97 Eclipse Gsx Speaker Size? Options

I replaced my front two indash tweeters and door speakers with two 6.5" JL Audio TR650-CSI Speakers

I want to soon replace my rear two speakers but I dont know what size they are 6x9 or 6.5" like the front?

I have looked online and I have read both that some have 6x9 and some have 6.5" i dont want to pull them apart to find out either.


also any suggestions on which rear speakers to go with?

well for a sub everyone knows u must have a 15' like u cant have a system with out that get 2 amps 1 for rear and front and another for just that sub it wil sounds smexy

The 1G's have 6x9's, I believe the 2G's have 6.5" You might be able to modify it for 6x9's, but I would recommend the 6.5" and add a sub. It doesn't need to sound "smexy" though

You know that plastic trim-covered partition thing right behind the folding rear seats on the floor? Remove the plastic and look under it. There is plenty of space to mount a coupld 6x9's in there. Granted, you will have to be creative with your wiring and good at cutting so you can mount the speaker grills on the plastic cover and not look like ass!

the ones on my 96 rs are 6x9 but they could be different. I am completly not sure but i think i remember seeing a arm rest in the back panels on some eclipses. if that is true then they could of changed the size of the speaker, but i am not sure. also you can just look at the speaker hole. if its round then 6.5 if its oval then 6x9, but still make sure.

well i got 97 gst there 6x9 so im guessing its the same shit

Thanks guys.. im gonna just buy some 6x9s and make them work... if they its made for 6.5s ill mod it to fit
