There might be handy pictures to somone trying to understand where the timing marks are. The marks behind the crank pulley are particularly tough to locate on the first go-around:

absolutely!!!ive never known what it looks like under the covers but i think i have a much better understanding of what im actually looking for now when i do decide to do my t belt

when doing the timing belt in our car, it kind of tricky trying to keep all 4 cams from turning, it really nice to have the tool that hold the cam from turning, make the job a little bit easier

I temporarily put some bolts in when I did it, and using the big paper clips definetly helped too..

so going off that picture your crankshaft timing marks are slightly off correct?

Nope - the picture is at an angle... if you follow the tooth back, you can see it lines up to the mark.

I know the timing is right because the car is FINALLY starting.
