I have a '01 Mitsubishi Pajero (Montero) (Based here in Ireland) and I'm experiencing the same with Braking...
I'd spoken to my nearest Mitsubishi Dealer who quoted me €3,500 to replace the whole braking system, but then spoke to a local mechanic
who specializes on Truck brakes.. he told me it looks like the Accumulator sphere needs replacing? there's a chirping noise and a slight vibration
everytime I press the breaks.... Coming from the Cylindar beside Brake Booster (Accumulator Sphere).
he reckons the Nitrogen gas has either depleated or the Diaphram within the accumulator is having issues...

I've been told initially to Replace the Braking Accumulator Sphere... should resolve the issue?

Could someone (if possible) me know where you can order the replacement Accumulator (was it online) I can't seem to source it?!? the only sites I've
found are in Russian (I think) and unfortunately... I'm not very good with Russian :-)
Also, any hint's on the correct replacement procedures would be great!?!

I'm aware there's a recal on this item for my model truck but Mitsubishi Ireland will not honour this...

Thanks in advance...

There's a recall bullitin on the accumulator, if your dealer doesn't know about they are totally lame. I've replaced about 30 of these in warranty, no matter the mileage.

Mitsu Ireland is a bunch of rips offs. Everyone else on the planet does it in warr. MItsu pays for the part for hecks sake.

I know the local grey market Mitsu parts but don't know if they ship to Ireland.

Thanks for the prompt heads up.. I've seen the bulletin on a few sites and have mentioned this to the Mitsubishi dealer I was dealing with.
But he's playing the dumb card and says he's never heard of it? thet're quoting me €280 (bout $350) for the part, it would be great to get this replaced
through Recall / Warranty..
Do you know of any official Mitsubishi site that states the issue and Recal?

David.

Most bulletins that apply to like lets say USA wont generally apply to other models in other countries NWM TECH. Basis is because the assembly plants are different , and parts mapping are most times of different continental registry. As in LHD and RHD models etc.

As in many recalls are due to assembly issues to specific plants within the regions.

Hi David, I have recently joined the forum and was interested in your topic. I have a 01 Shogun Equippe 3.2 DI-D which has just started giving the symptoms you have with your motor, ie the chirping noise every time I press the brakes. The braking does not seem to be affected, but the chirping noise also happens when driving along the motorway without touching the brakes.

I have taken the car to the local garage who really do not have any idea, the next option is to take it to Mitsubishi.

Could you tell me where you obtained your spare part and whether it can be fitted by me. Any additional information would be welcome. Kind regards, Lee.

like kit said a recall here in the usa might not apply in ireland or spain...

if ireland and spain have a government listing of all recalls like nhtsa does here in the usa u can check that...
u can also call mitsu directly and ask about recalls...

but if they use the same hydraulic system as the full size montero does here in the usa the chirping noise means it needs the accumulator replaced
