okay so i have a 05 lancer es. i bought it used about a year ago. it had a few different aftermarket parts already on it when i got it. one of these is road race cold air intake. once while driving in some heavy rain the engine locked lost power and i had to pull over. by the time it got towed to the mechanic it was working fine again. probable cause was that water had gotten sucked through the intake. so after prepping for some maintenance/upgrades i found out that you can get a bypass valve in case your intake gets submerged. its been raining at records pace here in louisiana and sometimes the roads get a bit flooded, so this is probably a good thing to have.
my question:
i measured the pipe of the intake to be about 2.5". there is an AEM intake bypass available online. will this work for the road race intake that i have? i assume it will, but i figured someone here probably has more experience with all this than i do.
i guess while im at it, how hard is it to install this bypass and is it worth it? i believe you have to cut the pipe which i dont really want to have to do, but my dad has a shop with the tools and if i pay him a visit he will probably help me out.
thanks in advance
