This is the patch you need with your version. If you need to know how to burn this image go back to page 3 and read post 55 for the directions I posted to help out SixFeetDeep.

Ok so I hate to be a party pooper and I do really want to do this, but can this void our warranty somehow? Just what exactly is this patch doing? The last thing I want is to void the warranty on my Navi and sound system. that was the whole reason I got them factory installed...

Honestly I doubt that the dealer would be able to tell you did this to your nav unit. If you have to take the car in for servicing just make sure there are no DVD's in the car. But to answer your question. I have no idea if this voids the warranty or not because no wires are being cut and your HDD was not removed but I would still think it would. If you are in fear of this then do not install the patch, however if you are like the rest of us then enjoy! Basically all you are doing is replacing a file in the Nav, the dealer will have no way to tell unless they drive your car with a dvd in and watch it then you can say "I didn't know it wasn't supposed to do that, it has been that way since I drove off the lot." See problem solved. I will say this. since I have done this patch I have only used the DVD while driving twice, it will be good when my daughter is old enough to sit in the front seat and watch Elmo(can't wait for that ) but other than that it was really of no use to me.

I just went fishing this weekend (for the 1st time, lol) and it was kinda useful.
It kept my friends entertained during the trip, only problem was some ppl ended up staying in the car and watching movies instead of hanging out on the dock.

And of course my kids like it...
The Pixar catalog keeps them from falling asleep during trips.

The instructions on how to check to see what version you have is on here.

This link above is for the 00.30.94 version. Just open the link & copy the data to a disk & then load it into the Navi unit & follow the easy steps.

All instructions on how to do everything is on this thread.

Use imgburn. It's fast, it's free, and more importantly... IT WORKS.

That's how I made my copy :)

does this patch screw around with the other speed sensitive stuff like the windshield wipers and volume control??

oh, and p.s. the warranty on the nav and sound is good for three years. read all sorts of fun stuff in the warranty manual.

No, all it does is removes the DVD while in motion restriction. It will not affect any other part of the navigation unit. I have played with every option of the nav since I did the patch and have had no problems.

i think that is just the blanket warranty that they use on commercials and stuff. i read the warranty book and it said that all audio, nav, etc. is good for three years 45000 miles. also, all filament bulbs will be replaced by the dealer for three years. little known fact.

Well someone over at Project Lancer.net has reported that their NAV version is 34.94 so it looks like there will be need for a new patch.

But wouldn't that mean that there is a new version of the Navi software out then?
I was told that new versions wouldn't be out for another 5-6 months.......

After you have the file downloaded open Nero.

Click File

Click Open

Select the MMCS-261UM.iso file

Click Burn

Turn your key into the on position and load the disk

After a few seconds it will ask if you want to update, select yes

Wait about two minutes or so for it to load the update. You will see a progress bar

Once it is complete it will ask you again if you want to load the update, select no

Let your passengers enjoy a movie while you drive!

Amazing. That's all I can say. This was the easiest modification ever. Took me a total of maybe 10 minutes to download Nero and restart my comp. About 10 minutes to download the file. 30 seconds to burn. 1 minute to install on car. I am so happy!

i cannot thank all of you enough. I FINALLY got the patch to work on my lancer. I downloaded the imgburn program and with it I burnt the file and bingo. wirks perfectly. Its been quite some time since I started this post, but it definitely paid of to wait for this moment. Thank you all!!!! My liscense got suspended for speeding to much, so now that my wife drives me all over the place...I can at least enjoy a movie from the passenger seat. hehe
