You could try cleaning the airfow sensor (if it has one, i'm not good with the DIDs). But if it was a petrol that's the first thing i'd check, to do this carfully take it off and rinse it through with some high quality premium grade petrol and dont use the petrol twice. guarages never pick it up when the MAF sensor is giveing the wrong readings for some reason. Then try cleaning/replacing the airfilter (i've seen this work on a fiat JTD diesel) to clean it use some more of the petrol and rince it from the engine side out, then if that doesnt fix it you want to take the throttle body off and check the condition of the intake manifold, the petrol versions have a tendancey to coak up inside, it's not as common on the diesels but if you have a defective EGR valve or worn piston rings it could happen.
If you want more infomation this diesel engine is produced by renault and used in the megan, laguna and senic iirc, so maybe have a look on the renault forums to see if they have this problem.
