Does anyone know if it is possible to wire the OEM bluetooth in a 2008 Lancer VRX (GTS) to aftermarket HU?

So that when the steering wheel controls (Speak/Answer/Hangup) is pressed, it mutes the HU and does all the normal stuff that it does with the stock radio?

Would I need an adapter, or will I be able to just connect up some wires to the audio interrupt in on the HU? I presume the Bluetooth receiver is separate to the stock radio as it can come with the car or be installed separately...

Thanks in advance

I'm wondering the same thing. I think there would have to be an adapter for the other HU, and I haven't seen anything.

I'm thinking of getting a different HU that comes with BT and everything. I'm hoping I can integrate the current antennae, microphone, and maybe rewire the 3 buttons on the steering wheel to work with the new HU directly.

Anyone out there replaced the HU and got the BT working?

i think if you get a HU with bluetooth and has the feature of the steering wheel controls it should work. There has got to be a way to do this, i dont use it much, but when i get my new HU i sure want to have it working cuz then whats the point of the buttons and Bluetooth

also add onto the what about the song skip and the volume controls and everything that should work as well right?

This topic has also been discussed. Contact crutchfield.com to see when they will make adapters for out steering wheel controls. As of factory bluetooth with aftermarket HU.. it is NOT possible period. U can buy Aftermarket HU with its own bluetooth.

I didn't think integrating the BT into another HU would work.

so here was what I was thinking (i don't know if its possible but...) If i could get another HU with BT that has an external control box with a few buttons (2 or 3 to control the built in bluetooth), I could open up the external control box and the buttons on the steering wheel, wire up the 3 buttons to the control box, and then control the aftermarket HU from the steering wheel.

Of course without the adapter for the stereo controls its pointless so I'll just wait for the steering wheel adapter first.
