Hi, anyone willing to send me their de-baged emblems from the Lancer. I'm interested in the 'LANCER' badge and any other that you have and don't need anymore. It would be great if you have the EX and the GLS badges as well but if you dont then its cool!

Surely Im happy to pay for the postage to Melbourne, Australia and if and when you come down under I will promise you a pint smile.gif
thanks heaps!

Anyone have the 2009 sportback?
Did you notice very loud noise when going over 60mph and when the back window are open (only back window).
It seems like air is going through the back and using the place back there to make huge noise.

I entered my Lancer GTS in a local car show this weekend. It's a pretty big one in the area. I was in the foreign modified class. There were all scion tc's and xb's, one nissan altima, and my mitsu lancer.
I took third place. A scion tc took second, and the nissan altima took first.
For my first show with the lancer, I was happy with third.
Favorite parts of my car seemed to be the painted white engine covers and the hks exhaust. People really liked them.
I'm hoping to enter a few more this summer. It was a lot of fun.

Hey guys I havent posted for a while so I felt like I should update. I was having ALOT of problems with my lancer. the steering shook like mad and it wasnt balance, alignment, tires, rims or brakes.... we couldnt figure out the problem. Then while driving on the highway we hit 1 puddle in the road going about 45mph( due to rain) and the whole front end let loose on me and all control was gone and braking was shot. It was a very scary experience to go through especially with my mom in the car. I took it to mitsu dealer and they gave me some jive about me paying them to do a diagnostic on the car. I didnt agree with that cause the car only has 19000 miles on it and is still under factory warranty. I called mitsu direct and they were no help either. That was the last straw... I couldnt take the bs anymore so I made a decision to trade my car today. I went to a local car lot and drove away from my mitsu in a new Audi A6 3.2 Quattro fully loaded. Let me tell you what a difference that car is. I know its 2 totally different classes of cars and its like comparing apples and oranges but having driven them both now, its hard not to compare. GOD I LOVE IT!!!! I will try to get pics posted as soon as I can get them taken. I hope this doesnt affect my membership on mitsu-forums, as I would still like to offer any little advice that I can and share my general car knowledge with everyone.

Here are pics of my new baby. The silver hood in the bottom left is my 96 Eclipse, looking on with jealousy.
I accidentially put this here instead of newbie forum...sorry!

searched the forum but came up empty handed.
It's when the car first starts moving and sounds kind of like plastic scraping on the ground. It only lasts a split second and only does it within like the first 20' or so.
It happened on the 08 ES, and it does it on the 09 Ralliart as well. So i'm sure it must do it on you cars too???
WTF IS it...it's bugging the crap out of me!

I'm trying to find one that fits, and it's hard to guess if any will work. Has anyone found a good one? If not, has anyone else found a better solution? Before now, I've just taken off the tire and loaded it in the back, but I'm planning a move, so the car will be pretty full. It would also be nice to have in the future for camping or other situations where putting it inside the car isn't optimal. Thanks.

Hi everyone. I drive an 03 lancer and a friend of mine got someone they know that drives a new lancer to give him her 08 badge(she had debadged it previously, before he asked). He mounted it on the interior and it looks very nice. I was wondering if anyone has debadged their 08 and didn't mind parting with the badge? I don't know anyone around me that drives a new lancer and figured it was worth a shot at asking on here. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

What would you pay for hp? ex. a K&N typhoon now averages 250-300 and will probably only give you a gain of 5-6 hp. thats about $50.00 a hp. things like that. how high are you willing to go $/hp in your search for more power and speed?

I just bought a Rally Red 2009 Lancer GTS and I'm looking for other Lancer owners to meet up. I live in Sacramento, CA and so far I have only seen one other 08/09 Lancer. It's kind of nice knowing that I own a rare breed out here, but just wondering if any other owners are just in hiding.

So I've done lots of research on the Lancer, and tomorrow there's a 50/50 chance my wife & I walk out of the dealership with a new Lancer. But first, I have a few questions that I was hoping people could answer for me, and I REALLY appreciate you guys' help.
1 - We're looking at a black five speed ES. Base is $16,8xx, minus a $1,500 rebate, minus $500 for customer loyalty for my trade-in, minus $2200 for trade-in, for a total of 12,6xx. Today the salesman called to see what we had thought, and when we played it cool & told him we were still looking at a few other models (Jetta, Sentra, 3), he said he could give $400 more for our trade-in. That lowers the price down to $12,2xx.
Does that count as a "second offer"?
2 - I really like the car, the price & payments seem totally reasonable, and my initial instinct is to take what's offered & haggle over other things. Case in point: I read all about the paint, and I think that if they can comp a pair of mudflaps & protective film before $2000 worth of damage takes place, they should. I'll gladly pay for the added spoiler or anything that is merely asthetic, but I'd think that should throw in mudfla
Is accepting their totally reasonable offer & instead insist on free mudflaps & film (estimated cost of $300-400) to protect the car a good negotiating strategy?
3 - About the paint... all the complaints I've read about seem to have a few things in common: '08, body skirts from the ES Sport or GTS, no mudflaps, and no protective film. The car is a '09, we don't want a body kit added on (South Dakota's winters are bad for low vehicles), and we're going to get flaps & film put on.
Should that solve paint problems that are so seemingly common?
4 - I read about the issue with the car "pulling" to the left, and from what I've read it comes down to the Japanese-made Dunlops being out of round.
Is that the whole story, and how do I make sure the tires on the car are the good ones?
5 - Does anyone have anything else that I should know going into negotiation? I've never actually bought a car before (all were hand-me-downs from family members), and this is the first time my wife has bought a car from dealer. If you have any tips, or made a mistake you wouldn't want anyone else to repeat, it'd be VERY much appreciated.
Again, thanks a lot for you guy's help!

DO NOT BUY THE NEW LANCER!!!
The car is great if you like the paint to fly off of your brand new car. I bought a black 2008 Lancer GTS. I drove the car for 50 minutes on sanded roads during a recent snow storm. I ended up with Hundreds of rock chips along both sides of the car. Mostly next to the rear wheels. The car looks as if it has been sandblasted.
I went to the dealership and they told me it did not fall under warranty. Instead, they gave me a $1500 dollar estimate to fix the damage. My insurance company would not touch the claim, stating it is a problem with the car's design.
I called Mitsubishi corporate and sent them pictures. They determined it was not their fault and suggested I buy mud guards from them. I advised them that they don't even make a front mud guard for the Lancer! The customer service rep said "oh." I told them the damage comes from the FRONT tire.
I have filed a compliant with the Better Business Bureau and consumeraffairs.com. I hope they can help me. I also requested third party arbitration that Mitsubishi is required to pay for. They said they will sent me the paperwork.
If you have this problem call Mitsubishi corporate so we can get a recall!!! 1-888-648-7820
Think about it. If this car can't be driven on any kind of gravel without extensive paint damage, you would think they would have put a warning in the manual. WTF!!!!!!!?
03/08/08 update
Do not drive on gravel with this car.
I received a letter today stating I can't go to arbitration with Mitsubishi due to the fact that the car has a design flaw and the warranty doesn't cover rock chips. So Monday I will be speaking with a lawyer that handles product defects.
I did order some touch up paint from www.drcolorchip.com. They claim their product works very well. If you have paint chips, check out this site.
03/11/08 update
It's not looking good. The third pary arbitration company advised me they could not take this to arbitration due to the fact that the problem has nothing to do with the warranty.
I spoke with an attorney today. He advised me we could win the case, but it would cost a lot more than a $2000 paint job. He agreed with me that the car is flawed. He further advised me that filing a claim with the Better Businss Bureau may help. If you state in our claim that you will be advising other consumers not to buy their cars, they may help you in order to shut you up.
I ordered some touch up paint from drcolorchip.com. I will try that when it arrives. Check out the site. The results look good.
03/25/08 update
Today I tried out the touch up paint that I received from drcolorchip.com. This stuff worked great on my black 08 Lancer. There was severe road rash and it completely covered it up, making it look factory fresh.
Everyone should buy some mud guards from rallyarmor.com when they release the new flap for 2007+ Lancers. I watched a video with an STI fitted with rallyarmor. This car was whippin' around a gravel and dirt lot at high speed. He also did some 360's. There wasn't hardly anything on the sides of the car when he was done.
I believe dr colorchip and rally armor are our best options for our Lancers. Check out the sites!!!!!!!

I have been trying to find a member for the past hour. It was I while back that I saw his car. He has a blue (I believe) lancer with pictures of it sitting on a bluff. I think it has several mods, but for sure it has some graphics on the side. As I remember his graphics are kinda similar to member - WebzES.
If anyone knows this ride and where I can find more pics let me know.
Thanks

Greetings! So I was doing a once-over on my car the other day and I noticed that my blades are starting to crack. Even worse, I found that on the passenger side rubber is actually ripping off of the assembly! So I wanted to ask the community, what blades do you use or have you found to be a good performing brand? I've done some research and it's coming back with some good hits, but there are some issues of contact with the glass no matter the make or model of the blade or car.
Also, I was wondering if anyone knew if Mitsu sells just the rubber inserts. I found that you can actually take off the rubber part that wipes the glass from the assembly. Thanks in advance!
Regards.

Hi. I'm planning on buying a slightly used (6K miles) 09 Lancer. I will be getting a manual tranny.
I would like to know how reliable they are. I read the paint tends to chip, but how is the overall reliability of these cars? I'm more concerned about the transmission.
I know the 09 is still pretty new for too many problems to have came up, but any info would be helpful. Even info on older Lancers and models with similar engines/transmissions/ etc. would be helpful.
I am planning on keeping this car for 5-10 yrs. I know honda toyota are more reliable, but are Lancers strong as well? I know problems will occur as with any car, but I'm not sure how many and how often. Should I just stay with a Honda?
I've never had a Mitsubishi, and don't want to regret it years down the line. Of course I understand that this is a Mitsu Forum, so the opinions may be a biased.
I don't need a race car, just something fun to drive that looks nice. I won't be driving it too hard, just a little more aggressively than the average driver.
Would you recommend it?? I found 2 good deals, and It's between 09 Lancer (6K miles for $13750), or 08 Civic Si (coupe-8k for $17000), both before taxes/fees/etc.. I'm very torn between the 2. Lancer looks great, but Si probably is a better overall car (but 4 Grand more w/ taxes/fees).
BTW, I read that thread on Lancer reliability, just would like a little more info.
Thanks. I'm gonna have to make a decision today, so quick responses are really appreciated.

I notice a vibration only in the 5th gear of my Lancer GTS 2009. When the car is in 5th gear and I put my hand on the shift knob, I can feel a vibration when I move the shift stick. It only happens in 5th gear.
Anyone else noticed that?

So I'm coming closer to owning my car for 2 years now, and I noticed the positive node or w/e of my battery has formed battery acid, I do have a HID kit relayed to it but it doesnt seem to be the cause of it. Im just curious if anyone is having the same issue? If so what exactly is causing all of it? is it normal? And what should I do in my current situation?
I cleaned off as most as I could considering it was like foaming and formed into a square caused by the red plastic guard above it. Originally when I saw it, it was completely covered with this greenish blue powdery substance and the clamp was non visible.
this is what it looks like currently after me cleaning off as much as I can.

I've decided to use the iPod connectivity to plug my laptop into the stereo. I plugged the laptop in via a 2.5mm to 2xRCA cable and when I'm using the laptop on the battery it works fine. Not only can I watch TV/Movies in the car but I have my massive collection of music on tap. Problem is, I bought myself a Targus Auto/Air/AC power inverter which charges the laptop fine in the car, but when it's plugged in, I can hear all kinds of static and a whining sound that is relative to engine speed when it's plugged in. If I unplug it, the noise goes.
I need to fix this, as I'm thinking of building a purpose built PC to put in the car with a USB LCD touch screen to control the multimedia mounted to the dash. If I can't get rid of this engine noise, there's no point.

I just rolled over to 48K miles on my 2008 Lancer. I am also on my second set of tires (Goodyear Eagle F1's). I have been noticing some tire noise and it was actually time to rotate them. Upon going into the NTB and requesting them to look into the noise they found what they believe to be the reason. Here are the facts:
- Front tires (now on the back) are wavy
- I rotate AND get an alignment check on my tires every 3,000 miles at this same place
- When I purchased the tires I bought 225/45/R18's instead of 215/45/R18's because the tread pattern is that much better for the F1's
- Approximately 20k miles on the tires
Their diagnosis:
- My front struts need to be replaced and that the wavy tires are the result of having so much bounce on the front two tires because the struts are bad. (FYI the struts are not leaking)
- They recommended that when the struts are replaced they also should change out the stabilizer bars as well.
Has anyone heard of this tire warp problem? Can anyone direct me in their expertise about how to fix this? Do you honestly think that in 48k miles the struts are bad? I am not really spirited driver. Any ideas would be a big help, thanks!

Well my 2008 Lancer GTS is coming up to its 30k maintenance and I do follow the regular maintence schedule in the book at every 7500 miles (usually a little less so I don't go over). This of course causes a discussion at the dealer who wants me to do the other schedule at every 3750 but I do not drive my car in traffic or any of the other reasioning behind it but anyway.... Before I go to the dealer and they want me to pay 50000000000 dollars to check this and that when it really isn't needed (I don't mind paying if something is replaced but to check a belt that I can clearly see is fine is crazy) I do have a quesiton. I see on the 30k Regular Maintenance it is calling to replace the Spark Plugs? Is that for our cars? I had many cars in the past that went to 100k miles before needing them replaced and find 30k a little hard to believe. If that is the case I will have them changed but no way will the dealer do it for the cost they will probably charge.

Hey guys i just got into an accident the other day where a FedEx truck. Long story short i was trying to leave work. Couldn't see around a minivan in the parking stall so slowly started to back up to get a look, when next thing i know the FedEx guy is cruising down the parking lot. I tried to stop, and he honked his horn when his front tire's lug nuts made contact with my rear bumper and took a nice rip outta it.
Now i was looking at the damage and was a little curious about a couple things. I have a 08 ES, On the back and front bumper there are 2 little caps anyone know why they are there? Because when i looked at it all he would have done was scrape the bumper but since those caps where there it gave a point for the lug nuts to grab and act as a ripping point.
Anyway I need a new bumper. I was looking to eventually get a new body kit for the car but did not know if the Evo version could fit on the ES model? Iv been looking around and haven't really found and good looking aftermarket bumpers. I might just replace it with the stock version but dose anyone have any ideas?
Here are some pics of the carnage.

Nice crack going up the middle

If you notice its right where the little cap thing is where all the ripping started

Luckily only scraping along the shock absorber

Hello Guys and Gals!! here i am stuck with my lancer DE BAREBONE model with no Airconditioning option, so basically this what happened. I spoke with Anaheim Mitsubishi Parts and Service department, I asked them if they can give me a quote on how much is it to order the parts for the AC kit, mind you, the lance DE already has a Compressor installed in it, anyway, this guys quoted me $1035 for the whole thing (parts) so i was like, hmmm , that just sound right,, yeah right!!! anyway, he transfered me over to the service dept, and Spoke with PAUL, he quoted me $700 for the labor, i was like HOLY mother of BeJezuz!!! and told him Ok, ill call you back!!!. Now, i called the Long Beach Mitshubishi and spoke with the parts and service dept. they quoted me $1450 all in all Parts and Labor,, i was like GOD HAVE ANSWERED ME!!!!
now this is the (edited to remove profanity) "messed" up part!!!
I went to google and typed in "Mitsubishiparts.com" and called up there number and spoke with greg, This guy quoted me $641 for the AC KIT alone, i was like!! GOD ANSWERED MY PRAYER AGAIN, and i was kinda little hesistant coz im not sure whats in the AC KIT right?, then he told me that they order the parts DIRECTLY at mitsubishi itself, so i was like, Oh yeah!!!

Jackpot, right now they are shipping it to me and will be recieving it on friday 052209,
Then i called up ANAHEIM mitsu again and spoke with Paul, i told him that Long Beach Mitsu quoted me $450 labor only and you guys are charging me $700 for the same thing, and i told him straight up That if they can match that proce i will go with you guys instead, and he told me that, Ok, Let me talk to my technician to see if they can do it at that price, *this is kinda suspicious* anyway he called me back in about 5 minutes and told me that They will do it for $450 and turn around time is only 3-6 hours, so i agreed wih them and told them that ill bring the car on saturday morning and pick it up by 3-4 pm
Now, Im kinda scared coz they might "screw" up the whole install thing for me, or maybe they will tell me that im missing some parts and shit like that or maybe scratch my car or anything that will screw me over, i just want an AC damn it. anyway anaheim mitsu is Full of crap and they do everythin to squeeze more juice out for theyre own sake,. What im going to do is im gonan take pictures of the parts when it gets here on friday, and take pictures of the car to show them that it has no scratch or i have no missing parts so they cant bullcrap me. I will keep you guys posted, Wish me luck!!!

Well I read a view about this little box and i was somewhat skeptical... I didn't think it would actually work as well as it does. The black box is a system of waxes made my turtle wax specifically for black cars. It was $20 dollars at the local discount auto and well lets put it this way, worth it. I use to take good care of my car when i first got it (dont we all)? Well time, a full time job, full time college, and a kid kind of gives me no time for my car anymore. So its taken kind of the back seat. It doesnt get washed as often as it should, and it never gets waxed. Well i had a day off and i made it my goal for that day to clean my car inside and out.
I used the black box exactly how it says to and lets just say the results were amazing. The shine is just... incredible. It also claims to "fill" scratches and chips and make them less noticeable, and it does! here are some pics of my ride and how good it did!
the last pic is an actual chip that was filled, very nciely if i might add

I recently deposited 1000$ for a new Wicked white sportback. I had to pay 750$ for a Dealer trade??? He tells me the 750$ is for the trouble of getting it from another dealer and driving it here.
Now wtf? I'm already paying $2500+ fright/PDI/wheel locks/etc and its another 750$ for this. Holy Fuck man, these guys are really draining me. And on top of that he says the car may have 200+ Km. I expect the car to only have 14km!
Someone please put some light into this, if they are really trying to screw me over, i want my 1000$ back Mitsubishi Dealerships are the worst...

Hello all,
I'm interested in buying a new lancer, but I'm not sure to spring for the 2009 or the 2010. I know that they're making a "sportback" version available for the GTS and the Ralliart, but I'm not sure if the sportback will replace the sedan version or will it just be an option for buyers to choose from. Meaning that there will be a sedan version and a sportback version, and not just the sportback. I'm interested in the sedan. Would anybody be able to clarify?
Thank you
Supasing

So, this is just a vent. Need to get it off my chest.
Last Sunday, we noticed the car had an oil leak - I made an appointment on Monday for the car to go into Mitsubishi on Thursday morning. They refused to give me a loner vehicle until they knew what was wrong with it. - Thursday I call them to see what's wrong with the car - given that there's only 36,000 km on it I don't think I should be having these problems. The service manager and I don't see eye to eye to say the least. Car has been in abo 25 times since last May when I bought it. Unacceptable for a 2008. anyways, Thursday morning they tell me the car is leaking too much to see where it's coming from so they wash the bottom off, put dye in the oil and put it up on a hoist for a couple hours. I call back a few hours later, they tell me that the Front Crank Seal is leaking. They have to order me a new one. They are supposedly freighting it in on an overnight rush. Then, he decides to tell me that the "aftermarket cold air intake may be causing the issue" If you know anything about this stuff.. That's bull. He basically told me that since it was on the car when I bought it they are going to turn a "blind eye" to it and fix it anyway.
So, Friday comes.. I call them and see if my part comes in - it's not scheduled to be in until Monday now. That's fine. I ask to speak with Manager. Ask for a loner and I have to fight him for one. Finally I get one.
Monday - I call in and ask if my part is in - It's not scheduled to be in until Tuesday now. That's fine. I tell them "I'm keeping the rental until you give me my car back"
So, its Tuesday today. I call there this afternoon as I haven't heard from them. I guess they're working on it and it will be ready for 4:00.. So he says.
For kicks I looked up how much this Seal is on the mitsubishi parts website.. its $7.00... why don't they stock any of this in their parts departments? I mean this is a little ridiculous for a $7.00 part. They have rented me a car for 4 days and spent all this money freighting the part in.
I have a friend who's a mechanic at Ford... He's going to look at my car and see what type of job they do to it. I will be interested to know... I swear.. the dealings I have had with Mitsubishi.. never again.

Recall I got in the mail today...
"The Brake booster check valve may remain closed after the engine is shut off. When the vehicle is re-started and put into motion, under certain driving conditions (very slow maneuvers), there may be insuffcient initial braking assist, which may temporarily increase the stopping distance of the vehicle and increase the risk of a crash."
Dealer will repair for free, said takes about 30 min. This is for certain 08s and 09s. Just and FYI, might wanna contact your dealer to see if you apply.

This must be the month for accidents.... Some stupid bitch slammed her door into mine at work and dented the back driverside door. I mean HUGE dent. So her insurance is going to pay for it, but still I am soooo pissed. I have to go get an estimate today. I mean seriously can't people be more f'ing careful???!!! I park all by myself in the middle of the parking lot and she parks right next to me.... even though there are a million other spots. She was a like "I was late for work, sorry". She didn't even leave a note, I only knew b.c I get out before her and saw the blue paint in the dent and all down the door and then looked at the blue SUV next to me and was smart enough to put two and two together

Well fu bitch you're paying for it now.
Sorry I am done with my rant now.

Its been a while since i posted that i was in a accident here. And i had to get the whole rear cover replaced. U can see pics of the carnage here
http://www.mitsubishi-forums.com/index.php...ith+fedex+truck. Anyway got it fixed, and did a lil MOD'in.
Since the accident i installed the RA taillights, blacked out 3rd taillight and reflectors, and blacked out side signals. Also installed the Evo x license bracket to move the license plate over. i will have pics shortly, but i have some ones after i did the badge removal. i will be tinting the headlights, and painting the front end black. also installing some vinyl to cover all the holes and other deformities.
here are the pics after a nice cleanin..

Hi all,
anyone else get notice of a defective part on the 08/09 lancers?
we had to go in for the 18k service and they replaced it at that time which is great, and said we should be getting a letter in the mail sometime soon about it so just to toss it out.
BUT....
Since they replaced the booster, everytime the car is in park, and i touch it it makes a click/ tap sound right next to the shifter. and if your hand is on in, you can feel it.
My wife took it up there today and they said thats normal and may or maynot go away. wtf??
it doesnt make any noise when driving but having a auto i dont touch the break anyway when driving unless slowing down, which it again, doesnt make a sound. just from park.
any thoughts?

There are heaps of pictures of modded Lancers here, and kudos to those of you who have made your Lancer truly your own. I figured I might put some pictures of a stock 2009 Lancer VR-X (GTS for the Americans) that I took delivery of yesterday afternoon. It had 54km on the odometer when I picked it up. I took 42 photos and I wouldn't dare subject everyone to the massive bandwidth hogging those photos would cause posting them here, so I put them on Photobucket:

Factory upgrades:
Sunroof
Rockford Fosgate premium audio
Leather upholstery
Lancer car mats
Hope you all like it as much as I do

I'm leasing an 08 Lancer ES for 18 mos now. The other day, I turned the AC on but no cold air came out, just warm outside air. Went to the dealer this morning & was told the refrigerant is almost empty. They said there's probably a leak in the AC system so they put a dye & told me to come in 2 weeks. Was told that refrigerant charge is covered by warranty for only 1 year.
My question are:
a. Is it considered "normal" for a to lose refrigerant in just 18 mos? I have a 5-yr old Honda SUV & the AC system is still working very good, in fact, it cools quicker than my Lancer.
b. Are leaks in the AC system covered by warranty? I checked the Warranty & it only says "refrigerant charge is only covered as part of a warranty covered repair to the AC system."
Thanks in advance for your replies.

So I was coming home from the mall tonight in my 08 gts and some lil kid pulls up mext to me in an 09 lancer. He sits there and revs his engine like its a V8 or something. I mean i have the same car i kno what you got!!! from the rev I tell its bone stock and I have pulstars, a k&n cold air and running 98 octane... yes i said 98 octane in the tank (special brew from a local station.) i ran him up until about 70 mph where I had a good half car length and pulling away when i decided to hit the brakes cause I had a litte kid in the back seat and didnt want to push it. So needless to say the punk kid flew by and soon after throws on his hazards like he did something... i guess theres no purpose to this post other than just wanting to vent on little punk kids who dont know how to earn street respect and sure as hell dont give it. Feel free to add your 2 cents on this
