Hi All
Have a Mitusbishi Outlander Elegance (2008) with 18" alloys and finding A/T tyres for 18" is a no go so will need to downsize to 16" alloys.
Was impressed with the General Grabber A/T 2's i used to have on my Shogun and want to put some on the Outlander as mixing snow with the factory fitted Bridgestone Duelers is not good when going down hill, which i found out earlier this year when we had a few inches of snow. Going up steep hills on ice was excellent in all fairness, and uphill on snow was ok, but damaged a rim due to traction loss using these tyres coming down a minor slope in fresh snow in first gear and making contact with a kerb when i overshot the junction. Do plenty of clay shooting so will be using these tyres for some journeys across fields and muddy tracks this winter. Plan to have these as a winter set and switch back to the 18" alloys in the summer months.
Basically i have been told by two companies in the UK that the 16" and 17" alloys won't fit due to calliper contact. Mitusbishi dealership wasn't much use when i asked about what they could come up with. Asked about the steel rims that go on the Equippe model and they quoted £111 + VAT each for one, which is a crazy price! I later spoke to a guy from Perfromance Alloys based in Northern Ireland last week and he said he had some 16" AEZ Tacana's which would do the job, but will have to double check that they have enough clearance from calliper. Have some General Grabber A/T 2's lined up at £68 each inc Delivery, so just waiting for some info on 16" alloys.
Has anyone done anything similar to this on their Outlander as any info would be much appreciated.
