Hi
I recently bought a 03 Carisma DID and am quite happy with it.
About 2 weeks ago I cleaned down the engine as there was wet oil in certain places including around the engine stop valve if thats the correct name located at the back of the engine. I removed the plastic and rubber hosing connected to this and there was a lot of oil residue within the pipe. Since cleaning the area around the stop valve seems clean and dry.
Question 1: is this normal oily film on the inside of this pipe or is it indication of something wrong?

Last week as i was driving home one of the hoses i had cleaned came off as i had not it tightened fully. The car startted lose power and i could see a lot of smoke in my mirror. I stopped, popped the bonnet and thightened i up again. Car seemed ok but now i notice she seems a little sluggish and thereto be a flat spot when accerating at low revs. Otherwise she is running great.
Question 2: What is the possible cause and can i do anything without going to a dealer?

Thanks
Shane

Its really hard to say , i think i kno wut yu are speaking of and then i am also not sure if we are on the "same page". If yu are talking about the charge air piping , a slight oil residue is normal to a most. This is because of the crankcase ventilation system. now if yu have disrupted the vacuum line or actuator to the ABV , (Air Bypass Valve) on the charge air piping this would cause boosting issue. Also if there is a loose connector between the ABV , or any section of the charge air piping between the Air Meter and the throttle plate this will cost boost lost and low rpm power issues.

(Is this turbo or non?) On natural Aspirated Diesels , check to make sure that the air piping frum the intake pipe frum the Air Meter and throttle plate , or that no hoses are disconnected between there also. This will cause loss of power. I am unsure about all yur situation so a little more info may help.

Thanks for the reply.
The engine is a turbo version F9q1.
The hose that came off is an elbow type that connects the top of the intercooler assembly to the airhose with the boost sensor connector which then goes to the exhaust/intake manifold.
Hope this helps
