It is the Distributor Sensor... The guy from the dealer said the whole distributor has to be changed because the sensor can't be changed out. He gave me this ridiculous price of like $870 but I have found distributors brand new online for way cheaper like this one http://cpwstore.carpartswholesale.com/cata.../A13149430.html . Im not sure if it comes with the sensor that the guy from the dealership was talking about tho.

He also said the Idle Air Control snapped or something like that. He said its not telling the computer that the throttle body is opening up and closing. He gave me a ridiculous price on this to $358 and thats without installation.

What would be my best bet just get rid of this piece of shit or fix those 2 things.

just so you know parts from a mechanic are always more expencive. this is how they can warrenty the parts.

most parts see a mark up of 40% and thats on a full retail purchase. so a 200 dollar whole sale part or online dealer price will cost your mech about 300 to buy from a napa, and then they add on 40% making it 420 for you to buy.

now they will take your part that you buy for 200 bucks but then they won't warrenty that part.......

i'd say get the parts online and then have him install them.

Yeah, I'm gonna buy the parts from online... Hopefully next week sometime then have them install it. I was talking to one of the wholesale reps which I know they have no clue what there talking about half the time, but they said the NEW Distributor doesn't come with the sensor in it, which is really stupid because the dealer said the sensor is built in it and thats why I have to replace them. Also the dealer said this part number MD155852 is the Distributor for my car but then again I looked it up and found it on ebay for $358 here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...g#ht_3677wt_824 but I looked at what cars it says its for and it doesn't say its for my car. Think the dealer messed up on the part number or is it the right part. I'm gonna go up there and talk to the dealer again tomorrow more about it.

Thanks for all of your help.

just make 100% sure you get the right part. if you order the wrong one off of ebay odds are you won't get your money back. thats why ebay is hit or miss, there are some greedy pieces of $#!T on there that don't care if you get the right part or not, they just want you cash......

What do you think a good price for installation on the Distributor would be? The dealer wants $150 and he wants $100 on the IAC Valve. Also how much do you think it would cost to change out the timing belt?

Don't go to the dealer. They will rip you off on EVERYTHING. Go to a local mechanic that is said to be reputable. Ask around at your local exhaust shops for reccomendations on local mechanics. THey will normally charge you WAY less than a dealer.

Yeah I know the dealers more expensive, but if I get it done by someone I would like them to be able to back it up with a warranty and everything. The guy that would be doing it has been working on Mitsubishi's for over 22 years. So I know he would be good. Just wanted to know how much cheaper it would be if I took it somewhere else. Like if I could get both done for like $130 somewhere else ill do that but if its only a $20 difference i'll just stick with the guy with more experience yah know...

Found an auto repair shop from NAPA and its called A & A Transmission and auto repair. They want $105 to install both the distributor and the Idle Air Control Valve which I can't pass up that deal pretty cheap. I want to get both of my timing belts done but they want $250 for just the labor, that is really high and don't have that extra cash at the moment. I heard timing belts are easy and I heard they were hard, but im guessing since its gonna cost $250 in labor its gonna be really hard. I will update you guys on the repair and tell you own the cars running after. Not sure when its gonna start but im hoping soon.

Timing belts aren't really that hard. The area that you have to work in is cramped and a little bit of a nuisance to work in but other than that, it is pretty simple. It just takes some time and patience to do it.
