Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone else has this issue or a solution. 2008 Lancer ES M/T - When I get on it a little and the tires spin (dry, wet, etc...) there is a violent vibration through the car that I believe is wheel hop. I just want to get a little scratch once in a while without feeling like I'm destroying something. Any ideas?

Thanks.

I guess it's normal for it to happen when ever you accelerate hard over uneven pavement, or it's just that point where you give a certain amount of gas which is just short of spinning the wheels and they start to bounce of the ground.
DEFINITELY not good for the whole drive train of the car and have to be avoided, you will be lucky if engine and tranny mounts will be the only damage.

Don't take this the wrong way, I'm not trying to be a smart a$$......... but the one way to eliminate wheel hop is to learn to drive your manual better. On a FWD car, if you jump on the gas and just pop the clutch you will get wheel hop, no way around it. You have to learn how to ride the clutch and accelerate thru the launch. Try giving it a little gas and then letting the clutch out slower than just poping it and as you let the clutch out continue to give it more gas. It's almost an even motion as you gradually let the clutch out you gradually give it more gas. With practice you will learn how to squeal the tires in first and second without wheel hop.

An after market front strut bar will help some too, but really you just need to practice launching more.

Note: riding the clutch will put more wear and tear on the clutch, just keep that in mind.

A lot of FWD cars have wheelhop, its simple physics. The only way to avoid it is to get stiffer engine mounts or weld the engine to the chassis ( the latter one is less common on street cars for obvious reasons), LCA bushings, H-brace and LSD. That will take care of 95% of your wheel hop.

Otherswise, if you dont want to spend money on all that, try revving to about 2000rpm then slipping through the 1st gear to avoid wheel spin ....this is an easy thing to do once you perfect it, but obviously it will eat your clutch like you wouldn't believe.

p.s. or just get AWD car (IMG:style_emoticons/default/gunsmilie.gif)

LOL, IM2QUICK. haha. I was nice, I was just being honest. I actually expected you to jump all other this one, you were very restrained and as always you gave good advice. I forgot about bushing, motor mounts and an h-brace. I want mounts and an aftermarket front strut bar. And of course we all want that elusive LSD. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif)
