Hi guys im new to owning an eclipse and i have acquired this project car.
I just got a 96 eclipse with a blown 420a 2.0 engine in it. The bottom end is toast.
So my question is should I put a stock 420a engine in it, I can get a 420a engine and tranny for 250$ 5 speed tranny.
But i would like to have a turbo for my car. so i was wondering what other engines i could put in my car and roughly how much it would cost.

I am pretty new to eclipse also. You can get a running 420a for $250? Man, I can't find dead ones around here for that!! Is it in running condition, or just a rebuildable core? Is your block not rebuildable at all?

If you search a bit you will find people do build up and turbo the 420's Some forged internals and proper parts you can turbo that badboy no problem down the line.

Someone will chime in I am sure with more info, but keep searching meanwhile there is quite a bit of info here on it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/00000732.gif)

Almost any engine can be put into anything. It's just a matter of money and time.
As for turboing your 420A......
Look in the pinned area. I pinned a thread for just this reason.

Yeah there have been about 34957301957204398 topics on this before but here I will tell you anyhow. Direct drop in cars are Eagle Talon ESI, 95 - 99 Eclipse base, Rs, and Gs and 2.0L avengers. Slight mod work you can get a block from a 95 - 99 neon and put your timing components and head on it and make it DOHC. IF you are lucky enough to find a Neon R/T with a good engine its less work. Without major mods you wont get an engine to drop in. You would be better off getting a GST or GSX or rebuilding your engine for turbo.

The engine in my Gs I got from a junkyard for $50. It needed new valve stem seals but that is it so $250 should be doable.

I don't think he was playing... either that or there was something seriously wrong with his car. No reason you should have beaten an evo8 on 11 psi even if he wasnt at 21 psi.

Thought you said he was running 28psi? and either way, he wasn't playing or there was something seriously wrong with his car.
