Thought it would be appropriate to post this & have it stuck to the top of the page for everyone to find quickly....since winter is coming very soon!
I know that there is a few posts on who has bought what....& how they like them...
but by posting it here....it's just easier for everyone.
So what did you buy?
Where did you buy them & for how much?
How are they in the snow?
How are they holding up?
How many miles do you have on them?
You know the deal....

I finally had time to goto work on my car & one of the things that I needed to do was to check the spare. I haven't done that in over a year.
It was down to 12psi. That would have sucked if I needed to use it........
Check your spare's presure. Winter will be here before you know it & you'll be S.O.L if it's flat & your in need....

Review: (will be updated as I drive in different conditions)
I've got about 100 miles on the tires now. They are very quiet, probably a little quieter than the stock dunlops. The handling is quick, responsive, and very smooth. Doesn't feel soft at any point in hard cornering. Where you point the tires, they go. I am really impressed by the control and smoothness that I have now, compared to the dunlops. I always felt the dunlops were a bit jumpy and inaccurate. Sure they were responsive, but hard to control and prone to over/understeer. The Eagle GT are the exact opposite. So far I have stayed in full control when pushing them hard. Like I said they are smooth, responsive, and precise.
Dry traction is exceptional. I have pushed them hard and a few times so far and they never felt like they were going to break loose. I took a 40mph turn at 85mph and traction was never an issue. Went around a gentle curve today at about 100mph and they were sticky and stable. They stuck to the road like glue. I have also practiced a few launches from a stand still, simulating a track run or a race. The difference between launches with the GT's compared to the dunlops is like night and day. The GT's win hands down. Not only is the traction superior, but they are also extremely controllable. The dunlops were always prone to rebound and wheel hop, but not the GT's. My launches with the GT's are quicker and more controlled. I haven't had any wheel hop at all so far and have trouble breaking them loose in 2nd year. The dry traction is what I'd expect from a high quality all-season tire.
I'll post how they handle in wet conditions and eventually how they handle in the snow as soon as I drive in those conditions.
The only down side I see so far is that even though the are the same size as the dunlops it looks to me like the sidewall is a little shorter creating what seems like a bigger gap in the wheel well. A nice drop will take care of that. That's next.
Here are some pics:
The dunlops: (with 22,500 miles on them, rotated 3 times)

I am looking for winter tires and rims for my 2009 Lancer GTS. When I went to a dealership to take a look into purchasing some witer rims and tires, on of the guys said that the universal rims used are not as safe as using Original Equipment Mitsubishi steel rims.
Has anyone heard any information to substantiate these claims?
In addition, does anyone know of good places in Toronto to purchase winter rims and tires? Thanks!

Here is the tire that I am going to get next week:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?ti...es&place=34I am going to get 225/45/18
They have a 540 A A rating
50,000 warranty
For $144.00 each
These tires just came out for 2009 so I am expecting quite an improvement over the stock tires & the Pirelli's. These are supposed to be good for the snow as well since I don't run dedicated snow tires......time will tell when it snows in Chicago.....just how good they are.
So does anyone here have these tires already & if so....whatcha think?

Let me know what you thank and give me some ideas.
I recently bought new rims and winter tires, for the season ahead of us and had them put on, that’s all good, they look great and ride great. I drove around for the rest of the day when “SERVICE REQUIRED” along with the tire gauge light on the dash lit up the car.
After heading to the dealership to get things checked out,
It turns out that the factory tires have sensors in the value stems that relay the tire pressure to the car, well new tired and rims therefore no sensors,
Dealership says $600 for 4 stems with the sensors, and that there is no way to tell the car to not worry about the tires.
Has anyone else run into this issue, if so let me know what you did?
Also I was able to find another tread if there is one let me know

I have a 09' GTS in octane blue. I have just recently bought 4 - 215/45R18 Michelin X-Ice II winter tires that I am going to mount on the factory wheels for the winter. So, between now and spring I want to get some summer wheels for the car. I am going to put the factory Dunlops on the summer wheels I get because they only have 800km on them.
So, basically what I am looking for are pics of what people have got on their cars for rims. I specifically would like to see some octane blue cars with aftermarket rims but all colors are definately welcome, that way I can decide on a finish and general spoke pattern.
Any pics you guys can throw my way is much appreciated. ~~THANKS~~

I thought id post up a quick review of my new tires after having driven them for a couple thousand miles.
I did my research and found of all the tires available, most of them were extreme/ultra high performance summer only type tires. Very few higher mileage rated, all season tires out there in the 18" size.
I decided to go with the Falkens because I was able to get the best deal on a set of 4 installed. Plus they seemed to have really good reviews and they were rated for 40,000 Miles. (I only got 22K out of the stock Dumbflops) I got them installed for $600 out the door with 6 months no interest financing.
After having them for over 3K miles I can honestly say they are a vast improvement over the dunlops. Road noise is quieter and I havent noticed any loss in handling characteristics. They have done extremely well in the wet also. The other day I drove down a winding country road in the rain as fast as my wife would tolerate and I never once got them to break traction.
The only downside I have noticed is an ever so slightly sitffer ride. Evidently these tires were rated for heavier loads than the Lancer and have a stiffer sidewall construction. Its not a big difference though and its a worthy sacrifice for less road noise.
Have not driven them in the snow yet but I am planning on getting a set of winter tires on steel rims anyways.
I guess as time goes by we'll see how long they last. I plan on doing regular roatations and routine re-balancing as well to help increase their life. Hope this review was helpful to anyone looking for a nice set of all season tires!

The guys here at the dealership are installing my new Conti's as I type. I read all the reviews on tirerack and noone really has anything bad to say about them. They really seem to be a great tire especially for the money and the free digital camera they are offering right now. I had them shipped from www.td4l.com for $567 total. (225/45/zr18). If the sidewall is a little soft like was reported on here I will add a little air pressure, but i think we will enjoy the nicer ride. I will let you guys know my experience with them. So far they are taking very little weight and run true on the balance machine. I took a little time in between balancing to wash the inside of the wheels. We only got 22K out of the stock dunlops. Thanks for all the input on here in choosing tires. I also think the slightly larger size will fill the wheel well a little better and look good. Oh and they are 2 lbs lighter (each tire) than the stock dunlops so that is a little less unsprung weight.

So if I get this right, coilovers are the whole thing (shock and spring), but with the adjustable ride height feature, and springs are just... well, springs? I am not too familiar with suspension, so I am pretty confused about this topic. Does anyone make a coilover set for the lancer? Cuz I have seen many springs out there

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone else has this issue or a solution. 2008 Lancer ES M/T - When I get on it a little and the tires spin (dry, wet, etc...) there is a violent vibration through the car that I believe is wheel hop. I just want to get a little scratch once in a while without feeling like I'm destroying something. Any ideas?
Thanks.

After 2 inches of snow in some areas in western mass on 16th and 6 accidents on the highway yesterday due to black ice, i went ahead and ordered a winter set for me.
16x7 Sport Edition F7 Silver wheels wrapped in 205/60R-16 General Altimax Arctic. I might plastidip them as soon as they arrive LOL. Not really looking to be putting ugly big tires on my car and have crappy performance in dry weather, but.... safety is first! I will post up some pics once they arrive.

Hey all
I had aftermarket rims on for maybe about 15,000k now during the past season.
The thing is I was so busy I never went for a car wash in about 3 weeks.
So the problem is my rims have a 1 1/4" lip, when I cleaned all the dirt of them I noticed that front rims have many dots on the lip that look exactly as stone chips on paint. Is it possible that rims got stone chipped? But why only front wheels are damaged when my back rims are in perfect shape.
anyone hard of something like that happen or experienced??

2008 Lancer SE (Canadian ES with GTS wing/side skirts), 19,000km now...
Hey guys, wondering if anyone else is get 'creaking' noises when making low speed turns w/ their 2008 lancers... (eg: parking in the underground garage)? Noises are present while turning regardless if the car is in gear/etc... and are definatly coming from the front of the car, but I can't say if its louder to the right or left.... I've taken the car in twice, and they can't seem to find anything wrong with it, and when I pick it up, the noises are still there. The car was 8 months old when it started doing this at about 12,000km... Seems to be worse when there is more weight in the car, and I hear a 'rough' noise, almost like a scraping sound when driving over road or speed bumps that cause the passenger front corner of the car to dip .. (bad shock?)
Anyway, anyone have this/get it sorted out? I've taken it in twice now, and they can't seem to even hear anything wrong with it.
Thanks,

Nothing came up in my search so I figured Id ask away.
Can I buy some 16" steel rims and put some winter tires on and not alter the speedo or odo readings?
My GTS has the 18" alloys, but I dont want to put winter tires on them.
If it is possible, what size wheels and tires do I need to fit and not screw up the speedo/odo?

So...anyone of guys have experience with aftermarket brake pads?
Of course, talking about specific ones to the lancer gts....any recomendations?
I´m new when it comes to buying brake pads that are not OEM, so some input would be cool.
Seems HAWK HPS street pads are great....is it true?
And also links to the best place (cheaper) to buy them.
Do u have to change the rotors if u change the pads? Or just depends on the remaining life of the rotor ?

Ok, was washing the car the other day, when i noticed that both and only front wheels are just about bald but only it seems are on the outside walls on each.
I have all the paperwork for getting the mitsu checkups bla bla bla, and winter rims/tires from i think Jan-May(maybe late Apr).
I checked with a local tire place here a dunlop retailer on the advise of dunlop and they said to bring it in with all proof that i had the rotations done winter tires etc.. (i was in the work van) Im gonna go in on saturday.
Here is where it gets sticky, we had to go in to mitsu on another warranty issue for the back pillar kept coming loose, and got them to check the alignment on the wheels. They said sure, no problem, cause it was $70 to get them done. So i passed for now and just get the check done. My wife calls me after she picks up the car and they said the alignment looks great, no issues at all. Perfect. tire issues then, dunlop warranty here we come.
After this is when i went to the tire place here in town, they also told me to get the wright up from mitsu here when they did the check, so i called the dealer and left a message. No call back. I stopped by after work and they never had anything to give me, why? cause they didnt do the check, they just looked at it by visual inspection on the ramp. This wont do in a warranty case i told them. Oh and it gets better. They pulled out a hard copy of our history checks and looks like they never did the rotation at all on the 2nd visit, which should be included and we paid for but was never done, due to tread wear.
Now im not sure if that may help or hurt my chances with dunlop or maybe go after mitsu perhaps. I dont know.
Can anyone suggest anything? Other then telling me to shut up.

When we got the winter tires off and summer put back on in apr/may, no one mentioned anything about the wear either at mitsu or canadian tire, not sure if that matters or not. since it was only about 2 months ago since i noticed the baldness.

I personally believe gunmetal (actually they look darker than in the picture, it's due to flash) will look amazing on the black lancer.

Would be nice to have something different on mine....
Anyone know if they would fit or not?
What about if I eventually have the car lowered? Would there be rubbing issues?

Ok watsup...worst of the worst happened....got into an accident wit my 2 month old lancer es sport cars just stopped randomly anywayz getting paint job done....but my front lip is messed up and my passenger rims are scratched all over and it seems that something happened to my engine....what I'm thinkin
If you can tell me if it will work....change my front lip to an evo lip or just get my front lip repainted/sanded out....have that repaired....then since my rims are messed up replace stock rims with either the same rims or evo rims or other rims in general depending on price...what size rims can I put on my car...what evo rims can I put on the car...where can I buy the rims from....
Also since I hit something it could've messed up my engine so that could void my warranty but can I replace all those parts make it look like new...go to my dealer have them look at it...have only had the car for 2 months so if anything they'd repair it under manufacturers warrantty....would this idea work?

As you can see from the title, I am quite lost on the wheels. I am selling the stock ES Sport rims with tires and swapping out some new wheels. But I do not know what size to get! I have yet to see a 17" rim on a lancer, which I find odd... So I guess I will be saving up more money for the 18". I have been looking at Rota Grid wheels, and have seen that everyone is using 18" wheels. I read about offset and everything, and I don't know exactly what to get. I do not plan on rolling my fenders, so I basically just need a plug-n-play wheel. So what size should I run without it rubbing on a stock ride height suspension???
And just a little sorta off-topic question... How much would I be able to sell a set of 4 16" ES rims VERY good condition, with stock tires with let's say... 85%-90% tread left?
Any help would be appreciated guys. Thanks!

So, haven’t been on the forums for a while but want to see everyone’s opinion on these tires.
I recently just picked up a set of Blizzaks WS-60 for a set of dedicated winter tires... after being screwed out of availability last year... and I am thinking about my summer only tires.
I was looking at getting a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport 225/40R18, has anyone had these and have a good honest opinion of them. Tirerack.com rates them #1 in their class, which I know not to be persuaded by that, so I want your guys' opinion. I know there has been some good posts on summer only and all-season tires and have made my mind up on it... so now I just need to make the next step happen. I figured if I pick out a good tire now I can watch the prices and see if they drop over winter like the price of my winter tires dropped over summer. If anyone else has a better option for me to lean towards let me know that as well. Thanks.

Has anybody painted their stock GTS calipers if so how hard was it?
I'm thinking of painting mine but not sure if there is any drawback to doing so. I can't afford to spend 2K+ on new brakes all around so I think painting the stock calipers would give it a better look as apposed to the dull metal they are now.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Hi, I'm new to the forums and I was wonering if anyone has got an aftermarket rear sway bar. I've found a few threads on strut bars, tons on wheels and rims but nobody seems to have anything to say bout RSB's. I was also wondering if it even makes any difference on the GTS, since it already has a beefy rsb. thanks in advance!

Hey all, I'm looking for a decent set of lug nuts, what are the brands out there?
I'm looking at skunk2 rite now, but it's expensive, is it reasonable to pay over 100 for a set?

Would it be possible to swap in ES rims and have the TPMS system work?

Okay here is the other wheel choice I came across, I'm getting mixed opinions on them, some say I should keep more with a straight spoke wheel, some say it will look nice on a black lancer. They look almost identical to Evo wheels, but come with a lip which is a about 1 3/4" wide.
They are not real BBS but a ASA knock off, well but who cares as long as they look good.
What do you guys think guys?

After my last service I found wheel locks on all four tires. They are a little rusty and I swear they were not there before they rotated and balanced my tires (7500m service). Am I crazy? They gave me a wheel lock kit when I bought the car but I never used it. Do stock tires have a serial number? I'm worried that they may have switched my tires. I've had my Lancer for 18 months and I'm pretty sure I would have noticed this before now. Thanks
