ColtLancer... about your G15b engine.. how about the spare part since it's an old and rare engine?

Old and rare? Hmm i disagree with you on that coz I'm in Malaysia. Our national cars, Proton Saga, Wira and Iswara is still using a 4g15b variant engine. Their spare parts fit like a charm! So for me no worries....yet.

Can you prove that back in the 1976 safari rally, the A73 coltlancer uses a 4g63? To my knowledge the 4g63 is developed in 84' for the evo. Moreover the galant VR-4 came out as early as 85' but nowhere near the 70's.

Okay... just to set it straight, the 70's Mitsubishi Lancers were equipped with the 4G3x engine. For Joginder Singh's WRC Lancer, he used a 4G32 according to Mitsubishi's website. The G63B, elder brother of the 4G63, came out by 1984. So unless Joginder was able to acquire a prototype of the Sirius engine, there's no way a 4G63 was fitted in the A73 Lancer back in 1974 and 1976.

Besides, it's more inspiring learning that a 1600 A73 Lancer was able to beat up a Lancia Stratos and Porsche's 911 armed with a 2600 engine.

I agree with you. About 1600 Lancer beating Stratos, in my other forum my Mirage Colleagues argued that the A73 in the 70's are 4WDs becoz it should be a Rally spec car!!! Talk about skepticism!

http://www.mitsubishi-motors.com/corporate...cer_1600gsr.htm

"It's remarkable to note that the 1600cc Lancer beat Bjorn Waldegaard's Porsche 911 which boasted 2600cc, proving that the light, compact reliable Lancer could beat all-comers." This line can be found in the 3rd paragraph.

Prior to the Lancer 1600 GSR, there was the Galant 16L GS, which sported the 4G31 (1500cc) that had a maximum output of 150 horsepower. I don't have numbers yet on the Lancer's output...

I found out from a good friend of mine that all 4G engines can share the same tranny. Hence, a 4G32'd car can swap in a 4G63 without worrying too much about transmission issues, just the engine mounts. That same friend of mine said that a 4G92 MIVEC swap would also be possible for the A73. :D

Hmm... 175hp on a 865kg body... not bad. :)

Leafar,

Oi! Pinoy ka rin pala!

G63B ba yan from EX boxtype? Ayos a!

Great car w/ great setup! Hope to see that car soon!

blooz,

AFAIK, the G63B is relatively bolt-on for your Lancer, but for the newer gen 4G63's (1989-up), conversion has to be done on the tranny.

Jnry3, the bolt pattern of my tranny is the same as the FWD newer 4G63 (1st Gen DSM)... so, i'll have some trouble with the engine mounts only...
Thanks for your answer. :)

6-bolt, right? Yeah... I remember reading about this... but for 2nd Gen 4G63's, there's a bigger prob. Let me know how the swap goes. I'm considering a 1G 4G63 swap vs. a 4G92 DOHC MIVEC swap. TIA!

I am from Trinidad, W.I.

Lately I have been having thoughts about bringing back an ole school Lancer

we never got any Lancers befor the A120 model

that is the one that was ~1972

a lot of guys here crossbreed these models with Nissan CA-19, SR-20\DE\DET engines

I would like to know what the finished product of your project looks like

ColtLancer, try the 4G92 MIVEC. It should fit... it'll be the engine in my A72D. :)

I would if my car's original capacity is 1400cc. Restrictions in my country allows only 15% increase in capacity upgrade. That is why looking at 4G91..

Anyway, if you're going to fit 4G92, means you're gonna put in a ECU? EFI?
Remember to upgrade the brakes too my friend.

Redseven80,

AFAIK, all 4G engines can fit each other's trannies. All you really have to worry (essentially) about are the following:

1. Clutch/Flywheel
2. Engine Supports

Regarding your question, it is possible.

HTH :)
