Thank you for saving my ass. haha. Went up to Walgreens in a grumpy mood to return a movie to a Redbox. I parked behind a Mazda 6 about to return the movie. Then I see the guy's reverse lights come on, and backs up with some speed to it. I was thinking to myself, I don't think this guy sees me.... And next thing I know, BOOM. Dude backs up into me. I honk my horn for a good 15 seconds showing him that I was PISSED. I step out of the car swearing my ass off and he's like sorry man didn't see you... He was a dad with his family in the car. I looked at my car, looked at his. I said, "Uh... do you see anything?" His car had a big gash in the paint on the back bumper. My car had nothing. I asked him if he sees where it got hit, but we couldn't find a damn thing..... I told him, "Whatever man I can't see anything so it's fine". Took his plate number and went home... And now I'm thinking to myself... where's the scratch?!??! Who knew that a $6 can of Plasti Dip can save yourself a new paint job on a bumper... This stuff's tough!

Lol thats good stuff.... For all the canadians out there.... I thought it was impossible to find plastidip and nite shade but if you look hard enough, you WILL find a store near you.

Nite shade call 1 800 247 3270
They will locate a dealer near you

And Plastidip i called every local Home Hardware store by me and 2 of the 5 carried them...

It's worth the hunt to find it... Trust me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) If I had regular flat black paint or a vinyl it would have been destroyed.

@Lube, WOW, that is crazy.. i didn't know i would have introduced to this community a product that could potentially save you from a fender bender.. lol.. great news that nothing was damaged on your end..

@Canadians, the ONLY place in Canada where you can pick up some Plasti-dip (with relative ease) is at Home Hardware. Rona, Home Depot, CT, etc.. WILL NOT carry this product. Mainly because there is something to do with Plasti-dip being labeled as a 'hazardous product'. They're about 12.99 at Home Hardware.

Regards.

Sweet! There is a Home Hardware right around the corner from me, I will stop in there on the way home from work tomorrow.

That stuff can sure work wonders on the front end appearance of 08/09 Lancers, it is just an added bonus that it protects the paint underneath a few layers of it...

HAPPY PLASTI-DIPPING TO ALL!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/gunsmilie.gif)

Wow something similar had happened to me!

I drove into a television at night (dunno why some idiot put it in the middle of the road). The plasti-dip that I had on was scratched a bit, but after i peeled it off, the OE paint on my car was perfectly fine.

That is why I am buying the clear plasti-dip for the top of the back bumper. My cousin already scratched that area putting stuff in the trunk

Now thats an awesome idea!

Even if somebody didn't want to blackout the front, they could use clear just for added protection... I wonder how well it would work along the bottom of the side skirts to prevent those nasty little stone chips...

The only thing I'm wondering about is if the clear plasti-dip will make that area appear dull. I'm not sure how "clear" the plasti-dip is.

Ya I guess it depends whether it has a gloss finish or flat finish to it...

I think since its clear, it would be a glossy finish. But I am just guessing. It wouldn't look as good flat would it...?

Pretty sure the clear will come out flat and dull. Doesn't hurt to try (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif)

The only colors I've seen at those places was black. Did they have any others at the ones you went to?

i have an idea... when i painted my bumper, i did A LOT of think coats and it came out very flat and smooth. What if you do the same on the back bumper, then pickup color matched spray paint and go over the plastidip.. this way, it looks stock, but if you ever need to rip it off, you just handle it like you would plastidip
