Drives: 1986 Mitsubishi L200 Ute

Hey guys, i'm new to the forum, but need some help.. well, more advice

I have a 1986 L200 single cab ute, and am about to give the engine an overhaul. I'm going to do the cambelt, tensioners, idlers, balance belts, headgasket, waterpump etc, but am wondering if there is anything else i should do while i've got the thing in pieces.

Also, while i'm writing, since i've owned the ute, it's always had trouble starting.. she'll turn over and come to life, only to die quickly.. after pumping the gas a bit and a couple of starts it's sweet. I've given the carb a bit of a clean, tightened all the bolts and screws, adjusted the air/fuel mixture, idle speed and auto choke, but it's still doing it

any advice would be fantastic..

cheers,

daniel

make sure the oil pump is working to specs

if the fuel pump is electronic
test the fuel pump and the fuel pump relay
also replace the fuel filter
