So as most of you know the 2g mitsubishi eclipse models have a nasty rattle when the window is down and you close it or even just drive. Well here is 1 useful way to fix it!

you want to roll the window down and take the door panel right off, along with the speaker and manual window scroller. I'm not going to give you a step by step - screw by screw detail because you are all grown men and are capable of doing this with ease (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

(IMG:http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt294/bluesteel98/eclipsewindow2.jpg)

(IMG:http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt294/bluesteel98/eclipsewindow3.jpg)

now once all of this is clear, look in the speaker hole to the right and you will see a brass colored piece of steel attached to the window and what should be on a metal slide which guides the window. This little brass bitch is the source of the window shattering noise when you close the door. What you want to do is take this off using a 10mm socket (the bigger the hands you have the harder this will be, so be very careful not to lose anything).

now, once this is out you need to bend in the piece that hooks onto the track, i just used a hammer and this is what it should look like. If you don't understand, I guarantee you will once you remove the piece.

now put it back in place and tighten it. With this said you can put the speaker back in place. Now, before you put the door panel on I would recommend using some sort of insulating foam on the door to seal it where the top of the door rattles. the main rattle should be fixed but the plastic door frame itself still shakes right? This is just due to poor quality.. sad to say but it's true. Just spray foam in there, being cautious of course not to make a mess of your car.

Good luck to anyone trying to fix this (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I hope this helped. Cheers

Nice tutorial. I was going to make one when I did mine but started and then didn't want to get the camera greasy haha
Not sure what you mean by the foam part though. Use the expanding foam like "great stuff?"
Where exactly do you put it?

Yes like "great stuff"; any expanding insulation foam really. You want most of it at the top near the mirror, it's poor quality where the door frame connects to the plastic cover. I sprayed it along the bottom, sides, and more at the top, right on the door cover and put it on - making sure all the plastic guiding clamps go in. When doing this make sure they are all lined up, do it slowly then smash it into place (WEAR LATEX GLOVES FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING THAT IS HOLY).

Wouldn't it get into spot so the window can't roll up and down? Do you have pictures?
