Hey guys getting the 505 idle control error. I was seeing if there was away to tell if its the idle air controller or if its a bad throttle body.

I dont really wanna replace both as neither are just cheap ass parts.

The car hasnt gotten to the point where its kicking or stalling yet.

The throttle body can't really "god bad" The seals can, but not the TB itself. There are 3 Idle control sensors on the 4G63. The ISC, IAC Valve, and the TPS. All of them can be checked with a multimeter. Just pick up a haynes manual from your local parts store and it has a list of what the proper readings should be.

Its fairly easy to replace... I think theres either 2 or 4 screws.... Can't remember exactly... But the part is pretty pricey.... $219.99 + tax.... Mine on my car is bad but too expensive to replace it right now since its not really causing any major problems... I will be replacing it as soon as I can tho.

You don't really need an OEM IAC Valve.. Autozone/Advance Auto/O'Reileys/Pep boys will work just fine. Best bet, however, is to go to a JY as they are cheap as fuck there. I'm talkin like $5 if you don't just stick it in your pocket and walk out with the five finger discount. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

EDIT: Also, when you are swapping them out, make sure to note how the plunger goes in for the IAC. IF it isn't right, it won't work right.

one of my local JY wants $100 for it and not sure if it's even work, no refund, return or exchange.
I was shocked.

like jon said, buy some other bigger part for like... $25 then just take the IAC, they have no right charging you that much for a used part.

If anyone could give me a picture of what this part looks like and where its located on your engine.

I've got a 97 model so if anyones got a 97-99 pictures from you would be great.

Also if anyones got a spare part that would be fantastic.

Eclipse is kindove a rare car around the shitty parts I live. My junk yard is a neon graveyard.
