So usually I am the audio wiring god of this website, but I have run into a block.

A friend of mine plays bass guitar, and has a bass amp with a 1/4" outlet for an extension speaker cab. We have an old speaker that will work well with the bass (12" celestion), but it is a +,- wire speaker.

Does anyone know how to turn +,- wire into a 1/4" mono instrument cable. Suggestions on how to splice are okay as well. I just cant figure it out for the life of me. I have googled it as well but to no avail.

to clear things up, I need to leave one side with the 1/4" plug, the other side needs to plug into the speaker wire.

I somehow need to connect this:

ok those look like mono plugs so if you just the cable open then there should be 2 sets of wires, one will be kinda like another cable and the other should be loose wires, the loose wires will be your - and the other set will be your +, spice those to your speaker wires and you should be good

get a CHEAP cable. (that you can take apart) and unscrew the end, and you'll see the connections made on the jack. Then just solder the speaker wires to it with the right polarity. Center= positive Outer= negative.

Or check in radio shack. They have all kinds of neat little adapters that might help you. But for every adapter you use your signal gets weaker, and there will be more "background noise"

Our bassist plugs directly into the PA. No amp or anything. It gives it the cleanest sound you'll ever get, then you can just mix in the drums and vocals a little lower so it all matches up.
