Wasn't sure if this is supposed to be under General or Suspension...

I noticed last week that my GTS pulls to the left..I got it with 212 miles and had 700 when I noticed the pull. On my commute there are no pot holes or hard bumps.

I called the Dealer's service dept and he suggested that the tire pressure was low. Logical. I checked it and sure enough, each tire was at 21psi...so I brought each to 41psi...still pulled to the left.

I called back and made an appointment for today. I show up at 8am and at 12pm the car is ready. I get in and drive off and sure enough it pulls to the left. I get on the freeway to verify on a flat road and it pulls.

I go back to the service dept and they send the car back to the alignment shop...later, at 5:30...yes I've been there all day...the manager comes to me and explains that the alignment shop says that they have aligned it to 08 specs and that they don't have the 09 specs..?..the Manager wants me to bring it back in during the week, but I can spend another day out of work. So I say I'll bring it in satuday...so he says he will do a cross-rotation of the wheels..

Now, my question is, if after Saturday the car still pulls...what would my options be? Do I ask them to take it to another shop? Could I ask for another car?

Thanks

Not all of them, mine doesn't. It goes straight as bullet after 124 000+ miles.

Mine drives straight as well. Also, I don't recommend filling the tires to 41 psi. To me that is a bit high. I will have mine 35 cold and up to 38 most hot. The stock tire's max pressure is 51 psi. It's still your decision, but I just thought it was a bit high.

That seemed high to me, but the tire itself had both 41psi and 51psi...I just chose the lowest..

Tire pressure for the stock Dunlop tires should be 32psi. Says on sticker inside the door well on drivers side. (probably in the manual too).

Mine does not pull to the left when just driving down the road. There is a torque steer factor that pulls the car to the left when, for instance, attempting to pass a car in front of you and you pull out to the left lane to pass. In situation like that, the pull to the left is normal. It's due to the under steer, no LSD, and the tires don't help either.
I don't believe pulling to the left is normal when just driving down the road, but having said that, many have reported this issue. I thought I read in this forum that new / different tires seemed to help. It also doesn't hurt to have another shop check the alignment and balance of tires. But ultimately there may be nothing to fix it as other have tried with little or no success. What causes it and why only some cars do it, I have no idea.

NY-09GTS, thanks. I only looked at the tire, figuring it would have the correct info...the shop mentioned that I had it to high...I'm pulling out the manual tonight...

You're welcome. Pick up a digital tire pressure gauge, auto zone has them. Cheap and a big help. I check my pressure every 1-2 weeks, helps keeping the mpg's up.

It's something with the cars alignment & possibly the stock Dunlops. After replacing the Dunlops with my now extinct P-Zero Nero Pirelli's....the pulling issue went away. Now that I have the Conti Extreme Contact DWS's......still no pulling issue.

I just think that your alignment "might" be out from the factory & the Dunlops could still have a pulling issue. See what the dealership will do & stay on them until it is resolved.
My Dunlops finally got swapped out under warranty with just under 5,000 miles on the clock....so stay on their a$$ until they do something!

Hope all goes well.

Mine doesnt pull.
I mean, really, how can pulling to the left be normal? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laughing.gif)
And of course 41 psi is way too high..... and not RTFM???
Good luck.

also u dont need to rtfm..
the correct tire pressure is on a sticker in the drivers door jamb area

the tire pressure on the tire is what its maxium rated for ..thats not what they need too be set at

I just noticed mine has started pulling to the left. Less than 1000 miles on it. I'll be checking the tire pressure tomorrow

I have 720 miles on mine and no pulling of any kind. Though using the gear shift to go down to drive is no longer very fluid, ill wait and see what happens with that.

most people have reported the problem being fixed when swapping out new tires.

one person (cant remeber who) reported this was a transport issue that the vehicles were improperly tied down in transport and the camber was damaged. Camber is not adjustable on these vehicles without installing aftermarket camber bolts. I am not sure if this is fact, just what Ive read online.

I would recommend replacing the tires and see if the pulling goes away.

Also as others have said, 41 psi is too high. You want the pressures to be around 32-35 COLD pressures. also make sure you rotate the tires regularly and keep wear even and make them last longer.

My GTS also pulls to the left and making my Dunlops to wear. There are a lot of GTS owners with the pulling to left problem. The dealer want to check aligment but my GTS has 36,000 and my tires are out warranty.I hope that our Lancers are not tire eaters.Attached File  DUNLOP_TIRES_WEAR.JPG ( 155.53K ) Number of downloads: 10

if u waited till 36,000 then yes its your problem...

like i stated earlier use the six second rule on a flat road (altho 95% of the roads are crowned and will give u adrift anyway..) but if u buy a brand new car and its making left turns it needs an alignment or tires checked (tires can give a pull also) alignment is warranty up too 12,000 miles only...

and there is no such thing as a car that u cant adjust.. theres always a way.. unless the frame is wacked..then u need a body shop..

but any really good alignment tech can tell u whats wrong with the car...and if they cant ..find one who does...

i can tell u what wrong your alignment if i just drive it around the block.... but i have also been doing them for 22 years...

also tire pressure isnt going to change anything unless u overinflate one side to 60-70 psi and the other at 30..
a little difference doesnt make as much difference on street tires..
