2005 outlander.

It has a trailer hitch (not sure if this is important).

Both the front headlight and tail light are out. I replaced both last night. Still no lights.

Suggestions?

Thanks

These two lamps have seperate circuits. Might be coincidence but it looks like you blew 2 fuses. Does your headlight come on with daytime driving lights because that is also a seperate circuit. If daytime runing light works then you blew 10A low beam fuse( diagram pdf 90-56). Lisence plate light and rear side markers are also connected to left tail light so if these work you either have a bad socket or broken wire. If they don't work then Tail lamp fuse is a 7.5 amp fuse( diagram pdf 90-62).

Thanks Outy.

Turned out it was a comedy of issues.

The idiots who installed my trailer hitch put their own ground in. It came loose. It was about oh...3 inches from the main rear ground.

I moved it, tail lights worked.

Headlight. I stuck the voltmeter in. 12 volts. Bad new bulb.

Replaced bulb again. All is well.

Plenty of (so called mechanics) idiots out there who don't care because it's not their vehicle. We can fix a lot of things but we all know we just can't fix stupid (mechanics)! Have a nice day
