Can I run NGK BPR6EIX (stock number 6637) a iridium spark plug in my 1997 eclipse gs-t 2.0 w/manual tranny?

Some insist the turbo cars only run well (no detonation, best acceleration) with the copper plugs specified in your owners manual. Personally, I'm getting good results with my platinums in my 1990 GSX (~ 126K). My suggestion is if you want to, try it, if it doesn't work out well, switch back to copper.

as long as you are aware that the 6 in the series of letters is a colder heat range than the stock 5. this will give better performance, but you may have some putting or something like that at idle. probably not, its more likely to happen with a 7.

This is an excellent point. The only reason to go to a colder plug is if you're running higher PSI and are concerned with resultant high compression detonation. If this is not your scenario, then it doesn't make sense to change your plug temperature range. Sure, play with the plug metal (platinum, iridium), but don't play with the temperature range, it's a separate issue!

Just to throw this out there. BPR6's are the factory replacement plug. 7's are one step colder.

for NGK 5 is stock and 6,7,... is colder. Bosch is opposite. 5 being stock, 4,3,... being colder. you have to research the brand.

No sir.. not for the 1g/2g. 6 is stock. Trust me.. I deal with these questions every day on other forums. lol Also, advancce auto labels the 6's as factory replacements.

For the 3gs, the 5's may indeed be stock.

np. It may also be 5 for the 4g64 found in the spyder GS, because they have the same motor as in he 4cyl 3g (I believe at least), however, do not quote me on that.

thats probably true. But even more probable is that the turbo cars run a 6 and the non-turbos run a 5. you think that's the case? not that it matters.

Well, I know the 4g37 (1.8L) uses the 6's factory, so i would assume the 2.0L n/a do too. lol but I guess it''s possible.
