Whats up fellas! I'm happy to join the club. Just turned in my 1990 Lexus LS400 (cash for clunkers) and got a Lancer ES. I put my Enkei rims on there and ordered a spoiler. Its a great car and I'm lovin the handling. It was pretty difficult to go from the 4.0 Liter 290 HP V8 in the Lexus to the little I-4 in the Lancer, but in the end it was the best decision to get this car.
I've been reading on here and it doesn't seem like there is much I can do to really get this sucker flyin'. So I'm thinking I'll just go with the Cat Back Exhaust and the Cold Air Intake. (Brands? Advice?) Will this do anything for the car's performance at all? I also plan to get a clear bra to prevent chips and a window tint.
So far, I'm pretty happy with the car. It's no 09 Lexus thats for sure, but much more reliable than the old LS400. I plan to drive it for about a year and hopefully sell it for a good price and look into getting something a little faster. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I'm new to the forum here. Just bought a Rotor Glow Metallic 2009 Lancer GTS w/ CVT, nav, rockford fosgate, sunroof, touring package, etc. etc. I just had a couple questions about exhaust and web-sites. For exhaust, I'm coming from a 2005 C6 Corvette with B&B Bullet exhaust (they were loud), so I want something that I can hear, something that is more throatier than high pitched whine. I've heard a lot of Lancers and STI's and what not that have a very deep throated sound and I've liked them quite a bit. I've also heard the same vehicles with the high pitched whiney exhaust systems and I honestly can't stand those. So can you all make some suggestions? It seems that there's a lot of options but it's always nice to be able to narrow these things down. Next, what are some reputable web-sites for Lancer parts? Again, it seems like there is a lot of options but I'm wondering what are some of your favorites?

I have a manual 2.4l and it's horrible how hard it is to accelerate at low rpm..... especially while shifting from 1st to 2nd....
I have to go down in 3rd gear at 60 mph to have decent accleration....

is it really true that the rrm sri causes idling issues? I read about someone who had an issue, but it was because he put on a K&N filter over his RRM.
I wanted to get an RRM intake, but is there anything that i should know before i get it? I searched around the forums, but I am not at peace. THanks for the help!

Ok guys watsup, recently bought a Lancer 09 ES Sport, really stylish car love it, got the gray paintjob. Basically have a few questions, first off with intake, which is the best for my 2.0L engine, i know it will be based off personal opinion for some but Im new to this so all the help is greatly appreciated.
Another question is which is the best exhaust for my car i like loud and don't mind it.
Also in terms on tinting my windows it's my 1st car so i've never done it before. Opinion wise for the gray Lancer that I have what is the best matching shade to get for my windows, I will tint all my windows except maybe the front windshileld but will tint the front rear one's as well. I live in NJ well aware of the law but have several PBA's lol. So what would be the best tint % for my color.
I was also looking to venture off into LED's for the interior and possibly the exterior. In terms of putting LED's in the interior since im new to cars, how would i go about getting that done. Where should I buy from whats good LED's to buy I want LED's to match the inside lights of the car in this case orange. Where would I go about buying the parts i would need to get that done.
Also for the lights I was thinking of HID's, what HID's would I need. I know most of these questions probably are already answered but im new and would enjoy the personal opinions to better make my choice. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
I am also looking for rims that will probably be saved for last. But which rims are the biggest I can do but still manageable and looking sexy.
THANKS FOR ANY HELP GREATLY APPRECIATED IF YOU GUYS CAN ESTIMATE HOW MUCH EACH THING WOULD RUN ME TO GET DONE IT MEAN ALOT ALSO WHERE CAN/SHOULD I BUY ALL THE PARTS FROM AND CAN YOU DIRECT ME WITH THE SPECIFIC MODEL I SHOULD BE BUYING.THANKS IN ADVANCE

I have been looking at prices for CAIs and SRIs, and they seem pretty expensive for a bunch of pipes put together. I was wondering how much the average cost to build my own short ram intake was. Would I need to add any sensors or such to the piping? I am thinking about just getting the parts from my nearest Autozone/Murray's. Not really expecting any hp gain, just for better sound and efficiency.

I really need to know which exhaust to get that wont sound like a fart can or a piece of sh*t.. to be honest. A place called axiom where i get most of my stuff said i should go with the ti-c, but i want to know the specs on it and how it really does sound in person. and what really is the diff between the ti-c and the spectrum. both are axel back and the spectrum is cheaper... so if anyone could help me and give an opionion on which and what to get that would be awesome!!!

I've been borwsing CAI and I have a question;
Why does Injen says his intake will add 11 hp while K&N talk about 6hp?
Both CAI seems the same. Anyone knows?
For those who installed a CAI, do you really notice the added power?
Thanks.

i am thinking about the 08 lancer es and have noticed some things and i havent found this anser yet...
i filled up the tank took a trip to San Diego and when i left the gas guage said 330 to fill up. while driving it jumped by 10 until reading 370. i was mostly on cruise control. on the way home i was at about half and it still said 330 to fill up? has this happened to anyone?
and just to make sure that when you turn the key the car does click? i thought that was a lil odd but i read that was normal.
and no aux jack? big disappointment. but i love the acceleration

Hey Everyone,
Saw this video on Youtube....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPrDcUeHNYwThis GReddy sounds beautiful. And I believe this is on a 2.0L. It should sound even better on my 2.4L.

Can anyone with a Magnaflow watch this video and compare it for me? I can't find a good video of people actually driving with a Magnaflow exhaust, just people revving the engine in neutral.
Thanks so much, Everyone!

Im looking into getting this for my ride but Im curious as to if it is really worth the money. I dont mind paying $140 for it but I really dont want to pay for something that isnt worth $140. If you have the pulley please voice your opinion on if you think it was worth the money. I did search for it and found some threads but nothing definative. a short list of pros and cons would be nice if possible.
Thanks

I know there is lots of talk and reviews on these two but im wondering which to get first. I know there sri is loud and add a few HP not much on the GTS but makes its growl.
I dont want one that sounds like i have a fart can under the hood, something with a little growl but nothing major is what i would like some input on.
But then Id like to get a pulley, which doesnt give any HP but frees some up from other things from what i read. unless i misunderstood. Which im hoping someone could share their info, or good links so i can go read it my self. i cant find anything under google really cause im not sure what to do a search for.
I just learned today what a cai and sri are, after reading here for about a year lol.
Im a geek not a car wiz so i know my car has 4 wheels and 4 doors.
I want an exhaust, (on the way), SRI (live in newfoundland, winters here are cold and lots of slush for a CAI), and a pulley (if i read about it correctly)
Just want to add a bit more power with a few small changes.
thanks all.

I have a 09 Lancer GTS CVT (dont flame me) and I already have an Injen CAI on it. Now im looking to get a new exhaust and an axle back really doesn't give that much air relief that a Cat back does due to the fact that the opening from the header would still be factory size. Does anyone know if any cat backs have been released yet because I can't seem to find one?

After I was schooled on trannys by some fellow members, I was wondering how much power is it possible to squeeze out of our engines. Im hoping to make it into the low 15's and if possible even the high 14's(even if its only 14.90 i dont care as long as i can say i hit 14) Does anyone think that is possible without a turbo kit or nitrous(im not trying to pop a piston or fry any rings)? and if anyone has ran their car on a strip what were you times, did you run a Manual or Automatic and what mods did u have on the car at the time of the run?

In my quest to find the perfect intake for my needs, I did a lot of research. I decided on a SRI, that also utilizes the stock fresh air inlet, for two reasons. One, because I think it will give me better throttle response off the line/from a stand still due to the warmer air under the hood, and two, because once you get going the fresh/colder outside air blows thru the stock inlet and blows fresh/colder air onto the filter, giving you the gains in the higher rpm range.
But when trying to pick one out, what I found was that all the current intakes on the market by the major manufactures, except for RRM, will not work correctly with the 2.4L engine. The current intakes out there are all specifically designed for the 2.0L engine which does not need as much air as the 2.4L, and has a different mass air sensor.
I contacted AEM, K&N, RRM, Injen, and Fujita. I ended up speaking with aem and k&n, on the phone and rrm thru email. Injen and fujita did not return emails and I did not contact them via phone. Here’s what I got straight from the manufactures mouth:
AEM: They said, their current CAI will not work with the 2.4L engine, it will not provide enough air and the mass air sensor on the 2.4L would have fits. They also said they weren’t even sure if it would bolt up correctly. I asked if they had plans to make a CAI for the 2.4L and they said as of right now there are no plans.
K&N: They said their current SRI will bolt up, but they were not sure that it would provide enough air which would result in the engine running lean. They also said they did not test their SRI with the 2.4L because it was made for the 2.0L, so didn't know if you'd gain hp's or possibly lose power. They also said if you did buy one and use it on the 2.4L that they would not honor their million mile warranty. I asked about plans for a 2.4L version and they said they didn’t know of any plans right now.
RRM: They said they tested several different SRI designs and the one they offer on their website is specifically made for the 2.4L. They also said anything made for the 2.0L would starve the 2.4L engine of air. I asked about a dyno for their 2.4L intake but they did not answer that question in the email.
Injen and Fujita: I got no response from either company. I emailed them both twice and got no response.
Just some info for anyone looking for an intake for the 2.4L engine.

So I am having trouble putting my air filter in correctly. THe car is making really loud noises at around 3.5 RPM. I noticed at the bottom of the filter box, there are little slits where you connect the two parts together. Sadly, Im having a diffiicult time connecting it. Any tips? I lost a lot of MPG doing this too. I used to get 22mpg city but im getting 17 now. PLease help.

I need advice on what GOOD performance parts are out there, i already have the front sway bar, and would love to stiffen the suspension even more so. I just want to unlock the cars full potential. Im not concerned with upgrading my stereo and all that bullshit, thats not important to me. so please if you can point me in the direction of some all around good upgrades for the 2008+ Lancer ES

I just got my lancer last week, and I've been looking through the forums here trying to decide what I wanna mod on it. I'm looking for relatively simple things; I'm a tech nerd, not a mechanic.
It's looking like road race motorsports seems to have quite a few good comments in here, and a short ram intake seems like a pretty easy item to add, so I was thinking of adding theirs. Some of the topics seemed like they might be getting kinda dated now though, so maybe they aren't the best any more. An SRI seems like a better choice for me than a CAI, just because it seems like CAIs usualy take a little more modding on the car and/or know-how, as well as being set much lower than the stock intake, and living in michigan, it seems like a low intake could be bad for a daily driver; I've already blown the turbo and bent some rods in a beetle from sucking up water.
I was also wondering if an axle-back exhaust would accomplish much. I'm looking for mpg/hp gains, not just sounding cool. Again, it seemed like people liked RRM, and I saw they have a bolt on axle-back exhaust that looked pretty straight forward.
Any other fairly easy/affordable/non-warranty voiding mods that would be worth looking at?
Anyway, just kinda throwing the question out there to see if anyone has any useful comments.
Thanks
*EDIT* said raceready motorsports, meant road race motorsports

Just got my intake installed. I can tell you nothing but pro's.
Pro's:
Gas milage increase - from 9.0 to 7.0Ave L/100 Kilometers.
Obveusly HP+TQ Gain
Sounds GREAT - At about 2.800rpm and a nice sound around when ur at 4500. Great for when ur a little heavy on the pedal. Like a "Its time to shift sound" lol.
I got the polished. and it looks awsome of course.
Real cold air intake. Located directly in the front bumper, Actually very easy to install. Took about an hour
Cons
The only con i can think of is the maintenence of the filter, and possibility of hydrolocking. I actually custom made a shield that fits inside the innter wheelwell. I guess i basically covered the top half of the rain gutter with a metal sheet, about 7" by 5". Works great, first 3 days i had it it poured rain and i figured it would be the best time to test it out. Works perfect, Wouldent even need a hydro shield AT ALL. But get one anyway. U never know right. Highly recomend a hydroshield for this intake. Considering the open gutter in the wheelwell and direct flow from the front left fog light

I did the usual search but came up with nothing........ I found this for our car:
I am always tryingto find more ways to better my car with a little extra oooomph! Don't know anyone that has it & I have an e-mail out to the company for their Performance Module.
I really wanted to go with WORKS, but the fact that their guy in Ohio is no more.....leaves me with only the option of sending in my computer which I don't want to do.
So I wonder if this would really do much for our little car or not. Once I get a reply I will post it on here.
I tried posting the link to what I am talking about & once you clicked on that link it kept coming back with an error.....weird.
Try looking at jetchip.com & look under the 2008 Lancer GTS with the 2.0 & it is the 3rd one down for $350

Hey all!
I just went to a place called "Noyzboyz Performance Exhaust Shop" in Scarborough (Toronto).
I wanted to get a new exhaust for my Lancer that would sound deep and rich, but not be so loud that I bother everyone who isn't in my car.
So, I ended up getting a Magnaflow Axle Back, so I could keep the resonator further up my pipe.
Let me tell you this:
DEEP sound. Sounds like a legit, powerful car, but not too loud!
Yet, very quiet. In fact, when you are not revving, the car is almost silent!
I highly recommend this place for those in Toronto. You just tell them what exactly you want, and they can get you a setup that is right for you.
Oh, and the car doesn't feel any different... I think. If there is a change though, it's definitely not a downgrade. =P
I'll take my car out for some runs to see if anything has changed.
Next on my list: some kind of intake!

Hey. I was just wondering what kind of turbo setups we can come up with. Something a little cheaper. And not pushing past 8psi. And maybe give a bit of learning insight on the whole situation. Adding a turbo cant be bad for the engine unless its setup wrong, or your pushing to much boost correct?
I know there is the RRM bolt on kit out there, but that takes all the fun away of making one ;D

**I also have a RRM timing box id be willing to trade for the air box as well, just post or message me..and we can DEF work something out**
I need the entire setup, the tube that runs from the throttle body to the air box, the plastic air box, as well as the plastic air scoop.
please please please contact me ASAP i will provide any and all info needed/wanted by the seller/trader to make this deal go as smooth as possible.
(also..Mod's..sorry if im posting this in the wrong section!! im really not sure if i am or not, or if im even allowed to post a B/S/T thread on this forum..)

So does anyone know what ours cars should do in the 1/8 mile? Stock 2.4L (manual) times would be what I'm looking for, but any info is appreciated.

When I bought the exhaust I questioned why I did not receive the silencer and I was told that since Arkansas does not have any law where the exhaust has to be kept below a certain decibel they did not send it to me with my order and they wanted me to pay for the silencer separate (even though it was listed on their site as something that came with the exhaust.) I told them never mind and went on about my business. Well here it is a year later and I am tired of how loud that thing is but I do not want to go back to the stock exhaust but I can not find anyone that sells just the silencer. Any suggestions guys?

I just seen today on K&N's website that their SRI is now available for purchase. Part # 69-6544TS. It costs $321.04 plus shipping. I ordered one today to see if it'll help my 09 GTS come to life.

For those of you looking to get an exhaust system for their Lancer & you were considering the Magnaflow Cat-Back Part #16822, then do yourself a favor & check this auction out. The guy does have a 100% rating.
Alrighty then.....my patience has def. paid off. I have been sitting back in the weeds waiting for a deal to come & I have found it!
I already paid for it & it is going to be on it's way very soon.
I was told that he has 2 coming in soon & he has 13 others coming in shortly after that.
Here is what I am talking about:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...T&viewitem=This guy has been awesome. Quick to respond to e-mails & I will let you know how quick I get the item.
Please ask the seller a question as to what his best price is. I would post it on here....but some of the sellers on here would throw a hissy fit & cry LOL! It's alot less than what he is asking on E-Bay....ALOT less.

Hello everyone.
My wait is finally over!
Roughly 590 Canadian dollars (that's with tax) and 2 hours of installation later I finally got the Magnaflow Cat-Back on and running.
So far my thoughts are:
.Sound
It sounds great. Very nice deep tone in the lower RPMs and quiets down in the higher RPMs.
It doesn't whine, and has a rather aggressive and dangerous tone to it - I guess to be expected out of Magnaflow.
It's not super loud but makes enough noise for my taste and sounds very much less resistive than the stock exhaust.
.Performance
Huge difference in the muffler size and weight.
I haven't noticed much gains in power but it certainly is there - I guess the best proof of this would be a dyno or improved 1/4 miles times (coming next spring I will get that done). Overall it does feel nicer and appears as if the car is breathing easier and picking up speed a bit faster.
.Conclusion
Installation was pretty easy. YES it does involve cutting the stock pipe. Everything fits perfectly without much trouble or effort.
It for sure is benefitial to have two sets of hands installing this exhaust. You will need to lift the car off the ground to gain access to hinges and to make the connections. I apologize for the lack of a How To but I was too lazy to take pictures - I just wanted to get the thing on and go drive around.
All in all it sounds great and the tip looks very nice and low profile. I can certainly feel an increased performance but there is nothing magical happening there so I will have to get some number figures to see how much I actually gained from this thing.
I'm very satisfied with the purchase though

Cheers

So I've been debating on purchasing this item and I was unable to locate if there was an already a pre-existing thread for this particular topic. I just wanted to know your thoughts and opinions about them (reliability, performance, price/value, + other and general thoughts in regards), remember I want to know about V2 I dont want to know about V1 unless it is in comparison with V2.
So from what I know from reading around the thread this is what I take it:
- Reliability: There is mixed reviews about RRMs quality of products, people like it, people hate it. And they are still(?) the only ones trying to develop new aftermarket parts for lancers specifically, which of course many of us are thankful for that they are doing.
In regards to V1 does V2 share the same problems or similar problems that V1 has had? One being the filter falling apart?
In terms of just the part alone, from what I hear you cannot really go wrong with SRI's to begin with? Apparently there is a very minimal chance that it will actually harm your car. And as long as it does not harm your car it does not void any kind of warranty (varified with a dealership here in canada for you other canadian drivers). Being that these cars come with a crazy 10 year power train it might come in handy to actually keep it for the 10 years, seeing that these cars are trickling with design flaws here and there (to name a few: paint issues, failed starts, braking).
-Performance: I am going to consider V1 and V2 probably preform the same way as V1, and that there is mixed reviews as to what it actually does for your performance. Some claim it lowers gas mileage while others claim that it increases it. Many also claim you can feel a difference, though I'm still skeptical im not sure if there is any actual dyno proof of there being the "5ish" hp gain yet.
-Price: From what I take a lot of people dislike how the V1 was designed but much prefer V2 for what your paying. That I know if you get your local shop to do it, it would be cheaper, and if you go through the other bigger parts companies they appear to be fairly more expensive.
-Other: Overall? Thumbs up - recommended and I should buy it. Thumbs down - not recommended dont buy it. (please provide sufficient reasoning thx)
I was planning on ordering it this friday unless shown otherwise.

Ok i have the RRM SRI V2 for the 09 CVT and before everyone starts getting angry at a pretty much dumb post let me explain myself. I understand that the more air that comes into the engine burns more fuel. However, holy crap is this getting out of hand. I was not expecting such low gas mileage. Now, of course i decided to check the tire air pressure and fill it up on the recommended levels. Secondly, i changed my driving habits to a more casual way (staying below 60mph) and accelerating slowly. Doing all of these things i saw some difference. However, after a week it still seems to be pretty low. So, is this normal? If it is i can feel a lil better knowing its not my car. Or, is it a problem with my car? Any advice, info or suggestions will be appreciated. Thx in advance.

I was just wondering if you think my magnaflow catback exhaust looks crooked or off center compared to the following people: aftermarket, karanB, rox, sixfeeddeep, tatsujo. After looking at the picture closely it seems like my exhaust tip is positioned more or less the same as everyone else. Depending on the angle you view the exhaust it can look off center. It sits closer to the right side. So what do you think? Should I go and get it adjusted or it just fine the way it is.

Wassup guys. I have some money to spare and was wondering if the RRM Transmission Cooler is worth having. I live in NYC and with the summer approaching rather quickly maybe this mod wouldnt be too bad. Any suggestions or reviews for those who have it would be cool.
