Hello all newbie to this forum I wonder if anyone with a 08-09 lancer drill out the baffles in the ugly OEM muffler to get some agressive sound out of it ? I dont care for the ricey sound out of the flow thu muffler, like the tanabe, flowmaster, hks, etc I dont drive hard just what to get a some grrr. out of the OEM setup. anyone experimented with this concept ?
Maybe i can get a 3 chamber high performance muffler and get my local exhaust shop to bend some pipes and cut a flange out and customize it ? anyone done this ?

Hi everyone I know I dont post here to often but since I am still getting blog questions I think the more this is out there in Forum last the more questions that will be answered. On a side note, this is strictly an informational post and not meant to advance Vendor interests.
Up first, The INJEN Interview
1. EVOSOUL: Your 2.0L Intake seems to produce a solid 9.23 HP, was this achieved on a Cali PZEV Spec Lancer (143HP)? If so what is the expected/projected gain on a FED Spec Lancer (152HP)?
Yes, the gains were achieved on a PZEV spec Lancer. The Gains you will achieve on the FED spec Lancer will be very similar if not more than the PZEV, due to the fact that the PZEV spec Lancer had an additional Catalytic converter to meet California’s emission standards. 2. EVOSOUL: What was the focus of your 2008+ Lancer 2.0L Intake? Looking at your Dyno Performance sheet, it seems that Peak Horsepower top of your agenda, were there any compromises you had to make to get that massive 9hp peak gain? (High vs low end or maybe HP vs. TQ )
Our primary focus when building any intake system is to make the most possible horsepower gains throughout the entire RPM range. We consider any drop of horsepower or torque below the stock base line to be unacceptable and will keep tuning until we draw out the maximum potential of the vehicle. With the Lancer as with any vehicle we design for, nothing is ever compromised. 3. EVOSOUL: Since the release of your COLD AIR INTAKE, Mitsubishi has now released a 2.4L engine variant. Do you believe the Intake sold for the 2.0L will suffice or would you consider making another intake for the 2.4L exclusively?
We just finished performing a battery of tests on the new 2.4L engine. The 2.4L ECU’s fuel & ignition maps is totally different from the 2.0L’s ECU. The intake system for the 2.0L will not work with the 2.4L due to the 2.4L engine requiring more air. Using our patented M.R. Technology and Air Fusion design process we were able to produce the desire HP/TQ gains and safe air/fuel ratio’s that the factory ECU would accept. The new cold air intake for the Lancer 2.4L GTS will be ready for release shortly.
4. EVOSOUL: The fact that not many problems have been reported with your 2008+ Lancer intake speaks volumes. Many other Intake companies such as FUJITA have been plagued with CEL issues, Were there any difficulties or hurdles that you had to overcome for this Lancer project?
There are always difficulties when designing an intake system for late model vehicles. Today’s factory ECU are getting smarter and we have to work in conjunction with it or it will either reject it (throw a CEL) or just adapt to the modification and adjust its long term fuel trims to make it run like factory. We closely monitor the factor ECU’s performance when designing an intake system. Using our M.R. Technology and Air Fusion design process allows us to stabilize and make sure the short/long term fuel trims stay within a given percentage. 5. EVOSOUL: You have an intake for the EVO X which also yields great results. More recently Mitsubishi has released a RalliArt Version that features the same powerplant as the EVO X, are there any plans to cover the Ralliart. *Note, RalliArt version has the battery under the hood instead of the trunk like the EVO. Can anything be done?
We do have plans to design an intake system specifically for the Ralliart. We are aware that the Ralliart has the battery under the hood and we are very innovative when it comes to design difficulties. We have a very talented design team here at Injen and they are equipped with some of the best prototyping equipment available like a 3D rapid printer, CNC milling machine, CNC mandrel bender, etcetera, etcetera. I’m sure this is a task they’re more than willing to take on. 6. EVOSOUL: Your MR Technology has raised the bar for Intake Technology in terms of performance. But are there any draw backs to running Rich?
M.R. Technology is used to control air volume and velocity at strategic points on the intake tube, that in conjunction with our newest design process, Air Fusion, allows us to make the possible gains we do from newer more advanced vehicles without getting CEL’s. The factory tends to run their vehicles on the richer side of the scale, which robs power and decreases fuel economy. Using M.R. Technology and Air Fusion we work in conjunction with the factory ECU and tune for our own ideal fuel curve. 6b. EVOSOUL : To take the last question one step further, The hallmark feature of your past intakes is that you will increase your fuel economy. Will your MR technology impact that fuel efficiency gain? Either under aggressive or cruising conditions.
Individual driving habits will have a significant effect on fuel efficiency. Most consumers purchase Injen products for increased horsepower and torque. However, many of our consumers report enjoying an increase in miles per gallon. Actual results will vary depending on your vehicle, your driving habits and applied loads on the engine. Less restrictive intakes such as an Injen air intake can provide more efficient combustion. But if you are like most performance enthusiasts and take advantage of the additional horsepower by driving harder, you will not see much of an increase in MPG, if any at all. 7. EVOSOUL: When dealing with Cold Air Intakes, one of the top questions is…. “Are Cold Air Intakes safe” “ I hear stories of Hydrolock everywhere, what is it, and will it happen to me?”
Hydrolock occurs when a motor ingests an absorbent amount of water, then when the piston in a motor goes up in it’s compression stage and because water isn’t very compressible, something tends to bend or break. Under normal driving conditions this is usually not a problem however, in harsh rains or flooding if the filter becomes submerged in water the engine may ingest water. If possible, it is highly recommend avoiding deep puddles or flooded conditions. We design most of our cold air intake to sit inside the fender and filters are placed 12′-14′ above ground. So for a person to hydrolock their motor they would’ve had to try. You may significantly reduce the risk hydrolock by purchasing Injen Technology is Hydro-Shield pre-filter. Hydro-Shields are manufactured with a hydrophobic process creating shield against water. The Hydro-Shields also shield against debris as small as .005′ increasing the length of time your filter performs at maximum horsepower (Please note that this item is water repellent, not water proof).
8. EVOSOUL: Its very common to hear different things from Dealerships, some say it will void your warranty, others are completely fine with it. Which is it? are INJEN intakes warranty compliant
The Magnusson-Moss Warranty - Federal Trade Commission Improvement Act of 1975 protects consumers from such fraudulent activity by new car dealers. Under this Act, aftermarket equipment that improves performance does not void a vehicle manufacturer’s original warranty, unless the warranty clearly states the addition of aftermarket equipment automatically voids your vehicle’s warranty or if it can be proven that the aftermarket device is the direct cause of the failure. The easiest way to check this is to look in your owner’s manual under, “what is not covered”. Under the Magnusson-Moss Act a dealer must prove in writing, not just vocalize, that the aftermarket equipment in question directly caused the need for repairs before they can deny warranty coverage. If they cannot prove such claims-or offer an explanation- it is your legal right to demand compliance with the warranty. The Federal Trade Commission (202.326.3128) administers the Magnusson-Moss Act and monitors compliance with warranty law. 9. EVOSOUL: The majority of INJEN fans for the lancer had their hearts broken when it was announced that the INJEN Cat back exhaust system was PZEV only, are there any plans to expand this to the FED spec?
We were aware that the Injen Cat back system only fit the Cali PZEV vehicles and we have made all necessary changes to accommodate all emission vehicles. The part number to cover all vehicles is SES1835TT-1~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thank you INJEN, for continuing to tighten your game!
Here is a sneak peek at the 2.4L version coming down the pipe

AEMs Interview
Lancer Specific Questions
Answered by AEM : Engineering Division.
1. EVOSOUL: Your Intake seems to produce a solid 5.3 HP and 5.3 TQ gain, was this achieved on a Cali PZEV Spec Lancer? If so what is the expected gain on a FED Spec Lancer?
The development of this intake was done with a Cali PZEV Spec vehicle. Since the FED Spec has fewer cats then the PZEV Spec model, we would expect a increased rate of exhaust flow relative to the PZEV Spec. That would translate to a potential increase in volumetric flow on the intake side. The factory ECU setting would see the larger volume of air and compensate within the fuel limits to maintain proper air fuel ratios. Overall, we would expect to see increased horsepower and torque relative to the PZEV Spec. 2. EVOSOUL: What was the focus of your 2008+ Lancer 2.0L Intake? Looking at your Dyno Performance sheet, it seems that Peak Horsepower wasn’t at the top of your agenda.
The focus of the 2008+ Lancer 2.0L Intake was usable horsepower and torque. We realized that this version of the Lancer was relatively heavy compared to it’s previous generation, and tuning the intake to gain at the higher region of the powerband didn’t seem practical. Instead, we focused on the peak torque regions of the powerband. The net effect would allow end users to feel the gains through each gear based on typical shift patterns.
3. EVOSOUL: Since your release of your COLD AIR INTAKE, Mitsubishi has now released a 2.4L engine variant. Do you believe the Intake sold for the 2.0L will suffice or would you consider making another intake for the 2.4L exclusively?
Every intake is tuned differently. We do not believe in selling an intake for a different application just because it fits. The 2.4L engine application would be of interest to us, but we cannot say exactly when we will release it. Keep posted on our website for updates. 4. EVOSOUL: Your industry rival “INJEN” was out early with an intake featuring their MR Technology, what sets your intake apparent from theirs?
I am not too familiar with Injen’s MR Technology. However, our intakes are always tuned for the best calibration as possible. AEM takes into account of all variables, not just horsepower and torque. We believe in providing a high quality product that performs at a reasonable price. Our reputation is built on this and acknowledged by consumers around the world. 5. EVOSOUL: While INJEN has recently pushed their MR technology, you have been using your V2 Intake with great success on other cars. Will we be seeing a V2 Version in the near future?
The V2 series indeed was a great success. At this time, we do not see any plans of a V2 Version for the Lancer application. 6. EVOSOUL: Many Lancer fans were broken hearted to hear that the AEM intake was for the 5 Speed manual only. Are there any plans for a CVT version in the near future?
At this time, the CVT version is undecided. Stay posted. 7. EVOSOUL: Where there any difficulties or hurdles to overcome for this Lancer project?
There were a few difficulties in the Lancer project, but nothing severe. It was simply a matter of optimizing space and coming up with innovate uses for materials to achieve our design objectives. 8. EVOSOUL: Besides Intakes are there any other projects in the works for the 2008+ Lancer?
At this time, other projects for the Lancer are potentially in the pipeline. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thank you AEM for taking the time to answer our questions.

I have a 2009 lancer gts with the cvt. transmission and there is about 37000 km( 17000 mi) on the car. In the last while i have experienced a couple close calls making turns or just trying to accelerate. I'll be in manual or auto mode starting to accelerate and there's no power, the car will not pick up speed. I'll have my foot mashed to the floor and nothing, it feels like trying to start in 5th gear. It doesn't help changing back to auto or up/down shifting. After a few seconds the power comes back and it's fine. The CEL doesn't turn on and there are no problems accelerating after. I've noticed it happens most often after driving then turning the car off, coming back like 30 min later and driving again.
I have talked to the dealership and there mechanic took the car for a drive, No surprise the problem didn't happen to him. His only suggestion for the problem is that I'm up shifting to far by accident. The guy told me that the car would register an error code and with no error code there's nothing he can do.
So, I'm wondering if anyone else has had similar problems, what causes this and what the fix is.

There is no specific intake model for the 08 or 09 Lancer, but the universal kits should do it. Here is the link to the site:
http://www.apexi-usa.com/search_detail.asp...p;isUniversal=1I've read many times about that intake and it is supposedly one of the best filtering and flowing intakes there is. And it is not an oiled filter so no issues with the MAF and overoiling. But I don't know how the ECU will react to it or even which size would fit. Has anyone though about trying it?

Hey guys.
So I felt like spending some money that I don't have today (gotta love credit cards, hehe).
I went out and bought the AEM CAI for my '08 GTS.
Got it for $389.99 Canadian (plus tax) at JB's Power Center - NorthSide (for you peoples from Edmonton).
I could have gotten it for around 345 plus tax (from AFI Performance), or 369 plus tax (from MOPAC), but I'd have to wait a couple weeks to get it, so just decided to be spontaneous and bought from a place that had them in stock.
Looking over the manual the installation is probably going to take a while, it involves cutting and extending the MAF wires.
I will be putting it on hopefully later tonight or tomorrow. I HOPE I have time.
I'm not going to write a step-by-step how to on this because the instruction sheets are as good as it's gonna get (or so I assume, if I run into issues then I'll document them).
Some extra info:
It is a dry filter (washable).
Tube from throttle body is aluminum (mine is powder coated, looks like metallic gunmetal).
The remainder of the piping is some sort of plastic material (they call it Rotomold, dunno what that means hehe - I guess some sort of process of preparing the plastic to create some kind of compound or something).
I'll throw some diameters at ya later, I'll measure it when I'm installing everything.
Came with 2 small black decals (nice!).
The AEM sticker that was on the tube was all wrecked and peeling off so I took it off... Now my tube doesn't say AEM anymore... OH WELL...
Will be booking a dyno shortly after I install the intake.
So check back for updates (I really hope to have it on by tonight).
No CEL *crosses fingers*

Hey!, new to the forum. Baught my second lancer yesterday lol.
Was just wanting some quick input on which type of intake i should go. I know the diff between SR and CA, but havent heard any opinions on which to do for the 09. They both make pretty sounds of course. But im looking more towards practicallity than racing considering all the crazy laws coming out latly. I read up alot on the RRM Short ram for the car, sounds interesting. Not sure what the HP gain is on them tho. But im wondering if throwing in the cold air in would be worth it. Has anyone went threw a big puddle latly? lol.

Amazon has the SP1835A polished cold air intake for us$250.51. Free shipping too.
The item page lists a seller other than Amazon. You have to use the add to cart button for Amazon under "More Buying Choices" on the right hand side of the screen.
It's out of stock now and they don't say when more are coming in.

Hi there guys, as i know theres two versions of the Greddy Ti-C Exhaust.
The vendor I am getting it from simply doesnt know which version it is.
Is there any way to tell (part number..?) which version it is?
Also I tried emailing Greddy but the email wouldnt get through each time, as they would send a reply saying "Quota Exceeded" and a bunch of random stuff, so would htere be any other way getting to them?
Any help would be great, thanks for looking!

I am in process of saving up some cash for a replacement intake, either the K&N SRI or the Injen CAI. I have been reading around in other forums and I found that someone was able to resolve the SES issue with their Fujita SRI by taking out the o-ring on the MAF sensor before installing the MAF sensor in the Fujita SRI and that poster said that the SES light issue went away and hasn't been back ever since.
Since I was installing my replacement Pulse Plugs, I decided to try removing the o-ring on the MAF sensor before installing the MAF in my Fujita SRI v2 as recommended by that person to see if it made a difference.
I have driven about 300 miles on my car and I have not seen the SES light at all! I think this is something for all Fujita SRI owners to try before tossing your Fujita SRI in the trash heap to see if removing the o-ring on the MAF sensor does indeed resolve this issue for you.
But as I have said, I have gone about 300 miles (Freeway and City) without getting the SES light with my Fujita SRI installed.

Here is the link....tab down to the 2008 Lancer & it will pull up a pic. (shown below) & the specs. 4" tip....
$455
Worth it??? Only time will tell. I'm still in the market for something....but well see what I end up getting. Wish they would have posted a better pic like form the backside...or from the passenger side angled to get a better look at it. Still I kinda like it.

So here it is:
Spring is approaching and I'm getting ready to get my first performance MOD an Injen Cold air intake. I'm from Calgary and just called two of the only dealerships in town to find out there prices.
Platinum Mitsubishi told me the install price is $450. The person I spoke to was unsure of what the price of the CAI was on its own but guessed about $375....
Hyatt Mitsubishi who I might add was very unfriendly told me that the CAI costs 340 plus gst. When I asked about install they told me 2 hours which is about $140.
The guy at platinum didn't really seem to know what the Injen CAI hydro shield was. He seemed to be convinced it was only for dust and not water. But according to
SpeedCorp website it's for water and dust and what not.
Anyhow the real question is should I install the cold air intake myself using the alternate method of removing the wheelwell cover instead of getting a dealer to install it. Installing it myself would be a great experience. In addition it would also be easier to clean/change the air filter down the road.
So should I do it myself?
Do you know if there is anything that I could completely mess up doing myself?
The last thing I would like to do is damage my car and void the warranty.

Hey guys, i was just wondering if anyone would know of a good place where i can get a Greddy Ti-C version 2 exhaust for the lancer for a decent price around in toronto. Specifically around richmond hill and markham area if you know of any place. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also im totally new to this, so if i wanted to put this on myself,(which i believe would not be a great idea, dont want to mess up car) but is it manageable for a newbie too? I saw some videos online and it didnt seem extremely hard, but if anyone can offer advice, it'd be very helpful.

I got a 2 ?, 1st. I'm working at doing a tune up on my car and whats the best place to get tune up parts like, Spark Plug,Wire Sets, so on and so on. 2nd. I know about this "Cars bound for California, New York and other states with similar emissions standards make do with a little less: 143 hp and 143 lb. ft" and I live in NY and sadly I have the peza or what ever that spec call. A guy I work with is a car guy, he know alot about cars. But I told him about the lose HP. He said some thing about it being in the engine that can be taking out or fix, but I'm like yeah right. I'm not doing any thing to my engine first off. But with the INJEN Cold Air Intake I have in my car I'm might be up to 150HP or less don't really know. But is there a way to get back that lose HP that California and NY spec cars or no.

HKS Hi-Power Exhaust:
I’ve had this installed for just over 3 days now and am really pleased with it. My review of it:
Install:
Simple to install, took about ½ hour to take the stock exhaust off and bolt the HKS up.
Only uses 1 hanger, near the tip part, the rest is bolted on. Doesn’t rattle or move a bit.
Sound:
I was amazed by the low deep tone that it gives off, sounds great. Definitely a japan/import sound, but not ricer at all, not even close. The sound reminds me of the sound the EVO had in 2 fast 2 furious. At idle it has a nice little grumble. At low rpms, (under 4000), it has a deep powerful rumble and above 4000 it sounds like a race car, but never a crackling or high pitched sound, always deep and powerful. At highway speeds, in fifth gear, you can barely hear it. No drone at all. When you jump on the gas, it comes alive and makes the car sound more powerful than it really is, but never gets too loud like the Honda’s you can hear from 2 miles away.
Performance:
I have noticed a slight performance gain, the car is definitely breathing better and when the mivec kicks in there seems to be an extra little boost. Since the dyno runs cost $100 each time, I’ll wait until I get my intake before I do another dyno, but I imagine I’m getting a 3-5 hp gain from the exhaust.
Looks:
I like the way it looks. I think the burnt tip and the offset resonator is cool, but I can understand how others may not like it. I’m pleased with it.

Hey just was on there site and came across this.http://www.roadracemotorsports.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_6_10&products_id=425
I would like to hear from some one who has it or plans on getting it. It looks promising with 8hp to the wheels with 91 octane. Not really sure why they put that dyno sheet up when it says that it is a all wheel drive car, guess i don't trust it. I would like to get it but hear what everyone else thinks.

Sorry guys this may have been asked before, but whenever i search for Lancer GT, I ALWAYS get topics about GTS lancers.
Anyways, i want to know if there are any products made for the 2.0L 5 speed manual 09 Lancer GT.
I've looked but so far i think its inconclusive. This part: RD1830BLK (ingen CAI) looks like its for my car, but the years in the description confuse me.
Can someone please answer my question, im thinking about upgrading me car, but i dont know if there is any point!
Thanks,
marcus

I have the hks hi-power exhaust (axle back) but its just been too cold to install it yet, so I decided to take a look under the car and see whats going on. Looks real simple to install, but my question is, what is all the stuff I see on the stock exhaust in front of the axle. I see the cat towards the front, then two more pieces that i'm not sure what they are. Is there a resonator and another cat towards the back? Can someone explain what I'm looking at on the stock exhaust in front of the axle?
Thanks.

So I just ordered my Borla muffler and tip, and I'm stoked. I've always loved the unique tone of Borla exhausts. I'm having my local shop build me up the rest of the piping. Ill post pics and hopefully video and sound clips when I get it done.

So recently i purchased a used Greddy ti-c V1 exhaust for 175.00.
The exhaust came with no hardware at all and no V2 bracket.
To replace the flange bolts and nuts i used 3/8 nuts , bolts, washer and locking washer.
these worked no problem
After installing the exhaust I noticed that it was the same height as the people whos bumpers
melted so I immediately took a trip down to home depot with a friend. We decided to make a fix
just like Greddy.
We found a " #304 U- Bolt 1/2" pipe zinc plated" piece of hardware shown below

The U bolt on the left is what I am talking a bout, it comes with the silver "bracket" with two
holes, as you can see Its already been mounted onto the last hangar. To do this it has to be drilled
out to fit the hardware you decide to use. I used 4/16"( i believe it was 4/16") X 2" nut bolt and washer for the hangar and the stock bolt to mount it to the frame.
basically its greddys fix but only cost about 1.68 and you dont have to wait for them to send it to you.
to put it on simply place the flat bracket on the "backside" of the frame where it has the nut welded "where its
threaded to hold the last hangar in place above the exhaust exit in the bumper", screw the stock nut in place and tighten.
Now here is where you can adjust the hangar, put it on the exhaust and adjust as necessary, now when it is where you wnat it , tigthen the 4/16" bolt or which ever bolt you get, that is holding the hangar to the bracket.

your exhaust should look like this

Correct me if I am wrong but the exhaust now hangs correctly in order to avoid melting.

Just wanted to give everyone an update on my testing with the Pulstar Plugs.
I bought the Pulstar Plugs for my 08 Lancer GTS back in April and they have worked quite well. I noticed a slight increase in get up and go and I noticed at least about a 10-15% increase in fuel economy. Everything has been going well. For the most part my driving is conservative however I do like to drive spiritly as well.
However, recently in the past 1-2 months when the weather here in Utah has been getting cooler I've noticed my car idling funny. Basically, it will be at 750-1000 RPM and then it would go to 1000-1100 RPM. Didn't think too much about other than I thought it was kinda odd, however the slight increase in RPM was not enough to be too concerned about IMO.
Anyways, we had our real snowstorm of the season today and driving home from work in 22-31 Degree F weather I noticed that my RPMs were going from about 800 and jumping up to 1500-2000 RPM. I was like WTF! I got home and took out my Pulse Plugs and the plug in cylinder 2 had an orange ring about 1-2 mm up the side from where the ceramic piece connects to the metal piece. Thought it was kinda odd. On top of that, the ceramic piece felt slightly loose. I wiggled it a little bit to verify that it was indeed loose. It was, because it then came apart in my hands!

Further inspection found that the ceramic and internals of the plug had fractured. Further inspection of the plugs found that 2 other plugs also had the odd orange ring that I noticed on the one that fractured, but not as large as the one that fractured.
Luckily I still have the OEM plugs, so I replaced the Pulstar Plugs with the stock plugs.
Just a brief note. I have had the Pulse Plugs installed since April with about 6500 miles on them.
I will post pics later.

So I was browsing the forums lately and getting ideas on increasing the power output of our engines. One of the most popular upgrades seem to be the cold air intake. Having this information, I proceeded to browse AEM, K&N, etc.. to check out their selection. I knew it wasn't cheap to begin with (friends in Markham spend tens of thousands on their cars =S) but didn't expect to fork over $200 for a simple tube and filter. So this got me thinking, what if I made my own cold air intake?
Now, I'm not the brightest when it comes to the technical stuff (hence is why I am here to bounce ideas

) but what would be the best placement of the intake in our engines? I noticed that there aren't many bends to begin with in the stock intake, but the mouth is narrow and wide, would rather prefer a cylinder to increase efficiency and air flow. I was thinking of relocating the mouth in behind the engine or near the grille. The downside to behind the engine is that I'm afraid that it will suck in hot air from the engine instead of cooler air (which would defeat the purpose but airflow would be better

). The downside to the grille is that I'm afraid that too much water might hit the exposed filter. I don't think it's possible to fashion a hydroshield suitable for my needs

.
My vehicle is completely stock at the moment.
Any ideas/suggestions/criticism from the community? Thanks!
Regards.

http://thmotorsports.com/vibrant/vibrant_s...0/i-163661.aspxI haven't come across anyone with this exact one.....so I thought that I would post it here. There is another guy on here with a Vibrant muffler that looks different, but sounds pretty mellow & sweet. If this one sounds like it, then I might have found a winner.
But then again....IDK.......I would have to research it more & see what kind of warranty if any that comes with it.
O.K....found their site & it says that they come with a 5 year warranty.

thought you guys might like to know, Vibrant have just released their new Street Power catback exhaust system for the 08-09 Lancer. So anyone looking for another alternative to the magnaflow exhaust, this is it. No dyno results yet, but expect them to be similar to the magnaflow catback
There are no pics as of yet but once vibrant sends me some I'll upload them. {thumbup}

So as I have been searching throughout the forums, the latest rave seems to be about this Sprint Booster that quickens the reaction from the pedal to the computer to the engine. Their site claims that it lessens the reaction time by nearly half a second, resulting in much better pedal to motor response. Does anyone have it??? Anyone have any experience with this? I've searched the forum, but nothing has come up. Would like to hear some feedback before I drop 300 bones on it...

Alright guys, need some help. I want the Tsudo exhaust but I also want the Borla #40652. What would be more respectable, the 4 inch coffee can or a nice deep tone? I have a feeling I already know the answer..just would like some input from fellow lancer owners!

So I've heard some good things about the flash. But I don't wanna send my ECU away, plus I heard that you'd have to break off the bolts to get it out.
Is it worth it to drive down to Ohio? I live in Toronto btw...
ALSO, while I'm at it, anyone in Toronto with the Eibach Pro-kit installed? If so, where'd you pick it up from?
Thanks

Its not really performance, but my fans have been making so weird noises. I live in Chicago and its pretty cold so I'm hoping thats the only reason it does it. Oh I should probably add that it only does it when I first start it for the day and goes away after it warms up so maybe that is it. I'm just looking to see if anyone else has this problem or if it is something I should worry about? Any help you guys give will be appreciated.

has this happened to any1? like the battery just died out COMPLETELY and after a jump its back to normal..
its happened twice to me already and i figured its weird because it is a new battery and after the first time i brought it to the shop and they said nothing was wrong
the first time was scary cuz all i heard was clicking sounds.. and whenever i would try to start the car.. the screen would go haywire and flip out and keep clicking louder.. and then the second time was just nothing.. wouldnt start or click like the battery was completely dead..
both times after i got a jump it started working perfectly.. the 2 events were like 2 months apart i believe

If you install an exhaust on a 2008 2.0l with a cvt and get say 5 more hp, then install that same exhaust on a 2009 manual, would you expect to get the same gain in hps or would you potentially get more gain because your starting with a bigger displacement with 16 more hp to begin with. Just wondering if an 08 dyno result would be indicative of what an 09 would get or would the 09 potentially get more of a gain. Anyone know? Thoughts?

I figured this should go in the performance forum because I'm talking about how the car... well, performs.
My CVT has always acted up since it's first winter experience. When driving in D, the car refuses to upshift... so, for example, the RPM gauge will stay at 2000 RPM, but I'll barely be doing 30 MPH. If I swap over to sport mode, I can upshift as far as 6th gear, but my RPM gauge will stay at 2000 RPM. Simply put...
4th Gear, 30 MPH, 2000 RPM
5th Gear, 30 MPH, 2000 RPM
6th Gear, 30 MPH, 2000 RPM
If I punch it while in 6th, it'll stay at 2000 RPM until I hit about 45 MPH, then it will drop a little before rising again. The reason why I included cold weather in the topic is because... well, it only happens when it's cold outside. This problem is non-existant in warmer weather. I've also noticed that the problem is less frequent after the car has been driven for about 15 minutes. It's about 20°F during the morning in Chicago, but I let the car warm up for about 5 minutes before I go (idle RPM on start is about 1500, I let it get down to about 1000 before leaving).
It's really irritating... because my car is running at a higher than necessary RPM (I usually city drive at about 1250-1300 RPM), I'm burning through more gas than I need. I'm averaging about 17 MPG right now, when I usually get 22.
Anybody else have issues with their CVT in the cold weather... or is it just me?
