Hey ya'll... just in case anyone was ever wondering, yes I am still alive!

My 2008 Lancer isn't though. I rear ended a Nissan Pathfinder and the car is a total loss.

My insurance is going up around 300 dollars a year, which kind of sucks, but I'm getting a brand new Lancer from the insurance company.
Getting a 2009 GTS with S&S + Leather, manual transmission.

Unfortunately they didn't have any of the colors I liked left, so I'm getting a white one again.
Will probably stick the AEM CAI, the Magnaflow Exhaust, and the TWM Short Shifter back on the 2009.

I might get some dynos done, but not for a while cause money is rather tight right now...

Hey Rox, I was wondering where you disappeared too. Dam that sucks dude, but at least your ok, and you get a faster car now too. Welcome to the 2.4L crowd, lol.
Glad to hear you can keep your intake and exhaust too. And there's nothing wrong with the white, it's hot. Good luck with the new one.

Now you can really let us know from extensive experience if the 2.4 liter is superior by far or little then the 2.0. I can say, i didnt know cars could look like that!! Did the airbags go? Did the knee airbag protect you haha?

DAMN that shit's WRECKED! It makes me cringe a little cuz it looks like my car.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mellow.gif) but glad you came out fine. Hopefully the crash rating was good enough haha. I personally would have gotten a different car though, just to try somthing out. But glad you stick with DSM lol

wow, what a mess. Glad you came out of that one alright!!

Did you get replacement insurance?

I just got my 09 GTS a few weeks ago and I bought the replacement insurance in case this happens to me. That way I get the purchase price back from insurance rather than the depreciated value of the car.

My Auto Insurance already has the replacement option. I think they call it Grand Touring Solution, I pay extra (obviously) and if my car is totalled I get it replaced with a brand new one.
The older the insured vehicle gets, the higher the GTS solution rate gets etc etc.

And no, the airbags didn't go off.
I kind of hit my knee on the splash panel under the steering wheel, but that's because I sit rather close to the steering wheel (I'm 5.7, plus like to be close for the clutching etc).

When it comes to the difference between the 2.0L and the 2.4L, it really IS there!
The 2.4 picks up speed much better, it feels like it has a lot more balls than the 2.0L... on the first day when I floored it I was rather surprised on how it felt vs the old Lancer.
Now of course take under consideration that I'm driving a manual, and cannot tell you how the difference feels on the CVT.

All in all, after driving it for a couple days, I like it!! Much better than the previous version... and I think they might have done something to improve handling cause it feels much stiffer (which I really like)... or it could be the fact that I have nitrogen filled tires now...

I'm glad I got another Lancer... would like an EVO, but hey, this will do. At least it's a little faster than the old one (even without mods).

PS. The sun visors are not as floppy as in the 2008. That's nice too, I can actually hang some crap on them and it will stay where I put it!

The air bags are supposed to go off if there is a front end collision over 15mph or 25km/h (if hitting a stationary object like a wall). The way your car looks I would have thought they would have went off, but if the pathfinder moved when you hit it, that's probably why they didn't go off.
It's just as well I guess. When I was 21, I drove head on into a guard rail at 30mph, no braking or anything. The air bag went off and it knocked me out. My face looked like I was in a fight after that, all cut up and bruised. Those things hit hard, but it's better than hitting the steering wheel or the dash or the windshield.
Have fun with the new ride.

Hey thats how I got my lancer too! Except someone hit me going across three lanes of traffic and it was his fault. But I got a way better car out of the crash so I wasn't too bummed about spending the night in the hospital.
