hello everybody i am a new owner of a 92 mits 3000 gt sl!!! i just replaced the ecu and got the car running but it is running real crappy.. i do know the gas is over 3 yrs old so i ran it almost out and replenished the fuel tank with fresh 93 octane gas.. the car doesnt want to seem to idle right, some times it runs smooth and after several minutes it almost stalls out and almost dies but then it catches itself usually and smooths back out.. when you put it in gear it usually dies. ive noticed after running it until it gets warm its really difficult to start back up at times as well. at this point of time im not sure what to try and replace or test next. it has new plugs and new ecu. the car has been parked for over 3 yrs and my dad said it was encountering a slight idling prob when it did get parked three years ago so i was just wonderin what to check to get it runnin like a top again

You got it running - that's key! The rest shoudl be easy, right?

Maybe replace your PCV valve?

There are some sensor and motors on the throttle that help maintain idle - make sure those are in good shape / connected. If you have a good computer, you can test they 'click' when actuated.

Keep us posted... I'm having a simular problem on a car right now, but I had to replace the fuel tank (hoping the gaping hole had somthing to do with my issues) - will find out today when I get the new tank hooked up.... which reminds me - check for any leaks in your vaccuum and fuel system

Ok i will check for vacuum leaks first thing when i get off of work.. ive been doing alot of reading and research and is it possible that it could be the iac...idle air control valve?? ive heard that if they go bad it can spike your ecu and fry it... that wood put me in the same boat as before cus my old one was fried wen i bought it from my dad and i remember him telling me that it didnt wanna idle right when her parked it years ago..i let it run three hours the other day and im hoping i didnt spike the ecu

bump....so i replaced the iac this afternoon and still the same problem persists! the car wont idle right and it acts real sluggisg to any acceleration responses. i just replaced the iac hopin this wood be the cure so i wonder what is next. when the car dies it usually wont start back up for a wile and when you check for spark there is absolutely nothing there.. if you wait a wile and start it after 30 mins bam it will run again but ranging from 1000 rpm to 200 and not staying constant... what is nect?? the icm??
