.
3. What's the best way to get better acceleration? It seems to be sluggish on the get up and go.
4. Cheapest place to get body modification parts for it?
5. Any advice, suggestions, or things I should know about this car with it being my first Colt, and car in general?
That's all I can think of for now.
Thanks in advance.

hey I am very fimilar with cars but have always been into other types of cars never a dsm but i found my new sleeper/dailydriver... I want to get this project on the road and have a couple of questions before i can get parts... But first let me show off this three door beauty!!!
1994 Eagle Summit AWD
Automatic
228xxx Miles 4g64 Singlecam

Its Got 228xxx miles on the ol 4g64 and i want this to be a quick swap so theres less eagle downtime so im goin with a 4g63t swap... Im going to keep it automatic due to the fact its my DD, Ive been doing my DSM research and have come to the conclusion that a 2g automatic awd tranny will bolt up and a 1g-2g 4g63 (7 bolt if that even matters) is the motor for this... Im sorta new to the dsm thing like i said so i might have missed something but all of that should work with the gears in the summit i think... if you have any advice / info er whatever just post away im excited to learn more!!

my car has been acting weird lately. i went to start it about a week ago and it was completely dead, nothing was left on or anything so i figured it must be a bad battery cuz it was at only 4 volts when i tested it. I bumped started it and drove it around, nd the battery charged enough agan to start on its own. the same thing happened the next day! so i check the volts the alternator is putting out and at idle its at about 14.4 so i figure its not the alternator, i get the battery tested and its still good. so i had the alternator tested and the bearing was messed up so i replaced it. but now i cant get the belt to be silent, it squeals and the other night it died on me when i was driving it. and when i turn the ac on i hear a grinding noise, does that mean the compressor is no good anymore because its only a year old. its too early to tell if the main problem of the battery dying is fixed cuz this was only yesterday and the battery is still holding 12 volts after driving around.
anyone ever have this happen?

Hey guys how's it going i hope you could help me out.....
Currently i have a 1990 colt with a 4g93t fwd ...i have a t3/t4 to put on as well as some 510 injectors and plan on using a megasquirt management...now to the meat of the matter: i recently found a 1990 4wd mirage shell but it has no drive shaft i want reuse my 4g93t in this shell and was wondering if the drive shaft from the evo 1 2 or 3 will fit this chassis if not what other options do i have..i was thinking of the ex lancer ....and also will i have to get the 1800 gsr 4wd gearbox or will the evo 1 2 or 3 fit and what are my options if not..
reason i ask about the evo 1 2 or 3 is because that is what is mostly found where im from (Barbados) the 93t is quite rare ..there are lots of ex lancers ..L200's are common as well....any form of advice is welcome guys thanks

HI,
recently my mitsubishi mirage 2001 ES 1.8 ltrs. turn on the SERVICE ENGINE SOON, I put the OBD READER in and shows me the
P0421 Error
Warm Up Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)
searching in the internet I found some solutions
The catalytic converter is no longer functioning properly
An oxygen sensor is not reading (functioning) properly
A sparkplug is fouled up
I have some questions,
how I can check the correct functioning of the catalytic converter?
what are the correct voltages for sensors in Bank 1?
I now checked the spark plugs and it seems good,
thanks...

So my battery has been draining lately and i figured it out that it was the amp staying on while the car is off. I put a kill switch on the amp and then all of a sudden my car wont start. The car is getting juice and the batt is putting out 12.6 so i dont know what the heck the prob is. I checked all the fuses and such, not sure its a relay or something or the starter cable got messed up somehow.
It does have an anti theft device if u pull out a chip it wont start but i don think thats it. Any Ideas!!

Hello, just had a few q's. Is there an aftermarket mirror that will fit the passenger side of my 1990 colt? I really want to have two instead of the one on the drivers side. And ive seen ones on youtube with tach clusters. WHere do you get those and how hard are they to install? Just picked it up for free, needs a bit of work but im pretty sure it can be done for under 400 dollars.

Trying to locate bushings for the rear suspension on an '83 Dodge/Plymouth Colt
Mine are shot and the rear axle tube moves around a lot.
The parts where the 2 halves join would be nice to find as well, but not as bad as the bushing on the ends.

I have a 92 dodge colt and about 4 days ago I took off not really hard but with a little gas and shifted to second and something happened. It got really loud like the exhaust fell off and had no power I did not think it was going to make it the few blocks to home but I got it back. The motor was really vibrating like the firing order was changed or the timing became way off, at low rpm it was like it was going to die and at mid rpm it would smooth out a little and then have a little more power, and there have been no oil or water leaks under the car. After I got it home that day I have not started it for worries of making what ever happened worse. I have only had the car for like three weeks and this happened a few hours after the first long drive on the car since i had bought it the drive was about 120 to 150 miles round trip could this be a problem that the car already had and the long drive worsened? I have only put about 500 miles or so on the car, his mechanic said the car was in good shape except for a small vacuum leak(witch I was about to fix when this happened witch is now the least of my worries)
What happened to my car?
What should my next step be?
Should I take it back to the car lot and try to get them to fix it?
Are they in any way obligated to fix the car or is this a as/is situation I don't really know I had never bought a car through a car lot before I had always stuck to privet owners?

Hello guys
I have a 97 mirage 1.5 coupe. I'm planning on going with a 4g64 engine swap form a 3G eclipse/8G galant. then later boosting wtih an evo 8 head. Either that or get the 1.8 GDI off of ebay. just to be a lot different.
And as for the car as it sits. It is lowered in the front 1.75 on Dropzone springs. Clear headlights and DIY clear corners. HID conversion. 17x7.5 Superior rims painted black wrapped in 205/45/r17 Nankangs. Ebay alarm system.
now for the engine, Ported intake manifold, RPW header, Cheap ebay muffler. Sounds nice though. CAI. power steering delete. the oh so rare REVO short shifter.
sound, pioneer head unit, pioneer 6.5 all around. Rewired all the speakers. Terminator 400W amp paired with 2 12inch MTX speakers.
and now the photo shoot

oh yeah custom trunk board

So my ? is, is there any way to adjust the clutch throw so that the clutch is disengaged and reengaged sooner it is hard for me to get my foot to the floor while not touching the wheel to much. Now I know that sounds bad but it sucks driving this way, so any ideas would be nice

Hello on the Mitsubishi forum, first post for my first Mitsubishi(actually dodge colt). I'm looking for a step by step for drum brake to disk brake conversion I hate drum brakes. I'm hoping for a just strait bolt and play setup but that's probably just wishful thinking though. I'm interested in the rear brakes everything needed for the conversion calipers, disks, hoses, and anything else needed, free or really cheep is preferable. I was told the parts off of a 89 colt gt will work I know nothing about these cars i was strictly BMW before this so i need all the info and help thanks and later

My 88 Colt 1.6L Turbo used to, for lack of a better word, miss, when the turbo topped out. The engine would basically cut out for a few revolutions and then revive itself only to miss again seconds later. This would happen consistantly as long as I had the turbo topped out. I tried replacing the spark plugs and resetting the timing but nothings changed.
Yesterday, I pulled the distributor cap and cleaned up the cap and rotor. After taking it for a test drive, Ive now noticed that the problem actually got WORSE. Now, It starts fine, idles consistantly, and even drives, but if I put too much throttle into it, at any RPM, it stalls out until I release the gas. It then revives itself.
I've now replaced the distributor cap and rotor completely, replaced the fuel filter, and replaced a few of the weathered vaccuum hoses. There has been no change. I have a couple ideas but, before I go dropping $400 on a new fuel pump, or buying a new ignition coil and leads, I figured I should try here. Could it have something to do with the turbo? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Im running out of options.
Thanks for the help.

My friend has an 87 Plymouth Colt with a 1.6L turbo. The problem is that he can not find a intake manifold gasket for it anywhere. Supposedly it has been discontinued. My question is, does anyone known where he can get one? I have the feeling that is not the only hard to get part on this car, is there any part stores that deal specifically with this car?

is there any aftermarket coil packs for a 2002 Mitsubishi Mirage LS Coupe? this is probably the stupidest idea they have had. there is no direct connection for the spark. the spark travels from the pack through a spring to the conductor then through another spring to the spark plug. i replaced my old spark plugs because i was getting a cylinder 2 misfire. the spark was arching to the porcelain on the plug. i replaced them with the stock NGK's and it did it again. i'm thinking about just getting a whole new type of igniton system.

Where can I purchase a timing kit for a 1999 Mitsubishi Mirage Dingo chassis CQ2A with a 1.5L 4G15 DOHC engine? The local Mitsubishi dealer is failing to locate the correct timing belt for this car in their database. However, the dealer has managed to locate the other parts viz. Tensioner + spring + idler (which they can order).
The part number I have is MD365803.
From a google search, this timing belt belt is also found on the following vehicles: 1998+ 1.5L Lancer / Mirage with these part numbers: MD366043 / MD368413
According to some other supplier, the correct timing belt has the following characteristics (not sure if this is correct): 25mm, 141 Teeth, 8mm Tooth Pitch, Round Form

Hi all, my Colt had been running really badly, jerking at low speeds since I took the engine out and replaced the water pump. So I decided to rebuild the carby and clean it out. It was dirty as hell, and I figured that this must be the cause of it. Anyways since I put it back together after cleaning it and using a carby kit it's running worse! It barely runs, jerks like hell... Either I didn't rebuild the carby right, there's still too much carby cleaner sitting in the engine, or I didn't connect all the vacuum hoses up properly. Any body have any ideas.. I'm at my wits end, can't afford a mechanic as I've sunk too much money into this car as it is
I tried my best to follow the diagram for the hoses in the Haynes manual, but it didn't seem to match what I had! Could the vacuum hoses being incorrectly connected cause it to run this badly?
Hope someone can help!
thank!

Im wondering what engines are out there for an 88 Colt? Im running the 1.6L turbo but its pushing some pretty solid blue so my question is, what are some alternative engines, how available are they, and how much? Id really like to upgrade but a replacement of the same would be fine. This one is pretty beat and Im not really into rebuilding it. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Hello to all. I have a couple of questions re the main computer (brain) on a 1994 Colt with the 1.5 engine and 5 speed manual.
Is the brain located inside the car, close to where your right foot would be if you were a passenger sitting in the front seat? Kinda right in the right front wheel well but inside the car?
There is also a metal box located between the 2 front seats just underneath the plastic console that contains some electrical/electronic stuff as well.....................what is this metal box? It is mounted just underneath the plastic console where you have a bit of a "dish"................your change ends up going in there, and you sometimes lean your right elbow on it when you drive.
Thank you

i just bought a 1992 dodge colt 1.5 5spd. well i put a battery in and went to start it and all i got was CLICK. so i pulled the starter and hooked it to the jump box and it spun kinda slow in turn i pulled the end cap and cleaned the brushes. Tried again and it works like new. Reinstall it and hit the key and yet again CICK. I crimped a terminal on a section of wire put it on the small terminal ant touched it to the positive terminal and the motor turns freely. WTF?? That was saturday and today i start to inspect the fuel system cuz i cant hear a fuel pump. i disconnected the line from the bottom of the filter on the firewall and turn the key on, no fuel. I leave the key on and hit my starter wire (and even try with my father in law holding the key in the start position) just because i heard somewhere that these pumps dont turn on until the ECU gets a crank signal, not so suprisingly i have no fuel coming from the line. I do still have all my other key on accessories. Could these two problems be related at all? I did order a fuel pump (23 bux NIB from ebay)

i had just started my car in the morning and turned on my rear window defogger. i had the front window defrost on all the way to the highest setting. i got a little ways down my road and it made a click sound and all the air stopped and my defrost button turned off. i found out later my automatic door locks dont work either and it makes a buzzing sound at the back of the fuse block under the dash on the drivers side. i checked all the relay's and they are good as well as all the fuses.

My Car Has Been Acting Up At WOT every since it fell off those small ramps you use to gain access under your car.
it ran fine/perfect before that happened. The thing is after i came off the ramps i finished with my tune up and took the car around the block and it was sputtering and sounded like a go kart at any rpm. so i came back popped the hood and came to find one of the plug wires came off the distributor popped it back on and took another run , and noticed the car ran good as long as i didnt go WOT . When im in 2nd ill floor & get throw into my steeringwheel it will sputter/decelerate & the engine will sound like WAAAAAAAA!!!! When Its Decelerating and sometimes backfire. in say 4th ill go Wot and it will just sputter and not accelerate .. im stumped
WHAT IV DONE SO FAR
2X BRAND NEW PLUG WIRES AND PLUGS (gapping them what it says under hood , gapped them at the lowest and it seemed to help for a lil , but not much)
CAP AND ROTOR
MAF sensor from same car at junkyard / CLEANED OUT WITH MAF SPRAY
+ i have the records and receipts from the guy who sold me the car and he
replaced the whole Distributor about 2 years ago , Timing Belt 4 years ago , & Fuel filter a couple of months within selling me the car
looking at the all the receipts he took real good care of the car .
So im thinking its a Ignition problem , the shop was trying to tell my my vavles were bad and i thought that was BS ,
Im thinking the ignition timing is off or cam timing
HELP ME PLZ

Hi all I've got both a colt and a hyundai, they are pretty similar from what I've heard. My Hyundai exel 92 radio has broken off at the top where the hose connects, and I have a spare 87-89 colt radiator in storage. I'm wondering if I can replace the hyundai one safely with the colt one? Does any body know?
Thanks
