And make sure whatever material you are working with is warmed up so you don't get any wrinkles while you're filling in the contours.
The 3M adhesive will actually hold well enough that if you try to remove the material afterwards it will rip before the bond is broken (Ask me how I learned this one LOL). Just make sure you follow the instructions on the can. (basically let everything get dry enough that it's barely tacky, and coat the back of the material being applied and the surface of whatever you're applying it to)
You wouldn't believe how many people try to stick material to soaking wet adhesive that was sprayed on waaaay too thick and end up with a weak bond and "snot stains" of wet adhesive bleeding through the fabric.
