Hi. Mitzi Challenger 1996.

Disconnected the battery to change it, but now the digital compass seems to have gone crazy...just have the letter "S" for "south" rotating around the screen. Does anyone know how to recalibrate the compass.....there is a button marked "S", but it doesn't seem to do anything to fix the compass.

Can anyone tell me how to reset it.....Thanks.

Hi there, reassure yourself the compass hasn't gone crazy but it's trying to initialize itself. To do so you must find a place where you could go for a full 360 degrees turn(car park, open area). Press the "S" button and make the 360 turn slowly and you'll find that the compass has resetted itself. Good luck.

Did you try the proceedure above? It should work on yours as well. You may have to do more than one circle.

Just to add...

I would normally just press the "S" button and go around at an empty intersection, and Voila! Just don't interupt the circle, you'd be fine. Don't even need to go slow if you don't have to.

regards.
