'96 Lancer, No Dashboard Light :-( Options

My '96 Lancer suddenly lost all its dashboard lights. All gauges work, but there is no light.
I've been through every single fuse, cheching their resistance, they're all OK.

I couldn't seem to find which fuse the dashboard light is suppose to be protected by, but since they're all OK, I suspect fuses somewhere else? Or maybe some other weak point? Don't have the wiring schematics (only the "regular" workshop manual).

What other points of failure are there? I've been through the fuse box in the engine compartment and the one underneath the dashboard (over driver's left foot).

Please share your knowledge, I'm getting desperate!

I'd reccomend just removing your dash and checking the wires and lights. replace anything needed. also do some tests with a multimeter on different wires and things back there to see if you can trace the source.

Rheostat:

A B C D
3 wires | Not connected

I tested the rheostat yesterday, I measured the resistance over the A and B&C, had some 1500 ohm - 2000 ohm. When I turned the rheostat to one of the sides I got infinite resistance.
When I measured the wires entering the rheostat, I could only find 0.004V on two of them, 0V on the last one. Could this be right? 0.004 is not much (!) All mesurements relative to ground in the cigarette adapter.
Does this rheostat work by controlling some sort of PWM, or is this the actual resistor dimming the lights?

Does anyone have the schematics? I'd really like to see what is before the rheostat, and what the values should be... You can email me at audiophil (alpha) gmail.com if you have anything that can help.
