what type of spark plugs have you installed?? maybe the sparks are not the rights for the GDI. the sparks should be IRIDIUM, Original sparks are NGK IZFR6B. however, if you can buy Denso Sparks vbk20 (Iridium Tought).. i would strongly recommend. it's worth every $$. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/clap.gif)

also make sure the coils are doing good contact, one misslead could not transport the required energy to power the spark..

Cheers.

I'm having the same problem. Backfires, loss of power and won't idle right. Took the coils out, removed plugs, looks like two cylinders weren't firing (pistons wet with fuel). Further inspection of the coils...two of them appear to have not been making proper contact with the plug and the internal springs seem well worn, burnt, fragile ect....
I've got the 1.8l 4G93 engine with about 150000kms on it. Is it normal for the coils to start going out around this time?
I've got new plugs on the way and now I have to order the coils from Mitsubishi.
If I know two coils are bad, should I just order two and be done, or should I order all 4?

It is normal without proper care and preventive maintinance. Yes it will do this , juss like people change plugs when things start going bad , which in sum cases is too late , and they never service the pcv valve ever and get concerned when they get oil leaks.
