Hello everyone. My name is Christian Thomson and I own a '96 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS. I joined this forum in hopes of squeezing any information I can out of yall by any means necessary :gunsmilie: Muahhaha just kiddin. I do have a few questions though they might seem stupid I need to know these things for fact.

1) Do they make a front wheel drive Evo?
2) Does the front wheel drive Evo Engine Bolt right up to a '96 Eclips Transmission, cv's and motor mounts?

You see I'm going to be swapping my engine soon and was thinking about trying to snag up a GSX engine BUT I was told that Evo Engines will drop right in *Don't get me wrong I know how to work on them and I know what to do BUT when it comes to statistics, specifications and what have you I'm in the dark*. If anyone knows about these things or has done them before please post and lemme know what to do. Thanks in advance.

Why does everyone with a N/A DSM want to swap their engine?

No you can't put an EVO 4g63 into your car, at least not without extensive modifications to the engine mounts and a new transmission. You have a Chrysler engine, an Evo has a Mitsubishi engine.

Because the N/A Eclipse was cheaper and it's kinda slow...

Bingo... a Neon DOHC 2.0L. That's why the parts (header, etc) are similar when you look them up in, say, JCWhitney.

Thanks for the info, What would you recommend I do? Red, the Reason for wanting to swap my engine is the fact that it has nearly 300k miles on it and I don't wanna be on the side of the freeway callin a tow truck ;) , and I figure while I'm at it I might as well put something worth while under the hood.

What about the GSX Motors? Any info on this or info on where I can get the information I seek would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The GS-T/GS-X motor is the same motor as the Evo, only backwards... so no it won't fit

Hey Red, Help me out here bud What should I do???? You seem to know what you are talking about. I need to swap my engine due to excessive mileage, do I go with a stock engine? is there something "better" I can put in....More Horsepower, Torque, Turbo? Please help me! Thanks in advance.

Honestly, the stock engine isn't bad...since it is a Neon engine you can buy a ton of stuff for it. I would stick with stock unless you have a ton of money to spend.
