hmm this must be aftermarket dvd player?

we dont get this in the states. but if its anything like the newer in dash dvd players, theres a way of modding it to by-pass the brake sensor (dvd only works in park on when the brake is applied)...

I havent done this myself, but a frien who works at an audio shop has told me about this, just in case I was thinking of purchaing a newer in dash dvd player

The new Australian Outlander VRX model (top of the range) has an indash DVD/Sat Nav/GPS (out of Pajero I think).

see Australian Outlander Site

I would be interested in how to "enable" the DVD whilst driving. Not for the driver, but for the front seat passenger.

The dealer said it could be done..

Cheers Lester

I am not in any way suggesting should be done (even hestitating posting this) OK enough Caveats - for those who may have a genuine need for use of the DVD while driving (for audio DVD's only (for safety's sake) - I understand the important wire is the white one in the 6 pin Molex connector (actually using audio DVDs is no more attention grabbing than a CD or the radio screen, its just than the system can't tell if your'e watching a movie DVD, TV or listening to an audio DVD)

MP3 ...

Just copy MP3 into with Directory(s) to sort music and burn to CD-R (not DVD-R or +R). MP3 only play off CD-R.

As for the DVD whilst driving, it is tied to the Car Computer as a Speed Input. I have spoken to Eurovox but they wont give me any Idea how it can be done (except to say... its can be done). The unit has 1 AV (Composite + L/R Audio) out that plays regardless of car speed (to feed a rear LCD Screen). I also spoke to a Authorised Car Audio Store in Melbourne who would "fix" it for around $1000. He stated it required "soldering the main board" + some firmware similar to what the do to XBoxs etc.

As a foot note, the Audio Unit has an Inbuilt TV Tuner, but not supplied with the Ariel. The ariel has just been released for ($380). Also Mitsubishi have Rear Head Rest LCD Screens available to suit the VRX and will appear as options soon.
