alright guys. ilike many of you with the nav package have noticed, once the car starts moving it is impossible to watch a movie. u can only hear the sound. we all know tha is for safety reasons, however there is people who put lcd's all over the car. my question is this.. ever since i got the car I notced an input jack on the botton of the screen, that u can only see when the screen folds down to put a cd in.
when i asked the dealer during the test drive, the guy told my that was the input to connect ur ipod. ( which is not true).
then someone who knew what was talking about in the dealer told me to never touch or connect anything into it, cuz its for updates or modifications to the system.
so based on that..do u guys know if it is possible to overwrite that safety feature that prevents the screen of showing movies wile the cars is rolling? or does one have to get a whole new system to have that feature? any feedback?!?!?

Hey all! My 09 Lancer hit the 6,000 klicks and with every week it rattles more and more. Even when i play certain types of music at volume 30 and bass set to 3
Did any one attempted to fix the problem?
from my observations rattle comes from that pocket in the door, where it's so flexible and just resonates with music. Also i believe the speaker grill rattles alot since it's not that rigid either.
Any suggestions on how to make it more rigid?

Since I work in the computer / IT support field I frequently ask myself, what were the programmers thinking. Today I asked that same question after manually resetting my service reminder.
The manual says once the service reminder displays - - - if you just leave it alone after a certain amount of time and miles it will reset automatically to the next service interval. I did my service weeks ago and when mine started displaying - - - I figured I'd just leave it and let it reset on it's own. After 300+ miles and about a week it still had not reset. I reached my next interval 22,500 and it still didn't change so I decided to reset it myself so it would start counting the next 7500 miles which would get me to 30,000 miles.
The manual says with the key in the OFF position switch to the service reminder screen, then press and hold the info button until the wrench starts flashing. Once it does, release the button and press it again to display clear, then the manual says "after that, the time until the next periodic inspection is shown". It doesn't make it clear if your supposed to push the info button again after it shows clear, even though the pictures in the manual show another screen. So after clear displays, I press it again. When I do this, it shows 7500 miles or 6 months. I figure ok cool it must now be set correctly. But since I always want to see what features I might be missing, I figure let me push it again and see what happens. I do this and it switches to 15,000 miles or 12 months. I figure ok cool, I can choose 7500 or 15000 miles. So I say ok let me switch it back to 7500 so it correct. I press the button again and nothing happens. Ok so I figure I have to clear it again and set it to 7500. I try that, and nothing, it does not clear or change. No matter what I do it is stuck on 15000 miles until the next interval.
As far as I can tell there is no way to clear it again or set it back to 7500, I'm stuck with it counting down from 15000 miles. Once it gets there I can clear it again and set it back to 7500. I can't believe the programed it this way. You should be able to clear it when ever you want, or be able to choose 7500 or 15000 at your choosing, instead of setting it just once and then you can't again until it counts down to 0. If they wanted to avoid you resetting it by mistake, they could have just program in a "are you sure you want to do this?" message.
So anyway, if your resetting your own service reminder interval, just follow the instructions, but be careful not to go past the 7500 interval (unless you want 15000), because once you reset it your stuck with which ever interval you choose until it counts down to zero.

Hey guys I'm ready to install an aftermarket deck, and i'm looking for a wiring diagram. I understand that wiring harness should do the trick,
but it's always good to know what that extra pink wire with a white strip means or something like that.
Also where can I find a guide on how to remove the stock unit, plastic that it's made off is so soft that I'm scared to play around with it not knowing where all the clips and bolts are.
Thanx for any help

So i was sitting around playing with my new JVC touchscreen I had installed and "POP!!!" blew out one of my subs. They weren't very old but not to upset since I payed 40$ for them (a buddy was hammered and didn't even remember selling me them the next day hahaha) Probably going to replace them both just with a single sub in the trunk (would like some of my trunkspace back) just wondering if anyone has any recomendations on a single sub that is still going to pound. I love the low bass and love to hear the system pound, and have had my trunk Dynomatted so rattling is not an issue...
I will probably be keeping the same amp I am running now, it is a Pioneer PRS-D2000T, a full-range 150 watt x 2 (@ 4 ohm) rated amplifier that Pioneer refers to as Class FD...The PRS-D2000T sports a HP/LP/All-Pass 12dB crossover that ranges from 40Hz to 120Hz and a remote bass boost controller...

While looking thru the car manual for something entirely different, I started reading about the Rockford Fosgate 6 cd changer system. Here are some useful options / settings I found that I did not know the stereo had.
I only listen to MP3 cd's, this way I can have anywhere from 60-90 albums to listen to at a time using all 6 cd's. One thing I never could do was shuffle and entire mp3 cd. I could shuffle inside a folder, but not the entire mp3 cd.
To shuffle an entire mp3 cd:
--Choose the mp3 cd you want, press and hold the RDM button for more than 2 seconds. The display will then show D-RDM. It will now play random songs off the entire mp3 cd.
Another thing that bugged me was when playing mp3 cd's the display would show the folder name or the mp3 file name. Since my mp3 files have the track number in the name to keep them in the correct order on the cd, the number would always display too and cut off part of the name. I have now discovered that the stereo will display the ID3 tag information instead of the file name. It will show the artist name, album name, or track name. (note: you have to enter the ID3 tag info into the mp3 file before burning it to cd)
To view the ID3 tag info:
--With a song playing, press and hold the DISP button for more than 2 seconds. The display will then switch to ID3 tag display mode.
Speed sensitive volume function. Many do not like this feature.
To turn it off:
--Press and hold the SOUND switch for more than 2 seconds. (sound switch is the knob on the right) The SVC menu will come up. Turn the sound knob left or right to turn the feature off or on. I turned mine off and noticed a louder stereo. We can now get the full potential out of the stereo.
Radio Broadcast Data System. This allows you to have your FM stations display info, like station name, artist, album, and track name. (the station must broadcast this info for it to display)
To turn RBDS on:
--Press the PTY button, choose your music category, press the scan button. The stereo will find stations within that category. Once found it will display the RBDS info for that station. save the station into a preset if desired.

I've been on these on Mitsubishi forums ever since I got my Lancer a few months ago, and this one is by far the best!
I purchased a Kenwood DNX-9140 2 weeks ago and it finally arrived today. I've never installed car audio of any kind before so I'm lost about how the wiring should go.
I ordered the Scosche dash kit along with the Scosche wiring harness(they haven't arrived in the mail yet)
Now as far as wiring goes, for example, if the Kenwood wiring harness has a Red wire I just connect it to the Lancer's Red wire on the harness? speaker to speaker, so on and so forth?
If there's a wire on either of the harnesses I don't use do I just leave them alone? Tuck them away?
Thanks for helping me out in advance!

Hi all, so as some of you know I installed a kenwood dnx-9140 into my 08 lancer gts. since my gts came with sirius radio already put in im wondering if i can still use the factory sirius decoder for my HU. I contacted kenwood and they said i have to get 2 parts to get it to work with my HU (SC-C1 Sirius tuner and the model CA-SR20V adapter). Has anyone added sirius to theirs with an aftermarket HU?
Thanks

I'm looking to add another 10 or 12 inch sub to my trunk, but I don't know if I'm going to need to get another amp to either power the new one separate or power them both together off the new amp? Also, I don't know whether I use a new amp if I'll still be able to control the bass settings for the subs through the mitsubishi head unit/navigation...
So, my question is does anyone know what kind of amp came stock with the GTS that is powering the 10 inch rockford fosgate sub? And do you think it will be powerful enough to power two of them?

Hi all, I just got a 2008 Lancer GTS fully loaded and with the sound and navigation package. I really like how it rides and the exhaust makes a special feeling when driving. The previous owner had some customization work done to the speakers and amps, he got rid of the whole stock speakers [Rockford Fosgate] and installed Alpine ones with a Pionner amp, now I am trying to make few changes and may revert some to its original condition.
First - I'd like to know if any of you know the model of the Fosgate amp and Sub it came with the original setting, I will need to get another amp to connect two extra 6x9 Kenwood plus the original subwoofer [he had another set of subs connected to a more powerfull amp - that he took out of the car before sellling it to me] and I need to find out the best power amp to feed them. In addition, I'd like to know what's the best recomendation as far as tweeters to replace the ones [already blown] on the door, I need to change the blown ones. Maybe the Fosgate P1T?
Second - His customization used the back channel on the navigation system/radio/player to feed the subs he had, now I am trying to revert to its original set, where the back channel will be dedicated to the back seat speakers, the new kenwood and the stock sub in the trunk. Does anyone knows the easiest way to reach the back of the nav system?
Third - The maps I have is dated back to 2005, is this latest? If not, may someone be kind enough to provide a link, so I could download the latest and greatest [US-Canada maps].
Fourth - Is there a way to import contacts to the nav and handsfree, via bluetooth? Either from a computer or a phone.
Thank you all in advance.

Well....towards the end of the month, my free 6 month subscription end. By that time, in the 6 months of owning the car, I would have racked up OVER 10,000 on the clock. Yes I do alot of driving
Sirius has been calling & calling EVERY STINKIN DAY! Those people are really annoying! They want me to renew my subscription, but they aren't offering me any deals.
$142.45 for 1 year?!!!1 I don't think so!
$12.95 a month....paying month by month....NO! Too much money!
Besides when you have the optionof running a MP3 player...you get to really listen to what you want & not have to pay for it.
So when you all renewed your sub. to Sirius...did you get a deal & if so, what did you pay?
I would just like to get some sort of leverage if they call again.
THANKS!

In my 09 Lancer, the CD changer will only load one CD. No matter how long i hold down the load button, it never says load disc. I read the manual and it said to wait for a beep, which never comes.
Like I said before only one CD will load when you put it in the CD changer, but when i try to load another CD the autochanger will not change

Any one else had this type of thing happen? Help?

On the drivers side door we have the auto up/down power window feature. Does anyone know how this works? Is it a function of the switch or of the power window motor or both? I'd like to add this feature to the passenger door, so I'm wondering if I just need the switch or a new motor and switch or if it's even possible. Any info is appreciated.

I am getting a 09' GTS with the Fast-Key option in a couple weeks. The dealership said they can put in a command start for $650. A friend of mine installs car starters for a living and his cost on the price of the command start is $175, so obviously I would like to get it done through him rather than the dealership... He has been doing it for about 8 years and is damn good at what he does. However, he is having a hard time finding the proper bypass module in order to make it function properly. So what he has told me is that he doesn't even think that the dealerhship is able to do it and that they may be jerking me around about this...
So I was just wondering if anybody has a working command start on a 09 lancer with the fast-key option... Also, what kind of command start you have, (brand and model etc.) and any other information you can provide.
Hoping I can get a little more information before I confront the dealership on Monday and start asking a whole wack load of questions to try and find out if they actually can do this for me.
Thanks!!

Hello guys,
I´ve installed the "Power800" amp and 2 30cm rockford subs but there is a very low output from my stock head unit...
I am not an expert in such things, i tapped into my rear speakers for the signal for my amp..
In an other thread, you told me, that with an IPOD AUX cable from mitsubishi my radio will come alive, but iam not sure because the signal is very low
and the subs are playing all sounds (high/middle/low)...
Pls help me with that thing!
An other question : I have an "Kondensator in german" like this -->
http://www.hifiblowout.de/Auktionsbilder/CAP30SILVERL1.jpg and this awful thing is making my battery low.. i thing it is running all the time, also when i stopped the car? maybe some remote problems on it??
pls help me in that two things and sorry for my bad english!
best regards

Hey just baught my 09 lancer. I want to start with the sound, I like to get informed first tho!.
Is there any rca outputs on the stock cdplayer HU on the lancer se? Like in behind or something? And if so where should i put the power through the firewall.
If there isnt any RCA's I could just tap into the back speakers and mono style it right. Trying to keep the factory built in HU. I like how it looks.

As I spend a lot of time in my Lancer, I was looking for a good head-unit to pass the time. After much research I settled on the Pioneer DEH-P710BT. This unit has two usb inputs, bluetooth phone and music support, auxilary input, and iPod support.
Overall – 4 out of 5 StarsOverall I’m very happy with the Pioneer DEH-P710BT unit and I would recommend the unit. The interface and USB support have some issues, but the sound quality and feature set more than makeup for these weaknesses.
Setup2009 Mitsubishi Lancer
Pioneer DEH-P710BTMetra 7011 Dash KitMetra 70-7005 Wire HarnessSWI-PS Steering Wheel Control InterfaceBlackberry 8900 Curve16 GB SD Card with USB Adapter
InstallationInstallation of the head unit itself is pretty easy. The difficulty of the installation was due to the car itself and the Metra wire harness. The wire harness does not have all the wires needed to complete the installation and it is difficult to find exact information for a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer.
The Metra harness was missing the wires for the steering wheel controls and the powered antenna. I ended up buying a second wire harness, removed the wires from the second connector and completed the original Metra 20-pin harness complete. The steering wheel control wire colors in the 2009 Lancer were different than the online documentation for the SWI-PS Steering Wheel Control. However, the pin positions the document described were correct. The power antenna was a pink with blue stripped wire; I figured this out by following the antenna wire to a connector behind the stereo area.
The dash kit has a bit of a gap at the top. I’ll probably try removing the dash kit and take a blow dryer to heat the plastic so I can attempt to bend it to the proper clearance.
I installed the microphone for the Bluetooth Phone Calls on the steering column as this was an easy location to get to.
With the two USB connectors, mic input, wired remote for the steering wheel controls, antenna, wire harness, auxiliary input, there are a number of connections which should be made to the head unit, however as I previously stated, getting the head unit itself installed was not difficult.
Sound Quality – 5 out of 5 StarsI would not consider myself an audiophile by any means, so please take this with a grain of salt. Also, I prefer sound quality to loudness.
I originally intended to buy a good head unit as a starting point and then later add an amp and replace speakers. However, the Pioneer unit is more than enough for my small car and sounds great for any sound level I’m comfortable listening to. I might add a subwoofer for a bit of extra kick, but it is not really needed.
Interface – 3 out of 5 StarsThe main control of the unit is the joystick. You move the joystick right, left, up, down, rotate or push in to select. Unfortunately, it is overly sensitive to the right, left, up, and down directions and will often misinterpret your actions when trying push in the joystick to select a menu item. Attempting to select menu items with the joystick while driving is a very frustrating experience.
Some might find the lack of preset buttons to be an annoyance, however as I rarely listen to the radio; I do not have a problem with this.
Bluetooth Phone Interface – 5 out of 5 StarsThe Bluetooth phone interface works great and I have not had any issues. I can hear calls very clearly through the speakers. When asked, some people say there is a bit of an echo in my voice, but it is tolerable.
My contacts were imported seamlessly and contact selection with the built-in voice recognition is great.
Bluetooth – A2DP and AVRCP – 4 out of 5 StarsPlaying music and song selection via Bluetooth from my Blackberry works very well. Using Pandora on the Blackberry is a great experience.
My only complaint is while the latest version of AVRCP supports sending song information however the Pioneer unit does not support this.
CD Player – Haven’t triedWho uses CDs anymore? And with a unit with so many input options, 2 USB ports, auxiliary input, Bluetooth, iPod support, why bother including a CD player? Instead of a CD player, I wish Pioneer had spent more time working on the interface and USB issues.
Steering Wheel Controls – 4 out of 5 StarsWith the SWI-PS interface the steering wheel controls work very well with the DEH-P710BT. The Lancer has volume controls, forward, reverse, mode, and Bluetooth controls. The controls allow navigation through most menus, however there ability to select items. It would be nice if holding down the mode button, for example, worked as a select. This would assist with the difficulty of selecting with the joystick.
Wireless Remote Control – 1 out of 5 StarsSince I already have steering wheel controls, I don’t need the wireless remote control. However, in playing with the remote, I need to have it about a foot away from the unit for it to work, even after I replaced the battery. If you basically have to reach out to the unit, it defeats the point of a remote. Hopefully, my remote is just defective and others won’t have this issue.
iPod Interface – Haven’t triedI don’t have an iPod or an iPhone so I haven’t tried this interface. However, looking at the manual, it appears Pioneer spent a good deal of effort with this interface. It is unfortunate they didn’t spend this time with the normal USB inputs.
Tuner – 4 out of 5 StarsThe tuner works without issue, I don’t understand why they limited the number of presets to only 6 per group (6 AM, 6 x 3 FM). With the unit not having physical buttons, it would have been nice to allow you to have as many presets per group as you wanted.
USB – 2 out of 5 StarsWith the 2 available USB inputs in the unit, I expected this to be the strongest feature of the unit; however Pioneer’s implementation of the USB interface actually undermines the unit.
First, the head unit assigns the order of the folders on a USB based on the recorded sequence on the USB device. So if you randomly added folders to your USB device, it will display on the unit in this same order. I would understand behavior from a device in the 1990’s, but this is 2009, having the ability to display by genre, artist, album and song is standard and should have been provided with this unit.
Secondly, the documentation says the unit supports up to 6,000 folders. However, in actuality the unit will only display the first 499. As the default for most media managers is to have a folder for the artist and then each album, this really limits the amount of songs on a USB device. I have tried setting Windows Media Player to not have any folders, however with the inability to display by genre, artist, album and song, it makes managing a large collection of music problematic.
With 32 GB SD cards available and 64 GB promised end-of-year, I feel having strong support for playlists is essential. However the Pioneer head unit has no support for playlists on USB devices.
For all other devices I’ve used, when you are in random shuffle mode if you go to the next song it randomly selects from the songs in the playlist. The DEH-P710BT goes to the next song in the folder order, which most likely means that it will be the same artist. So if you aren’t in the mood for U2, but have all their albums, you will enjoy pushing the forward button a number of times to get to another artist (yes, this was a sarcastic comment

)
A big irritation of the USB is that if a device is not currently active, the head unit will not charge it. I was looking forward to having a place to plug my Blackberry and Bluetooth headset into for charging, however unless I’m actually listening to the Blackberry over USB I need to plug it into my car charger (with the poor interface for USB, I’d listen to your Blackberry or other Bluetooth device using Bluetooth instead of USB).
Poor support for formats other than MP3. I have not been able to get other formats to display on the DEH-P710BT. There might be a way to address this, but I just went ahead and converted everything to MP3 format.
Auxiliary Input – Haven’t triedThe unit has an auxiliary input, however with the other connection options I haven’t bothered to try using it.
Videos (Entertainment) – 1 out of 5 StarsThe DEH-P710BT has built-in short clips which can be set to play on the unit. Some of the clips have visual equalizers. My girls love the dolphin clip. Unfortunately, the selection of available clips is very limited and I haven’t found a way to new videos as a user. Since the unit supports firmware updates over Bluetooth, also allowing a user to upload clips over Bluetooth doesn’t seem to be a difficult.
Also, when using most of the videos, the displayed information on the screen is limited, not user controlled and the information displayed is often silly. For example, when using a USB device and having a video playing, the folder and file number is displayed. When you have a 16 GB device filled with music, this is rather meaningless information. Having the track name, cell phone signal and cell battery would be a lot more useful.
The videos would be a fun little feature if they were a bit more thought out, however unless my girls are in the car, I have them completely disabled.
ConclusionOverall I’m happy with the head unit, however with a bit more polish it could go from a good device to a great device. Hopefully, Pioneer will have a firmware update to address these shortcomings.
I hope this helps anyone considering the DEH-P710BT.

Am I the only one with this problem? Even at max ac and fan it is not enough to keep me cool in 80
Degree weather for short trips. I don't have the neat thermostat that the gts have.
What options do I have to boost my ac next summer.

So i was wondering if there was a way i could change the TPS sensors.
I purchased TPS sensors for my winter tires and i already have sensors on my summer rims. Mitsubishi failed to inform me that it would cost me a good chunk of change for THEM to change the TPS sensors every time i have to change my tires... So i was wondering if there was a way i could do it or something for the low tire pressure NOT come up on my info anymore?
cheers

Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem with their Bluetooth system??
Below is a description of the problem given to Dealer and Mitsu. They replaced the entire Bluetooth module yesterday and a few tries after reinstalling my phone and phonebook seemed OK.
I will keep trying it whenever I drive the car.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For half of 2008 the problem would occur approx 70- 80% of the time the system was used, in the past few months it has been every time the system is used.
There is only 1 phone connected to the system and this same phone has been deleted and reinstalled on numerous occasions in attempt to correct the problem. Voice training was completed on the system and made absolutely no difference to the symptoms.
A friend who also owns a 5speed VRX, 2008 model year is having the exact same symptoms.
The Problem
Start car and phone connects normally. The phone is constantly connected to system from initial start up when the following problem occurs—
Press Talk button and give command- CALL (NAME) as stored in cars phonebook.
System will not recognise name given but will respond with a random number usually 2-3 digits, sometimes with a hash symbol.
On a very rare occasion the number is over 10 digits long.
When asked for verification say NO and repeat CALL (NAME) same name or any other name in the cars phonebook and get the same result, ie random numbers.
Can repeat this cycle endlessly with the same results.
CANCEL and press HANG UP button to deactivate system.
Press TALK button to reactivate system.
Repeat, with the first command being CALL (NAME) and the system will correctly identify every name spoken stored in car phonebook immediately.
If the DIAL command is given along with the number to call the system will usually recognise this correctly on either the first or second system activation.
The problem is consistently with the CALL (NAME) command only on 1st attempt to activate and use system after the phone is first connected.
On rare occasions the Bluetooth system will not connect to the phone when the car is started. On restarting the car it will connect immediately.
Apart from these problems the system normally functions correctly.

Hey guys I'm going to get a GTS in october'ish I just wanted to know if anyone has a serious system in their lancers? I'm thinking of getting two 2000.1's wired to two Digital Designs 9512's for 4000Wrms daily. I won't be competing or anything but I was curious because I heard new lancers don't get high Decibels because of the design of the car? Has anyone got their lancer metered?
thanks in advance!!!

Im looking for a deck about 200-250max price range. a 1 Din. i wanna spend 300 overall on the deck, considering the rest of my car is amped and speakerd up. I need a deck for the cleanliness of the sound and loudness now. Any one have any suggestions? I personally like the Sony xplodes. They are black and something, but have a 120 S2N.Ratio and good power. But I never bought one. I heard the new kenwoods are good too.

so i have a 2008 lancer DE with the basic 4 speaker stock system. i bought a nice pioneer double din unit to replace the stock HU. my trouble is that the wiring harness i bought (metra 70-7005) plugs in but the wires do not match up to what is in the car. the unit is getting no power despite moving wires around within the harness to what i thought might match up with the factory end. has anyone had this problem, or have a solution?

I need help ASAP. I have the sun and sound package on my GTS. I got a Alpine head unit. Installed it myself and no sound, then I went to an audio shop and they said it was wired fine. they said I had the wrong harness crutchfield sent me a harness, but when I called them with the problem they said they do not make the harness for the factory amplified kit. What can I do??? Will there ever be a harness to solve this problem

So I was thinking today, which is never a good thing for me, and my mind spawned this great idea! It said I should use my leftover Dynamat to line the inside of the plastic stock Rockford Fosgate system subwoofer enclosure. My mind convinced me that it would sound better, the sub sound waves hitting plastic does jack squat for sound quality. So...well I think you know what came next.
This is actually not much of a tutorial, it's more of a picture fest to show you what everything looks like when you pull it apart. I will explain how to use the Dynamat and maybe some suggestions but there is no certain way to cut Dynamat for this to make it easy, so your on your own. OK! Now that I have flapped my jaw long enough already, lets just get to the good stuff, here goes! Oh and the volume of the stock enclosure is about 0.7ft I believe.
Step 1: I removed the subwoofer trim ring and grille. Normally by doing this you can remove the entire subwoofer, but not in this case. The Engineers who made this damn thing made it so we have to remove the entire enclosure to get the damn sub out! Thats ok cause Dynamating this thing while in the trunk would suck. Get that 10mm socket out and get ready, we have 4 bolts to remove. No worries though, its not hard to get to them and they are not welded on there.
Get these two at the top, easy to see, easy to get if you have an extension for the socket.

Then get these two down here, pull up the trunk mat for a second and get to work! No getting lazy or I am going to get pissed.
Step 2: GOOD! Glad to see you made it this far, that was easy, this next part is also easy...for now. The enclosure and sub are not very heavy so wiggle it out just a bit until you see the strand of wire connected to a harness and the enclosure.
Look here, see that? Yeah...thats the harness alright!!

Now you can pull it towards you to remove it from the sub enclosure like so...

And then press the black tab down and pull, it should slide off leaving you with this. Kinda sad isn't it? Hanging all there by itself...no sub enclosure to keep it company...STFU
Step 3: So if you think your all that and a bag of chips because you removed this, think again! It is not hard it all. This next step isn't hard either so lets keep working, we might actually get somewhere.
Look at that! The thing is only 5 or 6 inches in depth. Remove the trim ring and the grill. It has 8 screws so just use a standard philips to unscrew the silver trim ring. Pull that out and then the black grille should be easy to remove with your hands. Now we are ready to sell it!! ha! JK!.

On a more serious note, the sub wont budge until you unscrew the last screw behind it. The screw attaches directly to the magnet of the subwoofer, those clever bastards!
Step 4: Alright so now that you got your hands a bit dirty, we can start doing the manly work. Remove that subwoofer from the enclosure, but keep in mind its connect to the harness and the enclosure still so hold on to both of them.
Now that you have it out, unplug the wires from the terminals, they are easy to pull right up. Write down on tape what color wire goes on what side of the woofer, i don't think it matters but for warranty sake just do it. The bigger terminals are positive and the smaller are negative so you can't mess this up. If you have no idea what your doing dont worry, you cant put the negative on the positive when your putting this thing back together.

I just about crapped my pants when I read the back of the woofer magnet. I figured it wasn't going to be 650 watts but I didn't realize it was going to be only 75 watts. Or maybe its 75 watts per voice coil? So maybe its 150 watts, I am not sure. Zoom in on the picture and see it for yourself. I estimate that with this sub, and the 4 speakers, our systems probably come out to be about 175 watts RMS. RMS means real power for those that don't know. And I count speakers as a whole, the front speaker and tweeter together i consider one speaker. But if you want to be all anal, then 8 speakers plus a sub, happy? OH and one more thing, i think it also says on the magnet "1 ohm/ 1.1 ohm". Because of the two wiring terminals, I think this is a dual voice coil subwoofer. If its 1 ohm, that means its a dual 2 ohm subwoofer wired down to 1 ohm in parallel. But...by looking at how its wired it makes no sense. Or maybe its 1 ohm plus 1 ohm to equal 2 ohms? Maybe they bring the positive and negatives back to the amp and do the wiring there? I don't know, I take no liability for this information!!!

But don't get all angry at Mitsubishi and Rockford Fogate for lying to you cause they haven't...entirely. They say our systems are 650 watts MAX, all car audio companies advertise like this. With fake numbers they usually pull out of their rears or in some cases actually test. The max power is how much the system can handle for 1 second before it explodes. Anyway enough of this, i measured the sub and its about 4-1/2 inches tall. I know this picture does not show it very well cause my angle sucked, but hopefully you can take my word for it.
Step 5: Now I know what your saying, "Duff STFU already and get to the Dynamat part, that's what your writing all this crap for anyway, chop chop!" OK FINE! Here it is my friends, time to Dynamat. This is the part that sucks total A$$ especially because this isn't a box, and it isn't smooth inside.
See? Its a logistical nightmare of cross bars and some other stuff you cant see. In all honesty though now that I think about it...there were some more screws in the back of the sub enclosure that I didn't bother touching. They might have opened the enclosure like an egg, letting me more easily Dynamat the inside...FML if thats true. I wont be showing that in here because I just now thought about it, crap! Well whatever, damage is done. If you do this, see if it unscrews and opens up, should make it much easier.

Always cut all of your Dynamat pieces first before actually sticking them in place. Dynamat is a plastic compound with a tin foil like coating that deadens sound and insulates cars or sub enclosures or whatever you want. It cuts very easy actually, I laid it on a piece of wood that I don't use and cut it with a razor, push down hard and cut. I tried scissors but it took too long and it sticks to the scissors. Now what I did for the bottom piece is i put the Dynamat on the outside of the enclosure, pushed down on the edges and then cut those edges. Make sure if you do that, that you lay it down and cut it the right side up or when you go to put it in the enclosure it will be reversed and wont fit. Personal experience is speaking her ladies and gents, only one side is sticky. Your on your own for figuring out how to cut this, I just measure various insides parts and cut, see if it fits and move on. There is no easy way to do this, be patient, measure well and cut. For smaller peices, lay it down inside, press on the edges and cut the edges for a good fit.

See those black bars right there? They line the entire outer walls of the enclosure. I put Dynamat in-between them by measuring width and height and cut. But now that I think about it, you could probably take one wide piece and wrap it around those pillars, into the indentation, and back around the other pillar. I don't know, just an Idea. I kind of already finished so I cant go back and test any of this. Just get creative, take your time and try to cover up as much as possible. Missing a few small pieces is fine but get the bulk of it.
Step 6: I don't have any more pictures cause there is no point, but we ARE NOT DONE YET! Hopefully you have everything cut, but not stuck down. You need to get it hot if you want it to really stick well. Lay it out in the sun for about 10 minutes and that will do the trick. If not then take a hair dryer and heat up each piece before you peel the back and stick it. Stick it right because sometimes its hard to remove and try again. This stuff does an awesome job of folding and creasing and really getting into every corner and nook. So press firm and make it really hug the enclosure and its curves. That is pretty much it. Once you do all of that just button it all up and stick it back in. You survived!
I wonder if you consider this a cheap lancer mod? I bought a Dynamat Door Kit for my van, got one door, but well...I don't have it anymore so I used the rest of it on this enclosure. The Dynamat Extreme Wedge Pack ($20) should be enough for the enclosure but please don't quote me on that. Here is a link to a few different kinds, great prices too!
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/cat_m84_i14...-dampening.htmlSo I guess now is the part where you ask me if this is worth the 20 bucks (+S&H). It is hard for me to say, I think so. Its not going to make your sub suddenly sound like a super star, but it will make it a bit deeper, it will punch better, and it sounds cleaner. If you do this, please hear a song before, and after, I did not do that. I say do it, its cheap and a good experience. And if you place another sub in the enclosure, the new sub will sound better with the Dynamat insulating it.
Well kids it looks to me that our time is up! Next week I will be showing you how to get your co-workers fired, until next time, this is Duff, signing off!

I bought my 09 Lancer with navigation 3 weeks ago. The night I got it, I flew to Wisconsin for a 2 week vacation so I have only driven it for 1 week. I was reading the forums and I called my local Mitsu service department and the guy said they do have a 2008 update out for $200. Now, i just bought my car...should this not already be on it? My current nav is 2006 data. Should it not be the newest update? Or should they not give me the latest update for free?
I can tell you that I will never buy from Mitsubishi again, unless they have another great car, because of how incredibly stingy they are. I hear other people going "yeah ford/chevy/honda/etc gave me free **** and **** and then added in carpets at half the price and blah blah blah." I got my car and they said they detailed it but all they did was put tire shine on. The sales rep I bought it from says there is no Nav update but the parts rep does. And for some reason they only have rear mud guards. And of course they are adamant about offering everything at high prices, above website prices, and says there is no way they can go down on the price. Worst service I have ever had anywhere.
Another thing, if I wanted to add HID lights, why would it be 800 a side for just the light and enclosure when the touring package which has it, was only 1000 bucks more, which had rain sensing wipers and traction control? F Mitsubishi.

Does the iPhone work with the iPod cable that is an accessory for the Lancer GTS? I tried the cable in my friends Scion and it was not compatible with the iPhone, but was with his iPod touch. Is the Lancer's cable the same? I'm going to buy a Lancer GTS this weekend and would like some input. Thanks.

Is it possible to change the orientation of the navigation system? So in other words, can you change the view so that it follows the car turn by turn (so for instance if I turn left, left is now facing upwards on the screen) or are you stuck with the North, South, East, West orientation?

I'm thinking of picking up the 4" Perrin Shorty Antenna, as I enjoy the look of the stubby antenna more than the shark fin.
Only issue I have is I use the satellite radio quite a bit as well as GPS.
Does anyone have one of these, and does it work fine with Sirius and the GPS unit? If it is compatible, has your reception gotten significantly worse? (I live a bit in the boonies so reception is sometimes spotty at best, just worried a shorter antenna would put me in a black void of un-entertainment.)

im running a 12" kicker L5 and a 700 watt TMA audio amp, and my inline fuse under the hood keeps blowing. it only blows on hard, bassy songs. it could either be that the power wire is shorting out against the chassis where it goes into the car because the idiot who installed it when i had my stock radio in there just drilled a hole and didnt grommet the hole, and the hole is BARELY big enough to fit the wire through. or it could a bad ground. or it could be the sub. when the fuse isnt blown and i have it on a bassy song, it will start to smell really bad, seems like a burnt voice coil. what do you guys think?

I recently (3 months ago) purchased a 09 Lancer SE and did not take the 800$ option that had the electronic rust protection unit from the dealership BECAUSE I can and bought a CounterAct Electronic Rust Protection System for 200$ BUT now I am wondering where to install it OR better yet where does the dealer install it?
My instruction call for a flat metal surface away from car battery and close to firewall to cover as far back of the car possible but after looking at the firewall which is cover with some rubber shield or cover, I fail to see where I could install it and get good protection.
Can anyone tell me where his or hers is installed or where did they install theirs?

Hi all.
I cant seem to find the answer to my question.
I just bought a Lancer (not delivered yet) GS-4 with the Navi/mmcs 7" screen system installed. I've been reading that a lot of the American/Australian Lancers have a 10" sub fitted as standard with this stereo system.
My dealer in the UK didn't tell me about any sub woofer being fitted. Is this Sub also included as standard in the UK or other countries?
Thanx in advance!

Has anyone ordered this or have it? Is there anything else out there to use besides this from the factory. I have the Ipod Shuffle so its the cheap ipod and the adapter
from my dealer is $209.95 and from the mitsu disc parts is $150 I just can not see paying more for the cable than the ipod itself that is ridiculous. Any suggestions would be great.....

Just picked up my 09 Lancer GTS a few weeks back. Now that I am comfortable driving stick (my first stick car!), it's time to start playing with all the toys. I have had my car for 4 weeks, and haven't used anything but the radio.
The first couple things I am looking to do are:
1) Use the Bluetooth Capability on my phone
2) Connect an Ipod
Not really sure where to start for either of these seemingly simple tasks. Any help someone could provide would be greatly appreciated.
