post a link to where you found it. that way we can go look at it and see whats up. sounds to me like a generic chip made to fit a broad spectrum of cars. you want to get something specially desiged for your car but thats just my initial thought on it before seeing it.

I think this is the link:
http://slrmotorsports.com/shop/index.php?l...etail&p=625

Lets see, a turbo will cost you $4000 and add 50 hp and this "chip" for $70 is able to re-tune your ecu on the fly and give you 50 hp...... If it sounds to good to be true, guess what, it is.
Reading their site it sounds like this is a plug and play "chip" that re-tunes your ECU, kinda like a piggy back ecu I guess, which btw goes for about $400, or even a ecu tune (brain flash) goes for about $350.
These "chips" are bogus. If you dyno your car before and after one of these chips I doubt you'd see any gains at all.

I had bought a similar thing off ebay a few years back for my 97' 3000GT. It was only 12 bucks with shipping so I figured I would try it out. I was pretty positive I knew exactly what it was but I had to order it to confirm it. All it was, was a resistor that you connected across the terminals on the mass airflow sensor. This basically changes the resistance (ohms) that the sensor is putting out to the cars ECU. In turn, changing the fuel-to-air ratio which my have provided a very slight, (and I mean slight!) increase in HP.

It was the worst $12 I ever spent, but also kind of the best $12 I ever spent in way if you know what I mean. Now I know what most of those things are and I won't give into the very hopeful advertising.

That one being $70, it may be something completely different or even a larger riff off.... The only way to tell if order, but remember, education can be expensive so watch what you buy.

Good luck!

DEF DO Not BUY!!!! i just looked at the site... it is totally bogus... theres no way any ecu tune from any company will give you 50 hp on a n/a engine. my audi with a professioal tune from a company in germany that chargest $600+ for it can only garuntee me 20 hp and 22 ft/lbs of tq. also if you look at the site it generalizes the lancer, not taking into consideration the year or the size engine, 2.0 or 2.4... or even 1.8 in some non u.s cases. nor does it give an option for fed over pzev. if the company cannot be specific on the application its for or how it works then dont do business with them
