so I went today and bought 4 cans of plasti-dip just for this.

I was reading and it said 30 mins between each coat. I know you used a blowdryer to speed this up, just wondering how long you waited?

I want to make sure I do it right the first time. hopefully its comes out as good as yours

Hey. How is the Plasti Dip holding up? I was going to Remove all 4 wheels, sand, resand, and paint the rims, but Plasti Dip seems so much easier. If it works well for you, I'll definitely do it instead.

I have a question though, why is it necessary to remove the wheel? Why can't you just spray it with the wheel on the car? Even if there's overspray, it's easy to remove anyway, so what's the big deal?? Does the tire have to be laid down horizontally or something (because I watched a few videos on Youtube on painting rims, and some ppl said it may be easier to stand the wheel up).

One more, did you Plati dip your mud guards on, or are those real mud guards?
Thanks

I have a quick question...

Is it possible that applying so many coats of Plasti-Dip on the wheels could throw off the balance of the wheel/tire?

Plasti-dip doesn't really add much weight. I doubt it would throw off the balance. I only used 4 coats this weekend. This was more of a test to see if I like it. I do. I will be painting them eventually. Not sure if I want to keep the lug nuts chrome though. Hopefully I can get motivated to get the windows tented this week!

The white plasti-dip on the wheels looks GREAT with the rally red paint!! I wonder if it would look good on my octane blue lancer...

Photoshop anyone...?? LOL

I used a picture from nhernan74. It would look something like this.

Question about the white rims though, won't that make a lot of unnecessary heat? Kind of like white wall tires?

No idea. They will be spinning with air rushing over them. I don't see how that will be a problem. The white rims were a big hit at a car show I went to today. And tons of looks on the drive there and back
