Turning Key To Accessories Should Light Which Dash Indicators On A Tp?, Anyone have any ideas? Options

I've sometimes wondered, what lights are supposed to come on the dash when you turn the key to Accessories on a TM-TP (1987-1991)? I know the BRAKE word, Oil Low (oil can), Battery Low (battery) and Globe Failure (globe with cross through it)lights should come on, but should any others? What about the Overheating/High Temperature (Thermometer) light?

When you don't know this, you could get a warning light and not see it because the globe failed but you didn't know as you weren't looking for it to come up on the "lights check" when you turn the ignition key just prior to cranking the starter motor.

I've scoured the internet and TN Series Manual but there's nothing about this anywhere.

O/D = overdrive if an automatic

a door open warning light
also high beam light if on

Testing turning the key from Off to Accessories to On lights the Oil, Battery and Park Brake Lights. When it cranks, it also lights the Globe Failure and BRAKE lights just during the cranking. Is anything missing there? There are two brake related lights, BRAKE and Park Brake, which are fairly self-explanatory.

Despite the presence of a Thermometer/Temperature light (a "Thermometer in hot water" icon) and Engine failure light, are you saying they should not come on in a bulb check? That seems strange to me.

The Door Open warning light does come on, since the bulb was actually fitted. Had to remove it because the battery would get flat overnight after a car struck it so hard that the right hand rear door couldn't close, leaving the light on permanently.

I've never had any problem with the OD Off (Overdrive Off) light or Fuel Low light.

I have had a look at an elete digi dash and a TP dash out of an executive
all the bulbs are in place on both the dashes so
if the car boils the temp light should show

I didnt see a temp warning light glow when I blew a head gasket

on my TP executive the dash lights showed as listed above only

the "brake" light will come on if the brake fluid is old or empty resiviour

That settles this topic for me. If your TP dash is doing the same thing as mine, I have nothing to worry about with regard to unknown blown bulbs.

There is always the probability that both of our dash's have the same error but that is fairly remote and not worth looking into in my opinion.

Most likely the temperature sensor for that light burns out after a few years and you have to buy a new one. It's probably that one on the inlet manifold.

I bet 99% of people would think you could put some gaffer tape over the switch if a door wouldn't close so that the Door Open light didn't come on. The truth is, it will only last a few hours. That switch is tough, and will always win against tape. I know because I tried it, and was disappointed at how ineffective it was.
