I've temporarily inherited a 2 Litre petrol Pinin on a 53 plate (uk) and I accidentally shorted out the cigarette lighter when my phone/nav charger decided to fall apart while I was removing it from the 12v dash socket. Its left me with no power to the cigar lighter and the dashboard display is now also not working. I've gone through every fuse in the fusebox in the engine compartment and they are all ok.
I have'nt got a clue where else to look.
Any idea's anyone.

Thanks

Alan

there is another fuse box, behind the dashboard... uk.. i think the fuse box should be down right the dash. look at the pic.

hope it helps,
Luisfer.

I've had this problem since I bought my '02 Montero. It seems that the morons that put in the aftermarket DVD player display fried part of the circuit board located underneath the steering column. That board controls the map lights, door locks, and a bunch of other things. My map lights work manually, but don't come on automatically when we open a front door. I've looked all over for a fuse to replace, but can't find one, so I think it's tied to that circuit board.

you should also try checking the small bulbs in the panel. may be the short circuit has fused them.
