I have had this issue for a while. Periodically, my battery light and break light will come on and usually if I turn the car off and then back on they will go off. I have replaced the OEM alternator with a Bosch one a couple of years ago cause the OEM died. I had the same problem with the OEM one but figured it was due to an immenent failure. I was wrong. A month after the new Bosch was installed the lights returned, but far less frequently. Maybe once or twice a month.

Then while driving one evening with lights and A/C on and the two warining lights on, the headlights started to dim. so while at a stop sign, I tried the car off car on trck to reset the lights but the battery was too weak to start it back up. So I pused to a parking lot, walked home, got truck to make a jump start, but when I got back to the parking lot and tried to start the car just for the heck of it, she fired right up, no lights.

The lights then stated coming on more frequently but the reset trick always works.

Anyway, I was doing some maintenance and the lights came on so I decided to check the voltage on the battery. it was around 12 indicating no charging. I did the trun off turn on trick and lights went away and I checked the voltage-- 13.2---the alternator was charging. The indicator lights seemed to provide acurate info.

Today, my wife calls and says the lights won't go off so I go and check out the voltage with the lights on-- 13.2 volts. So this time the charging was occurring but the indicator lights were saying there was a problem.

I am really at a loss as to what could be the problem. Any ideas? I am not going to spend 600 dollars on a Mitsubishi Alternator so please dont suggest that. I am just tiered of deallig with it and besides it is probably not the alternator anyway since it happened with the OEM I had even before it died.

Thanks in advance for any input.

well yu can check yur underhood power distribution block for any hair line broken MAX fuses leaving the alt or battery. And then make sure there isnt alot of corrosion at the power lead going into the power distribution center or kinked , corroded or broken wire going to the alternator

Are you you referring to the under hood fuse compartment when you say Power distribution box?

I probably have the same Bosch alternator as you do... You can pull the diode assembly pretty easy while it is on the car - check the contacts in there for coriodsion too - clean it up, and put some dielectic jelly in there.

You've definly got a loose or coroded electrical connection somewhere.
