Does anyone have a headlight wiring diagram, or know where I can find one for the GTS? I just got my HID kit and am ready to install it!

This awesome kit for such a great price didn't come with the only item that is specifically required to follow the instructions as listed in the sticky.
No extra 9006 cable

My question is... where the heck do I get one? If I have to, I could just do the mod directly to the remote turn-on plug, but I would rather not just incase for some reason I have to return the HID kit.
Thanks!

Hey guys: I'm going to start searching for a used GTS leather steering wheel to replace the plastic one in my Lancer ES. Before I start my search I wonder: anyone know if the Outlander steering wheel is identical? From pictures it looks the same, but I just want to be sure.
Also, I'm assuming I can just swap my airbag over to the new wheel, am I right? Buying a wheel with a blown airbag is going to be a lot cheaper than buying the whole kit 'n caboodle.

Has anyone thought of installing a aftermarket tach? I was thinking about doing it just for looks till I can get some good performance outta the car but I heard that with the old lancers it was difficult. Anyone got any ideas?

Hey everyone. I'm new to this forum and I'd like to greet myself first. I'm a new soon to be owner of a 2008 lancer GTS and I'd really like some feedback on what you guys think.
The thing is im not really looking for a performance car as of right now but in the near future ill be making some moves, but the purpose of this thread is to ask you what can I do to make this car look sexy as hell at the same time not to appear as a "poser" if you guys get my drift.
I want a body kit, HIDs, tinted windows, and some nice black rims to go with it. I might get a red, gray or white color. Is there anything else I should be paying attention to besides the mods I've already mentioned?
Is there also a site where they sell cheap car parts because I've been saving up quite a bit and I'm ready for a transformation asap. I've been looking at some of the 08 Lancer GTS pics you guys got and it really caught my eye. I was thinking about waiting for the 09 lancer but I don't want to wait and having a bit more horse power to me isn't really that big of a deal. I just wanna be driving already in style.
Now you know what I'm looking forward to getting and no I'm not a racer or anything. I just like to be in a nice looking ride. What are your suggestions for this??? I'd appreciate any good deals or ideas for what I can do to really fix up the look. Thx

Has anyone had any issues with a tapping noise at the base of the windshield where the cowl panel meets the glass? I've heard a small tapping every now and then since I purchased the car in September; But now that it's getting cold I hear it almost all of the time. I'm pretty sure the retainers need to be resecured, but I wanted to see if anyone else has been through a repair like this before I hit the good ole dealer.

I managed to damage two retainer clips which unfortunately no longer work properly and cause a portion my floor console to pop out quite easily.
I pulled on them wrong at one point and damaged both of them.
This is the location of the clips (going by the service manual) - highlighted in red:
[attachmentid=5782]
This is the photo with dimensions of the clip (red rectangle highlights the damaged area):
[attachmentid=5783]
Please if anyone knows where I can pick these up let me know! Online stores would be great, or any other place that you might know of I will try!!
I tried the dealer, they told me I can't buy just the clips, I'd have to get the entire part replaced. I tried a few local auto shops but they didn't have ANYTHING like that.
I will keep looking but I really really need your help if you might have any info on these or even have any for sale!

Option #1:
DRL will always stay on, but will not flicker.
You will need to buy a 16V 3300uF Capacitor at a local electronics shop.. 50cents max.
On the Relay that came with the HID kit, you will need to solder the capacitor to pins 86 and 85.

after that, you just plug the relay into its socket and you're done.
Some noes:
Remove relay from socket and use a voltmeter to measure the polarity in the relay socket on pins 85 and 86 to see which is positive and which is negative (when the headlight switch is in the ON position) - on most, terminal 86 is positive and terminal 85 is negative. The capacitor has a marking down the side indicating which terminal is negative

Now for Option #2. This is untested though but the guy is pretty positive it will work.
This is to have your DRL completely disabled basically. They key is, the DRL does not work on Lower voltage as everyone thinks, but rather a sinsusoidal waveform at 12VDC (this is better for the bulb longevity than running them at 6V)
Wiring a correct inductor will fix the problem, by not allowing electricity to go through until you flip the switch on and push regular 12DC voltage.
You will need to use Inductor/Choke (see picture below - calculated as 3 Henries or greater and available at electronics stores) in series with the relay wiring harness and the 9006 socket as per the diagram below:

1) When you buy an HID kit, most will come with 2 Ballasts, 2 Bulbs and most importantly the wiring harness and a RELAY
2) The relay is a small black box that has 4 or 5 connections on it (see pictures in above posts).
3) A typical automotive relay has 5 connectors numbered 85, 86, 87, 87a and 30 - we are concerned with 85/86
4) The relay is typically plugged into a socket which has 5 corresponding wires coming from it that go to the wiring harness
5) Take note of which color wires go to pins 85 and 86 of the relay
6) The 2008 Lancer DRL signal is a waveform at approximately 60Hz (Alternating Current - AC) whereas the Full Headlight On signal is Direct Current - DC
7) If we can use a method to "choke" the AC signal and only allow the DC signal, the relay (and thus the HID's) will be off in the DRL positions and ON in the headlights on position
8) A typical way to "choke" an AC signal is with a device ironically called a Choke or an Inductor (see pictures above of some typical inductors).
9) An inductor can be purchased at an electronics store, has two connectors/wires and is measured in Henries (or milliHenries mH or microHenries uH)
10) For our application, the calculated value required is approximately 3 Henries (this would be 3000mH or 3,000,000 uH)
11) If we splice one of the wires going to the relay (either 85 or 86) and connect one end of the splice to one end of the choke and the other end of the splice to the other side of the choke, we have now wired it in series and it will choke the AC signal
12) Soldering the choke to the spliced wire is recommended and it is best to cover the connections with electrical tape or shrink tubing

Page 7-43 in my Canadian Owners manual states in the "engine compartment fuse box", fuse #13 is the DRL lights. There are separate fuses for the high/low beams, so thus by removing fuse 13 the daytime running lights should cease, while the high/low beams still function correctly. I haven't tried it yet since I haven't installed my HID kit yet, but any feedback in the meantime would be great.
DISCLAIMER: I realize like most of you that this forum has many topic hits on DRL disabling for the HID flicker problem.

I am ordering HID head and fog light kits from mobilehid.com and when I talked to the guy he was already aware of the DRL problem with the '08 Lancer. He told me to get rid of the problem what I would have to do is splice the DRL's into the Parking lights wire/harness. I was busy when he was explaining this to me and im not quite sure if i got it right. If some knows what I am talking about or has done what he was telling me to do can you explain it in a little more detail and let me know if this works.
I plan on calling him back to write the instructions down but wanted to know if this is a known fix?
Thanks for the help

The power outlet (plug - whatever you wanna call it) in the floor console storage compartment always stays on.
I was reading the manual and the manual says that this outlet is functional in the ALL ignition switch position. Now, what they mean by that I'm not exactly sure!
There is no ALL position. "All" accessories are usable when the ignition is in the ON position. So do they mean that? Or do they mean the outlet works in All ignition positions!?!
Can someone confirm that theirs is also always on (i.e. even when the vehicle is completely turned off and the fast key is nowhere in sight)?!
I need it to go off basically is what I'm getting at.
Any idea what could possibly be done to do that without rewiring?
If not I will rewire it and switch that one with the cigarette lighter outlet (which i don't have a cigarette lighter in and that one won't get used).

I'm looking for a set of 4 black rubber floor mats that fit our Lancers. Preferably, the kind that say "Mitsubishi" or "Lancer", but I'm having the worst possible time looking for some.
All I get are ones that are pre-cut to fit our Lancers and have no design element whatsoever.
What's worse is that I called my dealership and they said that they don't have them available for our Lancers yet.

I was at the dealership for my first oil change and saw a red Lancer GTS on the showroom floor. It had embroidered leather seats, black and red, and a racing stripe from front to back. There were also decals on the both sides of the car that said "GTS." Has anyone had this done and have any pictures? The dealer said $1200 for the leather and $500 for the decals. Is it worth it to make my car stand out?
Thanks.

Hey might be a dumb question but does anyone know of a way to change the color of the instrument cluster (the speedometer and odometer) from red to maybe blue perhaps????? Or do you need to wait for some company to make a custom one for the car??? Just in my opinion a blue cluster would look nice in a blue car

I asked the dealer if they offer one or anyone else that they know of & they said no.
Just looking for a rear view mirror with auto tint & homelink.
For those who don't quite know what homelink is....it is basically a universal garage door opener that you program to open your garage door & up to 2 other ones...like your parents or a relative..... I had this on my last ride & it was handy....but I can't seem to find one for our Lancers.
They make a universal one with a built in compass which I wouldn't need....
Anyone?

I was reading the owners manual & it said that there is only like 1 screw holding the fog lamp housing on. Got to thinking....what if I was to paint the fog lamp housing the same as the car? It would help blend the front end a little more yes?
I asked the dealer about getting some paint & he suggested going to a body shop & see if they can do it. I am sure if I had a body shop do it it would cost a bundle....but it would lQQk really good. Especially if I added the top grills polished Billet piece on either side of the Mitsu's logo.
Suggestions? Ideas?

The weather was changing here from warm to **** cold than to warm again

I called the dealer and they said they will take a look at it.
Did you guys notice any fogging in your Lancers?

This stuff works!!! I have a basic GTS 5 speed. No Sun and sound, or navigation. but i went to car toys and got speakers and amp and a sub in the back. Got Dynamat installed in the floor and on the 2 side doors.
WAYYY BETTER RIDE. I can have a consversation at a normal tone without talking loud. Now i have the perfect car. The only knock i had on this car was that it was loud on the inside and the acceleration sucked. But well, the acceleration still sucks, but now It's quiet and the my music is as clear and loud as ever. In fact the highest i ever had the volume was 28 beceause anything louder would make me deaf.
Im happy as you can, see. invest in dynamt, it works.

I have read about people having there tints ruined by scratching and streaking due to the "rough" weather striping on the inside of the windows. So I bought a "tint protector kit" I found online that consists of moleskin/felt that is stuck on the inside of the weather striping. And I wanted to know if anyone has installed one on there car yet and how difficult it is to remove the door panels and how difficult the install is (do the tabs break easily).

hey guys when i got my gts about 2 weeks ago i read on the manual something about heated seats option, if available it said. the on/off bottons would actually go on a square shaped piece between the cup holders and the center storage compartment. do you guys know anything about this? i mean i live in florida, is not like i need the heated setas, but if i could have them... it would be a nice feature.
there re also three spaces for buttons on the left hand side of the steering wheel. any idea what are those for? for future uprades or something?

material seems durable and strong.
I'm not too sure wen I'm gonna get this done...I gotta find a place to paint it well and install it. I gotta make sure its a good place.
My one complaint is that someone told me they had functional vents..in which they do not have as u can see in the pic. I'm gonna have to send him an email.
I'll see if I can find someone to open the vents up..,just sucks that is gonna cost me more money to add that option which I will definitly do...no point to having bogus non functional vents
I"ll keep u guys posted on the install

Haven't seen a lot of postings about interior mods for the '08 lancer.
I just bought the car (waiting for it to arrive), and from what i've noticed, there doesn't seem to be an easy way to swap the deck for anything else, since the dash is one big plastic piece.
One more thing, the 3 a/c and heating nobs at the bottom of the center stack are pretty ugly. any places make replacement nobs?

Hey. Question to ya'll who put a vinyl (or some other material) strips on their front bumpers.
Are yours chipping?
I just noticed on mine a whole load of rock chips, and since my car is white it's starting to stand out. I never would have guessed the vinyl would chip! Perhaps I was sold some really shitty material.
I got mine shipped from eBay, from the Extreme Vinyls guy.
It was okay for a while but I only had it on for maybe a month or so, I can't even imagine what it's going to look like by the time winter is over!
