This is the first vehicle I've had that I don't do my own oil changes. I've been to Speedee 4 times and never had any issues until a week and a half ago. After they did the change I got home and smelled something burning, popped the hood and there was a little bluish/gray smoke. I called them up and they said it was probably just some spilled oil, so I took it in and they washed things down. The smoke was gone the next day after a little driving. Now for the past 4 days my oil light has been turning on randomly, usually after it's warmed up. The engine sounds like it always has, no ticking or screeching, I'm not burning, leaking or otherwise losing any oil. The dipstick only has those 2 little holes in it, so I don't know if it was possibly overfilled since the oil goes about 1/4 of an inch above the top hole, but I don't know if that would make the oil light go on. According to the little sticker they put on the windshield they put in the same synthetic 5w30 as always. Any ideas?

FIRST, start with replacing whatever crappy aftermarket filter they put on it.
mitsu engines never have oil pressure issues on their own.

if that doesnt cure it, replace the oil pressure switch... which could fail on its own, or could have been disturbed by the oil change monkeys.

had the same problem on my van....
when the oil got changed, dirt and metal deposits got into my oil pressure sensor..... could be the same prob....
could remove it, clean it a little with compressed air....
could also be because ur oilcap isn't on proper... so no pressure can build up...

can't be because there is too much oil in it...
and the smoke would have been because they spilled some if ur not loosing any...

hope i could help

This is just a follow up. I forgot that I posted here. It ended up being a shorted sending unit. It was either extreme coincidence that it happened just after an oil change, or when the garage supposedly "hosed off" the underside they got careless. In any event the whole thing has prompted me to have an actual pressure gauge installed. I'll be doing my own oil changes from now on I think. I can always drive into the bay door at work when nobody is around if the ground is crappy.
