Newbie Group: Members Posts: 14 Joined: 4-May 08 Member No.: 57,140 Status: Location: new zealand Drives: 1996 mitsubishi RVR x2	i have a problem w/ my RVR. when i switch on my OD then step on the brakes to stop it makes a loud thud. but when i turn off the OD it doesnt make that sound. what could be the problem. i suspect the gearbox but im not to sure? pleasssssssssse help. any ideas?

Expert Group: Moderator Posts: 1,104 Joined: 31-October 04 Member No.: 2,513 Status: Location: Alexandra, New Zealand Drives: 1997 Pajero GDI	I'm not sure how the OD works but do know these cars have common tranny faults if the fluid is not regulary changed. I recently did mine and the mechanic said the fluid was apsolutely disgusting and the flush removed allot of sediment from the oil cooler. After replacing fluid it has never worked better and I recommend doing so if you have not done. Do make sure the right fluid is used as many shops unknowly try to substitute another type and end up ruining the tranny. Jim
