Fully Debadge My Lancer 2008 Gts Because It's 2.0, Debadge Options

My Lancer GTS 2008 is 2.0.The Lancer GTS 2009 is 2.4.I'm asking myself....Why this happen?Why?In less (half a year)they change and make a motor upgrade.I think to myself.... I have a cheap GTS(i have the same motor than the base Lancer).I'm just a little sad and debadge all the emblems from my trunk.I don't feel that i get a GTS.(The persons that buy the 2009 GTS will have a REAL GTS.)It's my opinion. :57:

Hey, ....less advertisment for Mitsu, and it looks pretty good too. lol

You're one of many with discontent towards Mitsubishi screwing over 08' GTS owners with the 2.0L. I think, I speak for alot of 08' GTS owners when I agree that Mitsubishi was very crude and selfesh by leaving the engine upgrade until the last minute. First year car symdrome; Mitsubishi style. (jerks). All we can do is try to live with it.

From what I know through the dealer, Mitsubishi intended to provide the GTS engine with the 2.4L initally. They just didn't have enough time before release and in the process decided to provide the standard 2.0L. The dealers where aware of this, but chose to keep it a tiny little secret until the next model year.
Essentially this is still the same engine as the 2.0 just bored out by an extra couple millimetres (makes a diff thou).

On the bright side, the New GTS costs 1300$ more this year in Canada, and you have to get leather with the S/S package which also went up by 700$. Some people don't like this and personally I am happy with the cost savings. I threw in an Injen CAI and soon a works exhaust which will add the extra torque and HP needed by the 08' Lancer. But next time, I'll probably wait for a 2nd year model, from another more reputable brand.

I would recommend though that you contact Mitsubishi by letter and phone to let them know your resentment with this issue. I did, lol. I think anyone who feels disapointed by this should write as it's good to rattle their corporate regime every so often.

Anyways best of luck man, and hopefully you'll find some way to adapt/resolve this issue.

Yeah just finished Debadging mine a few hours ago.... It does suck, but thats what we all get for jumpin on the first year....

How did you take off the trunk opener?


I only have the Mitsu badge left on mine (& of course the trunk opener) but I really would like to get the chrome ring around the trunk opener painted to get rid of the chrome.


Is there a simple way of taking the trunk opener off or can you pop it off to relocate it?

My GTS don't come with trunk opener from the trunk.Why?Don't know why.Maybe it's a update version or for Puerto Rico this option don't came with it. :57:

the "trunk opener" button is for those that have the FAST key system

On the 08 model you had two NAV packages. You had the NAV and Technology package that came with NAV and the fast key which also gave you a button on the outside of the drunk to open it. If you didn't get the NAV or you got the NAV Accessory package then you did not get Fast key and you did not get the button on the trunk.

Sad thing is the NAV Techology Package was cheaper and you got more. The reason for that was, the car was built like that in Japan.

Anyone who had the NAV Accessory package got their NAV installed at the port of entry. Meaning the car came with the basic radio and the NAV was installed at the port before the dealers got them. You cannot retro-fit the Fast Key and since the NAV is an Accessory, which costs more the package was more.

When I bought my 08 GTS I was very picky and searched only for one that had the NAV and Technology Package because I wanted more for less money!! :P

Whats with GTS owners feeling like they are sooo much better than ES owners lol.. Its the same friggin car only with a little better suspension, worthless nav system and a small spoiler :) Oh and 18in wheels that most GTS owners replace with aftermarket anyways.
Quit whining about 09s. Its only 16 horses more, and God knows how reliable the engine inernals are, seeing as how they thinned out the walls. :) dont be mad, get glad!

I'm not big on stickers and extra "crap" but I definately do not like the debaged look..
