Any Subwoofer Recomendations? Options

So i was sitting around playing with my new JVC touchscreen I had installed and "POP!!!" blew out one of my subs. They weren't very old but not to upset since I payed 40$ for them (a buddy was hammered and didn't even remember selling me them the next day hahaha) Probably going to replace them both just with a single sub in the trunk (would like some of my trunkspace back) just wondering if anyone has any recomendations on a single sub that is still going to pound. I love the low bass and love to hear the system pound, and have had my trunk Dynomatted so rattling is not an issue...

I will probably be keeping the same amp I am running now, it is a Pioneer PRS-D2000T, a full-range 150 watt x 2 (@ 4 ohm) rated amplifier that Pioneer refers to as Class FD...The PRS-D2000T sports a HP/LP/All-Pass 12dB crossover that ranges from 40Hz to 120Hz and a remote bass boost controller...

how does it hit the highs and lows?

the former is too low and latter would be too much for one sub.

My all time favorite sub has always been the JL Audio 12" W3 v2 in a sealed enclosure (ported boxes just make too much noise and not enough music for me)

The 10" subs do not bring out the lower bass freq's as well as a 12" does, however the 10" does bring out the higher end bass freq's. I usually have my system tuned for the speakers to handle the high bass/midrange anyways.

A 12" will hit nice and low and really bring some support to the whole sound

I've always been a fan of MTX subs. Had dual 10"er's in my mustang, hit hard and sounded great.

im a fan of the Kicker subs, if your looking for something loud with clarity, the cvr are great for the price, and i found that they dont need a huge amount of (amp) power to run them

It all depends on what you are intending to listen to. Inho anything bigger than 10" is only good for listening to rap and watching movies.
I have two MTX TC510s in a ported box, and they pound pretty good, even when fast beats come on they never skip a beat.

I would recommend Kicker any day, they are the Lexus of car audio, so is JL. I myself am a huge fan of the Infinity Kappa subwoofers. Visonik, Audiobahn and Boss are complete crap, buy on budget only plz. The Kicker L5 is a great subwoofer, the square design makes it act more like a 12 with the speed of a 10

Lol... revival post from the dead. Anyways, I loved my dual JL W2 before I blew them out. I would recommend JL W series. The peak power doesn't really matter. It's more of the rms value that you want to know. The dual W2 12" subs will turn your rear view mirror around backwards. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grin.gif)

I wish they never posted peak power, it means nothing. Its just a way for uneducated customers to get ripped off. If a subwoofer is 250 watts RMS and it says the peak is 1000 watts, the customers go "ohh 1000 watts for cheap! I will buy it!!" when the sub wont ever reach that potential. Sorry!

Box dimensions and cubic feet are extremely important, a grade A+ sub can sound like crap without the right box. As long as you stick to the good brands like Kicker, JL, Pioneer, Infinity, Alpine, Rockford Fosgate, MTX, Polk Audio and Boston Acoustics you really can't go wrong. They will have in the manual what box you need.

i would have to say RE audio is a great sub its extremely under rated. i have 2 RE SEx 12 inch subwoofers with a 1500 watt monoblock amp and a capasator and they will blow u away and there not to to expensive. also the memphis m3 is a solid sub and is a little better than the RE but a little more money but its worth it. i hope this helped

though is you were to have a sealed box with 12" they respond alot faster with more clarity

Im a 6 year audio enthusiast now, and ive been in SQ and SPL competitions. I like the kickers for SPL because of the surface area and displacement, but they are juicers. My best and favorite of all sub woofers are the Kappa perfect 12's. They sound amazing in a tuned ported box, and if ur a rocker, than the 12 tuned sealed box is really nice. They have a low power consumption and high output with amazing clarity. You dont find to many highs' sorta speak with a sub woofer, and even in the low end, 20hz and lower u dont hear it. Ive won 3 local comps now with one 12, tuned and a 400w rms JL amp.
The reason i vouch for 12" is because musics ever changing and if u decide u like hip hop, or rock, even death metal, the 12 is more versatile.

Perfect Abb, I agree with you 100%!!!! I used to have a 10" Kappa Perfect (couldnt find 12 they were discontinued) and it was phenomenal, I also have been around car audio for a few years and I think the perfect subs are the best I have ever heard. they know sound quality, and adjusting the cores is a great feature when first tuning your equipment or if you need to sell the sub to someone with different music taste. too bad they dont make them anymore.
