Battery is good; get nothing; i.e., no cranking of starter at all when key is turned. Car has been sitting out all winter and just put new battery in as old one needed replacing anyway. Probably the starter / solenoid but just wondering if there is a fuse or something I may be overlooking.

from the post first place to check is the starter motor and the battery cable to it for voltage

there should be a click if the solenoid is working

take out the starter and test it

does the car motor turn over by hand (check for engine rotation)

I get a click but no starter; am sure the engine is fine as it has always been perfectly maintained, and last time ran it was in excellent running condition.
don't have a voltmeter though, so guess I will have to remove the starter and take it in for testing.

There are many diagrams in the topic pinned for meeh by Chain rattle. It says Intake and Induction. The starter is under the car frunt radiator side lower. The frunt exhaust downpipe passes around it . Its very easily noticable. Yu can remove the small wire that plugs into it to check signal input frum the ignition switch with a continuity tester. Ground teh tester and put the probe end in the wire once yuve diconnected it , and have sumone perform a starting key cycle as if they are attempting to start the car and see if the tester lights up. If it does then yur starter has simply failed.

many planetary type starters as on this car when they fail they just fail, no clicking. One reason for failure also is if oil , liek a leaky cam cover gasket drips oil into it over time. This is a high reason for starter failuers on Diamantes ,Galants ,Debonairs with any V6 (6G72,6G73,6G74, ^6A12 , 6A13) Also as Chain rattle has advised make sure that yur grounding cable has not coreded at the engine side.

SInce the solenoid is clicking, I assume it is properly grounded and getting voltage to the starter so sounds like the starter just went bad ? THere are no oil leaks so probably just need a new one after 150k miles on it.

Hey
Your getting a click, it can still be your silinoid. Disconnect neg batt cable, pull starter (2 bolts) remove wires. on your bench remove silinoid plunger, you will probably see some electrical arking damage. Clean with emery paper and lite oil, re-assemble. Or you can replace it for $250.
