Hello, I have just recently purchased my 07 GT eclipse, I do have a problem - I suffer from a minor ADHD and I am easily bothered by minor things such as: misplaced personal items, physical appearance etc. Does anybody know of a way to shut of my day time running lights, I fully realize they are in place for my personal safety, but with them being on during daylight (I live in Florida), it's just really bothering me and causing minor mental problems. I have already talked to my dealer and they basically said that they can not do that due to safety reasons. I only have a few choices left, to do it myself or exchange my car for a Nissan z. I am not a big fan off going to local car shops due to my ADHD; I really dislike the sanitation inside those facilities. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me.

Get the Z. I only say this because I work on Nissans. I will say this much, I have a friend working down the street at Mitsu who says no major problems with the new Eclipse have been found.

Oh, to answer your question, I know the Altima and Maxima have a separate fuse for DRLs. Check your fuse box to see if you do, too.

Here's a copy of my Galant DRL post:

Ok. Here's a pic of the pin you need to bend (or remove) to disable Daytime Running Lights on Galants (and Eclipses). This module (known as the Front ECU Module) is under the hood, inside the fuse box, on the driver side. If you're not sure, look in the manual. Remove the Front ECU, and open it carefully using a flat screwdriver. You can "pop" the white snaps on the black metal part (it's a chip cooler) to completely access the pins, and remove the bottom cover (black plastic). Bend the second last (or 1st) of the SMALL pin connector. Re-assemble, and voila!

P.S. Please be careful. And do not sue me if something happens. You're a grown up, assume the consequences. :P

MMMMMMMmmmmmm... I'm not sure how much clearer I can be. Then again, I own an '06 Galant, and tried it on a '06 Eclipse too. Not a 2007...

Same for me, can't really see the pic, but I do know where my fuse box is located.

By bending the front ecu's It wont mess up my original lights correct? I just want it to be a normal car with normal NIGHT running lights.

Thanks!

I would like to do the same thing on an 2005 Endeavor. It may be the same but just in case, where did you find the info that led you to the correct pin?

There are times when you just dont want the DRLs on so a switch would be nice but off all the time is better than on ALL the time.
Many cars will turn off the DRLs when you apply the parking brake but not the Endeavor.

Try this:

P.S. The front ECU is located under the hood, on driver's side, under a plastic cover.

is that for the eclipse or YOUR galant? cause i have a few techs that tried this and said it does not work. its not a pin you have to break but wire in the actually harnest so that it does not get short pulses.

Applefish,

Just wanted to thank you for your post on disabling drl.

I've had my Eclipse for just over a year. The service guy said it couldn't be done. I submitted a post early last year, nobody knew how to do it. I had just about given up, thought I'd check the website again, and there it was. It took me about 2 minutes Sat. I hated not having the choice - here in W TX in the bright daylight it seemed ridiculous to have your lights on all day.

Thanks!!

I know the ones posting here does not like the DRL so don't bash me to much on the question.

Considering this, does anyone know how to wire the fog lights so that they work as DRL rather than the main lights? I've always like the look of DRL fog lights than the main lights. I had a '92 Toyota Celica that wired my fog lights to be DRL.
