Hello 1 am driving a 93 colt 1.5 litre and has stalling problems. I have had it to the same mechanic three times.

The first time he cleaned the throttle body no change , the second time he changed the distributer still had problems the third time he changed the fuel pump and the car did not improve any.

I took it to another mechanic they could not find problem other than a loose spark plug wire but the car still stalls after leaving shop. He blamed it on a gremlin.

After researching on web it sounds if it may be ecu when the car is in process of stalling I hear a few clicking sounds behind console as car dies this may be a short or bad relay or something.

I have a 92 colt as well are the ecu computers exchangable between the two cars or can old computer be fixes if this is what it is.

I am getting so close to sending this thing off a cliff ( with the two mechanics in the trunk (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Any feed back thanks.

Before you go ahead with replacing the ECM, take a look at it and see if there are any leaking capacitors on the board. That was fairly common in those model years. More info on that here.... http://www.avproecm.com/process1.htm
As for compatibility, go to www.rockauto.com , look them both up, then compare part numbers.
FWIW
YMMV

Following up on my post. The problem was the crank angle sensor located inside the distributor. After spending several hundred dollars on hit and miss mechanics I was lucky enough to diagnose problem with internet searching and the downloadable manuals from this site for my car. I installed a 92 distributor ( contrary to what scam shops tell you 90-95 are interchangable exept for one model I forget at this moment.) Bought a 20.00 timing light off Craigslist and have put 4000k on since.
Boyaaa.
