Wut kinda vehicle? Soch or DOCH , im taking its a DOCH correct? On teh DOCH head the Cam Sprockets are actually the same. They both have the same "plane" lines in the same area. And they are both the same size. The knock pin on the cam should be directly up, this means the cams will be in time when installing the cam sprockets. This is for the older style 4G6 cam gears that have the Cam-TDC sensor at the rear of the intake cam.
On 2nd design yu cannot mix them up because the cam sensing blade/reluctor is on the back of the intake cam , as the cam position sensor is behind the camshaft intake sprocket and the exhaust cam sprocket is plain. Altho i read this question again and think that yu are referring to a SOCH V6? They should be the same. But in that case, on each cam turn it to where the knock pin on each is facing up, the cams will be in time, then put one sprocket on and see if the timing marks of the sprocket and cover match , if not , the other sprocket is the one that goes there. I think i was confused by wut the person above meeh posted , about 4G6 engines when yu talkin about a 6G72 V6
